Tears Of Summayah - Episode 57

 

Jamiu returned home the next day, he rushed to the hospital. His mother was his only hope, if anything happens to her then he is doomed. He got there, called Jennifer and she went out  immediately to bring him. 

Jennifer:Hi baby. 

Jamiu:Hi, where is my mother? How is she? 

Jennifer:Calm down, the doctors tried their best. She is alright, Alhamdulilah but they still need to observe her for a while . Her condition was critical when we brought her in, she is responding to treatment. I hope she wakes up very soon, i was so scared. 

Jamiu:All i want is just for me to see her right now. Where is the doctor? I need to talk to him. (He was so impatient) 

Jennifer:Calm down. 

Jamiu:My mother is lying in one of this hospital bed and you want me to calm down? She is fighting for her life, do you expect me to sit down here. (He yelled)

Jennifer:I...I...didn't mean it like that. She is like a mother to me too, i can feel your pain. (She held his hand) Just calm down, i will be here for you, okay? 

Jamiu:(He calmed down) I am so sorry for yelling at you. 

Jennifer:I will take you to the doctor. My mum is with him, he must be explaining somethings to her. 

Jamiu:Thanks.

(They walked into the doctor's office, Jamiu was so tensed and Jennifer understood what he was going through, she squeezed his hand and it calmed him down a little bit

. He greeted the doctor, the doctor asked who he was and he tried explaining but was finding it hard to speak, Yusrah talked on his behalf.) 

Yusrah:Doctor, he is the patient's only son who happens to be my friend. 

Doctor:Ohh. You can have your seat. 

Jamiu:Thank you sir, how is my mum? 

Doctor:All thanks to God, we were able to operate on her and it was successful. We have done some tests and the impact of whatever the culprit used to hit her on the head was so serious. I believe it was not even once. We can only know if there is no complications if she regains her consciousness and i pray it is very soon. 

Jamiu:Thank you so much sir. My mom will be okay, in sha Allah. 

Doctor:Be rest assured that she will be fine.She lost a lot of blood and we were about to give up on her but she was strong. She fought and defeated. 

Jamiu:Can i see her right now? 

(He was about to reply him when a nurse came in to his office.) 

Nurse:The woman in the intensive care unit has regained consciousness. 

Doctor:(He stood up immediately) Alhamdulilah, let's go. Your mum has woken up. 

Jamiu:Subhanallah.

(They all walked in the direction of the Doctor, Jamiu prayed inwardly for his mother. As he entered the ICU, his heart wept as he saw his mother connected with a lot of tubes, he could feel her pain as she lay on the bed blinking her tired eyes. He gently moved towards her and held her hands in his. The doctor examined her and told her to do certain things which she responded to. Jennifer was really scared to enter because she knew she was going to be exposed if she enters.) 

Jamiu:Mother. I was so worried sick about you, i can't imagine what would have happened to me if you didn't pull through. I was so scared. 

(Mrs Aminat looked at his son, she knew she had done the wrong thing in her life. All the memories of her maltreating Summayah played like a movie in front of her and she couldn't stop crying. She had made the biggest mistake of her life, she knew she ruined her son's life by listening to Jennifer.)

Jamiu:Why are you crying, is it hurting? (He wiped her tears) Please, talk to me. 

Yusrah:Aminat, just say something. Tell us what happened that day. (Mrs Aminat eyes widened, she looked at the room and couldn't find the cause of her misery in the four corners of room.) 

Jamiu:I think Jennifer can answer that question. 

Yusrah:Where did she go to? 

Jamiu:She was right here with us just now. 

Yusrah:(She looked at the direction of the door and saw her standing.) Won't you come in and see your soon to-be mother-in-law? 

Jennifer:I...I (She was lost for words, right there, she knew she was in deep hot soup. Her life will be ruined if Mrs Aminat open her mouth to speak, Jamiu will not spare her. The thought of him going back to reconcile with Summayah irked her. If it is going to ever happen that way, she would kill Summayah even if she has to spend the rest of her life in jail, she will do anything to be with him.) 

Jamiu:(He moved closer to Jennifer) Why are you lost, i know you must be tired but just see her now. 

Jennifer:I...I...am...scared. Mother is in a bad state and i feel the guilt of not defending her since i was also there. I didn't try my best to protect her. 

Jamiu:You are strong now, do it for me. It is not your fault. 

Jennifer:Okay. (She mustered up her courage, and saw her. They both looked at each other and Mrs Aminat eyes widened at the sight of her, she was so perplexed. Her heart beat increased. They were all amazed by her reaction.)

Mrs Aminat:(Mrs Aminat tried to move her mouth but she couldn't)Ha...haa... Haa. (She pointed towards Jennifer with her finger and beads of sweat begin to form on her head.)

Jamiu:Mother, what is wrong. Doctor please tell me what is wrong with my mother. Why can't she say anything to us? Just tell me. 

Doctor:We have to conduct more test on her and i advice you leave right now. The patient is still in shock, you will cause more damage to her brain. she is just recovering and you can't stress her like this. 

