The Man I Love - Episode 2

 

It was Monday and Vil was still not around, two weeks passed she was yet to see him. 

Worried as she couldn't get her mind off him, she manage to sum up courage and ask her colleagues about him.

 She was able to gather that he had gone overseas to do some work...she felt so bad and looked forward to seeing him.

As at this time, she has been ignoring Emeka’s calls, and even when she answers, she flares up at the slightest provocation. 

Emeka being surprised at her recent attitude, sent her series of messages to find out the reason behind her sudden change in behavior so they could resolve it together. 

“Hani has never been touchy in attitude so what’s going on?” Emeka asked himself confounded, not knowing what to do.

 Prior to this time they usually resolve their differences quickly,

 “This her obnoxious character is getting on my nerves” 

 He spoke with his friends as well as hers to help him talk to her, if for nothing at least to find out his crime, so he can make amends but all his efforts were futile. 

He came to Delta state more than once to talk things over with her yet it was all a wild goose chase as she wasn’t talking to him and was able to successfully avoid him.

Her parents tried talking with her about her recent behavior as Emeka had complained to them on several occasions pleading with them to help him talk to her, 

perhaps she might listen. But she was obstinate still She says to her parents:

Your father and I are not in support of this recent development of yours, you better tread with caution" her mother advised.

“Mummy change is constant and life is dynamic, Emeka should move on..." She replied.

 One Month later…

Vil came back and continued his advances towards Hani. 
He started spending more time with her, as well as spoiling her with gifts and she liked him.

On her passing out parade, he furnished a new apartment for her and retained her in the lab as a staff, he also bought her a new car as a birthday present.

"Are you serious! Thanks a million” She shrieked in joy, running round the car in excitement, she Suddenly hugged him, raining kisses on him.

 Suddenly, her smiles fades...

"I can't drive”

"That's not an issue I'm here" Vil said.

 He taught her how to drive .

Hani invited Emeka over to her new apartment,

He arrives with so much excitement that after such a long time of being in the dark he finally has a chance to canvass with the love of his life.

 this would be a very good opportunity to settle our scores, he thought to himself.

“Emeka, meet Vil my fiancé, we will be getting married in a few month”.

Emeka could not believe his eyes…

 "How! what happened to us? Don’t you love me anymore? we've been through a lot you know".... Emeka asked in a panicky voice.

"Wake up Emeka, there’s nothing left between us.

 I’ve decided to settle down with Vil, there’s nothing left to say. 

“who is he?” Vil asks referring to Emeka.

“Baby, please give me few minutes, he’s just an old friend” she requested.

“I’ll be waiting in the car, please don’t keep me waiting for too long” he says, giving her a peck on her forehead and walks away leaving both of them in the parlour.

“Yes Vil, I will join you shortly”.

Emeka was startled with the whole scenario. 

“Hani! 

Look at me! what happened to us? I  know
 in my heart of hearts that you love me, who is this guy and what has he done to you?”

“Emeka, you are speaking Greek, let me say this for the very last time, I’ve gotten to the point of no return, 

Vil and I are getting married and that’s final, you better come to terms with it.

She dips her hand inside her hand bag,
 brought out a few naira note and droped it at his feet. 

“for your bicycle allowance to Benin, please shut the door behind you, if you don’t mind, excuse me.

She walks away and tries to catch up with
 Vil.

"What about your friend?" Vil asked.

"He's fine, he will return back to Benin soon.  Can we leave now?" She responded.

"Sure, why not"

and they both drove off 

Emeka stood still for a while, unable to utter a word, suddenly he manages to scream 

“Jesus!” He slumped.
