Inexperienced - Episode 3

 

He managed to get a bus going to his destination. It did not take long before he alighted from the bus. He headed straight to the bank and reached his pocket to bring out the money. "What!!!, my money! my money!" . He remembered keeping his money in his right pocket . "It should be here!" he said while searching his pocket thoroughly . After series of search without finding anything, he lost hope and sat on a floor located outside the bank . . "Why was i this careless?, i should have held the money instead of putting it in my pocket.Now, the money is gone, what will i do?, i am finished!" . Being the first time Hillary was facing the world all alone, he saw himself making lot of mistakes. . "Where will i go from here?, i have no money on me. O God, come to my aid!" . He stood up from where he was sitting, still feeling his pocket for any sign of hope that the money could still be there, he walked to the exit gate of the bank, stretched out his right hand through the rectangular opening and reached for the lock. Standing outside the gate, he looked at both sides of the road thinking of which direction to take. As he looked, he sighted a notice board located few distances from were he was. He crossed the road and moved closer to see what was written on the board

. . 'Computer Operator Needed' was boldly written on the white board. Without giving it a second thought, Hillary rushed into the building . "Goodmorning" he greeted the young lady at the entrance. . "morning, how may i help you?" . "I saw the notice board outside the building, i'm interested in the job" . "In that case, you will have to come back tomorrow, the manager is not on seat right now" the lady said as she tried to reach a document in a locker . Due to the predicament Hillary was facing, he found himself in a new environment. All the faces he saw were strange to him, he had no place to stay for the night. Before his money got missing, he was staying with Sambo and Badmus in a one room apartment. He could not go back there for two reasons. First, he had no transport fare on him, secondly, he needed to stay close by inother to meet the manager, things would be much easier for him if he is accepted since he won't be spending much inother to get to his place of work. He made up his mind to start a new life in his present location. . "Please i don't have any place to go, i'm homeless" Hillary said hoping the lady would offer him help. . "That is not my business gentleman, if you don't mind, i have things to do" . Without altering any other word, Hillary turned and made his way out of the building.... . "Oh my God!, i'm sorry, i did not mean to ruin your cloth" a lady said as she tried to clean up the mess on Hillary's shirt . "It is alright, don't bother, i will clean it up myself" Hillary said as he tried to stop her . Hillary was deep in thought that he did not recognise the lady coming. The lady on the other hand was in a hurry when she collided with him. She felt guilty because of the damage she caused on Hillary's shirt . "Ohh, i'm sure you must have been going to your work place before i collided with you, now, i have ruined your cloth" the lady said with a lot of pity written all over her face . "You don't need to put any blame on yourself, i wasn't actually going to work, infact, i did not know were i was going" Hillary said still looking confused . "I don't understand, you mean you didn't know where you were going?" the lady asked looking curious . "Yes, i actually came here by accident. the money i worked for a very long time got missing, i was about taking it to the bank before it happened" Hillary narrated . "Oh, i'm very sorry but you should have been careful, you know how this city operates. Where exactly do you live?" . "I stay with two friends, but i can't go back now, the place is a little bit far" . "Have this, use it for your transport" the lady said as she stretch her hands to hand over the money to Hillary . "Sorry i didn't tell you, i'm to return here tomorrow to see the manager, i showed interest in a particular job. i can't go back now" Hillary explained . "In that case you are looking for where to stay right?" the lady asked . "Yes i am" Hillary responded hopefully. " . Let me get one or two things from the supermarket, i will be right back. Ohhh!, sorry for my bad manners, i'm Julian" she said as she turned back to face Hillary . "I'm Hillary" . "Nice meeting you Hillary, like i said, i will be right back" . With a great sign of relief, Hillary felt renewed again . "So there are still good people in this world" Hillary said still feeling shocked . "What if i successfully deposited that money? where would i have been by now" he wasn't expecting to answer that question . "When things are falling out of place, it is actually falling into place" His mother's words flashed back into his memory . When Hillary was staying with Sambo and Badmus, he was never for once comfortable. They drink and smoke alot. On one occassion, he was almost tempted to join them. They stayed out late and usually came back feeling as if someone was chasing them, their actions made him suspect they were criminals . "A new hope, a new environment, a new friend..." he thought . "Hillary i'm done, can we go now?" "Yes we can......
