You... You were in my dream, weren't you?

 

February 4,1995

"Star, I know you hid your chucks under the bed, you better go bring it out before the school bus gets here" Luci says to her four year old daughter who looks like the world had decided to fall on shoulders today.

"But.. Mom. . I don't want to go to school"

"You have to go to school girl, It's what the other kids do these days" Luci says with a smile, it's Star's first day of school today and even if she's trying to hide it she's as nervous as her daughter.

"Mooum"

"Staarr" Luci says, glaring at her until she eventually gives up and marches upstairs to go get her All Stars.

Luci shakes her head, preparing Star's Lunch pack, the little baby in her tummy kicks and she pats it.

"You excited to see your big sis going to school today?" Luci asks the little baby bump and it gives another kick which makes her laugh.

Star marches down the stairs, her pink chucks worn and her pink sparkly backpack across her shoulders.

"Do I really have to go mummy?"

"Yes Starr"

"But... But i don't have any friends" She laments and Luci chuckles to herself, knowing how hard it must have been for her since they moved into the new house.

It's just that Marx got deployed and she couldn't stay in the big house all by herself so she moved towns to be close to her own family.

She smiles at Star, wishing Marx was here to see his baby and hoping that he's safe wherever he is.

Star sighs, her little shoulders shaking as she looks around the cafeteria and tries to decide where to sit. 

She wishes her dream boy was here, she keeps dreaming of a boy with dark wings and hair and a star tattoo on his head. 

She wishes he was here to talk to her. 

"Do you want to seat with me?" She turns to see a black skinned girl smiling at her, a liitle like she's been waiting for her. 

"Uh..." 

The girl waves her over. 

"It's fine, my skin won't stain yours, I like your hair by the way" She says moving a little to the side to allow Star sit beside her. 

"Uh, thank you" Star says, a little grateful for the interaction, as a shy child it's a little hard for her to blend in. 

"I'm Mila by the way" The black skinned girl says, smiling wider this time, a gap tooth reveals. 

"I'm Star" Star says and she smiles at the girl.

June 3rd, 1995

When Star got home she knew something was different, she knew that something was wrong, immediately. 

Even her little girl body felt it. 

"Mummy?" 

"Over here star" Her mother's voice calls from the kitchen and she moves towards it. 

"You didn't come to get me from school today, Mrs Harriet dropped me off" Star says, referring to Mila's mother, taking off her backpack and turning to her mother. 

She pats her mother's stomach, greeting her brother, she knows her mother is gonna give birth to a boy but she doesn't know how she knows that. 

"What's wrong mummy?" She asks and Luci shakes her head, how she's gonna tell her daughter that her father might be dead is beyond her. 

"Daddy is dead?" Star asks, pulling back from her mother. 

"What?" Luci asks. 

"I heard you in your head, you said daddy was dead" 

"Star..." 

"It's true?" She asks, her liitle child mind unable to wrap around the situation. 

"we are not sure yet, he went on patrol with some of his colleagues and they haven't heard from him" She says, although in her mind she's wondering how she's going to deal with her mind reading daughter, she knows there's a big possibility that Marx is dead somewhere. 

Star pulls away from her mother, looking betrayed. 

"Daddy is not dead, he can't be!" She screams before running upstairs to her room. 

She cries and even when Luci come to comfort her she doesn't budge from her position of crying. 

Soon she falls asleep. 

In her dream the little boy with the dark wings and the shining star in his forehead comes to her. 

"Why are you crying?" He asks. 

"Leave me alone" She says and he frowns puzzedly. 

"Did I do something wrong?" He asks, sitting down beside her. 

Star lifts her head slowly to glare at him. 

"You said you were gonna take care of me, you said you were never going to make me cry! How could you let my daddy die?!" She asks, tears spilling down her cheeks. 

"I..." 

"Don't talk to me, go away!!" 

"Star...." 

"I never wanna see you In my life!" She screams and the little boy backs away. 

"I'm going to fix this, I promise, I'm going to try to fix this so that you won't be angry at me anymore" He says and she continues crying, not answering him.

Same day 

Realm of the gods. 

"Tajiki!" Alixi thunders on getting into his temple. 

The messenger of the gods appears immediately, greatly scared at the tune of Alixi' s voice, not once since his long existence has he ever heard the elemental god this angry. 

"You called for me, majesty" He says, bowing deeply. 

"For what reason did you see fit to steal the soul of the father of my blessed?" He asks and Taki takes a step back... 

Every one knew that Alixi had gone mad because of a child, he had gone mad protecting the little human, they didn't know what exactly to make of the fact that Alixi had become obsessed with the little child he had given his blessing to. 

"Majesty..." 

"It wasn't his time to die yet, why is he dead? Why did I not get notified?He's under my blessing, he doesn't go to the underworld without my say so"

"Majesty...." 

"She cried.." He says quietly as if in an afterthought, as if speaking to himself. 

"Majesty..." Taji does not finish before he finds himself pinned to the opposite wall by tongues of fire. 

When Alixi spoke, he spoke with the voice of a thousand stars. 

"You will go back to the council and you will tell them, they either dry the tears from the eyes of my blessed or they will have a war on their hands" 

Taji nods, his head threatening to burst under the pressure of Alixi's power. 

"Did you hear all of that?" Alixi asks and Tajiki nods. 

"Words Tajiki..

"Yes... Maje.. Sty" He says, swallowing the pain. 

He gets released from the wall and taji does not waste a moment before disappearing from the presence of Alixi.

Same day. 

"Star? Star?.." Luci calls. 

"Yes mummy?" Star asks, standing from her bed

"Star,dear, they found your father, he got lost in the forest and injured his leg bit he's fine" Luci says, the relief evident in her voice. 

"Really?" Star questions, bouncing up from the chair. 

"Yes, dear" 

"Oh, thank the gods" Star breaths and Luci frowns, although not questioning the choice of her daughter's words.
