When Bad Meets Evil - Episode 1

 

The girl with a perfectly streamlined face covered her mouth with a hand. she wished it could cover her anger for she was boiling inside. She had just watched a viral video of her sister accepting a wedding proposal. One she was entitled not to accept. She played the video again. Maybe she was seeing wrong, maybe the video had been expertly edited, maybe it wasn't her sister or  maybe it was even a prank video.

      No, not at all. This was certainly no prank video and those deep bright eyes belonged to no one else but Caroline . Her sister.
     She glanced with a cringe when it played to that part when her sister said "yes I will marry you. my love" she said it so happily like a child on a Christmas visit to an amusement park.
      Caroline peered over her sister's shoulder "64k views. Wow I'm trending" she breathed happily.  "64k views" her sister Edenna repeated mockingly "gush! do you think this is funny. And why am I just watching this now? You uploaded this video 2 nights ago

. How could you not have shown me earlier"

      "I didn't show you because I figured you would react exactly like this, getting worked up over nothing" she snatched the phone from Edenna's grip and reverted it back to the home screen before stretching it back to her " besides you would have seen it if you hadn't gone AWOL from social media" she finished with laughter in her voice.
     "You think that was funny, you are such a fool" Edenna's voice was brittle, devoid of laughter. She clearly didn't see the funny side to her sister accepting a proposal that was certainly going to get her in a lot of trouble "Do you love him?" She asked keeping the voice.
      Caroline couldn't answer. If nothing, the sudden stillness in Edenna's voice had rocked her mellow. 
    She could deal with every part of Edenna except this part when she acted like dad. This part when she let all 9 years of her seniority show. She could be over parenting at times, and Caroline could never be prepared for that. She liked it better when Edenna became loud against her nature and shouted at her, when she showed exactly how angry she was and admonished her. At least then she poured out all her anger and there made up soon after. Each would take turns apologising and everything would be buried down under.
     Caroline took strides back ward until she reach the dinning. She poured water into a glass and drank.
     "God!" Edenna swore " this is all my fault. I should never have allowed you get involved in the first place" She fell tirelessly on the longest sofa.
      "I didn't mean to okay. I thought he was taking me out on a regular dinner. I had no idea he was going to propose. And when He did, I couldn't just say no"
       "What I asked was are you in love with him?" Caroline wandered how she manages to keep the voice. 
       "I don't know...Maybe"
  "you don't know, maybe, why can't you be serious for once?. What about kayode?"
      "what about him?"she answered the last question.
  "That man saved your life. he loves u like crazy"
  "helping me to settle hospital bills doesn't mean I have to marry him!"
    "don't be rediculous!" Edenna's voice finally had some taut in it "You were hit by a car, everyone was afraid to help you fearing you were dead. Kayode risked his life to save you! he did much more than just pay hospital bills. And don't get me started on what caused the accident"
    "yeah yeah my night in shinny armour. I'm greatful to him but sister Ede can we just move on. Besides we are just friends!" she sat were she was and fiddled with her engagement ring.
    "Kayode loves you. He told me himself. He is only waiting for your career to take root"
    "Too bad. I'm engaged now"
 "Do you even here yourself.Mrs engaged. What are you going to tell Sarah?Have you even thought of that?"
    Just then there both heard the car screech to a halt and both sister's knew without a doubt that soon the  door would flunk open without any knock, to announce the arrival of the ministers daughter. Sarah.        
      Talk of the devil and she appears.