(Jennifer was a little bit relieved that she released the breath she didn't know she was holding in. Her trouble is gone for a while, she can be with him if she wants. His mother can go to hell for all she cares. Jamiu and Yusrah left the room with a heavy heart, he couldn't process why his mother reacted that way the moment she saw Jennifer.) 

Jamiu:Maybe she was just happy that her soon to be daughter-in-law was not attacked or injured. Yes! That's it, there was no other reason for his mother to get scared like that.

The doctor came out after an hour and Jamiu rushed to him to know how his mother was. 

Jamiu:How is my mother? 

Doctor:Her condition is quite complicated, you need to follow me to my office so that we can talk better. 

Jamiu:Okay.

(He quickly followed him into his office with Jennifer and her mother. They were told to sit, Jamiu was so restless and Jennifer was praying for Mrs Aminat's death; different kinds of prayer for a particular person, even if you see people panic or pray for another person, it might still be fake concern. It might not be the prayer you think they deserve that they do for that person. Different people with different thoughts, different circumstances.) 

Doctor:Hmm, with the tests we found out your mother has Aphasia and Quadriplegia. She... 

Jamiu:Can you tell me the meaning of all this because i can't seems to understand anything. Afasia or what did you call it? I just want to know how my mother is, spare me all this medical terms you are using. 

Yusrah:Watch the way you speak to him, we are all perplexed. You need to calm yourself.

Jamiu:I am so sorry. 

Doctor:Aphasia is a  communication disorder that results from damage or injury to language parts of the brain.ke .
Aphasia gets in the way of a person's ability to use or understand words. Aphasia does not impair the person's intelligence. People who have aphasia may have difficulty speaking and finding the "right" words to complete their thoughts. They may also have problems understanding conversation, reading and comprehending written words, writing words, and using numbers.

The patient may have muscle weakness in the mouth called dysarthria, they may have trouble getting to move the muscle of the mouth to say the right words called Apraxia. They can also have problems with swallowing called Dysphagia.

Quadriplegia is a paralysis caused by illness or injury that results in the partial or total loss of use of all four limbs and torso; paraplegia is similar but does not affect the arms. The loss is usually sensory and motor, which means that both sensation and control are lost. Tetraparesis or
quadriparesis , on the other hand, means muscle weakness affecting all four limbs. It may be flaccid or spastic.

Well, we have to run a lot of other test on her but she has a brain injury. The culprit has hit her on head severally and it has caused more damage to her. We will need to refer her to a Neurosurgeon and therapy can help her regain herself even if it has a low percentage success but we can make it work if you are all supportive and  don't try to force her to say anything. She needs love and care, she will be fine in no time. 

(Jamiu couldn't understand anything, he didnt believe all what the doctor has said. His mother didn't quarrel with anyone, how could they hurt her mother like that. He was sure it was not a one person job, they must have been more than two or three. It was like the doctor was chanting stories or he was talking to himself, he was so lost and sad that he didn't know when he burst into tears and Yusrah had to hold him, Jennifer was relieved that none of her secret was house. She forgot that there is a day where there won't be any secret, that day where she won't be able to plead or repent.)

“And be afraid of the Day when you shall be brought back to Allah. Then every person shall be paid what he earned, and they shall not be dealt with unjustly.”

Quran ( Surah Al-Baqarah , Verse 281)

“Everyone shall taste death. And only on the Day of Resurrection shall you be paid your wages in full. And whoever is removed away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise, he indeed is successful. The life of this world is only the enjoyment of deception (a deceiving thing).”
Quran ( Surah Aal-e- Imran , Verse 185)

And if Allah were to seize mankind for their wrong-doing, He would not leave on it (the earth) a single moving (living) creature, but He postpones them for an appointed term and when their term comes, neither can they delay nor can they advance it an hour (or a moment).
Quran ( Surah An-Nahl , Verse 61)

Jennifer forget her Aakhirah all because of one man! She sold her Aakhirah just to stay with a man! Forgetting that dunya is just a test that we need to pass or fail before meeting our Lord. 

Doctor:Just have faith that she would be fine, we would start the treatment as soon as possible. 

Jamiu:Thank you so much, can...i...see her right now? 

Doctor:Speak softly when you go there. One of you can stay with her in case she needs anything. I will be back to check up on her. 

Jamiu:Thank you so much. 

(He shaked his hand and they all left his office. Jamiu summoned his courage to see his mother before going home to get her clothes. He saw her staring at the ceiling, he gently placed his hands on hers, she turned to look at him and tears welled up her eyes.) 

Jamiu:Mo...Mother.

Mrs Aminat:J...Ja...

Jamiu:You don't need to force yourself, the doctor said you will be fine very soon. You will get enough treatment, i will make sure you are fine. 

Jennifer:(She ran towards her and smirked) You will be fine mother. (She turned to jamiu) Hmm, i will stay with mother while you go home and bring necessary things you know she will need. My mum is also waiting for you outside, hurry up and come back. 

Jamiu:Thank you so much. I will be right back. (He kissed his mother's forehead before exiting the door.) 

(Jennifer made sure he was out of sight when she shut the door and laughed to her heart content while Mrs Aminat was glued to the hospital bed.) 

Jennifer:Tsk, Tsk. Mother-in-law, i thought you said you want to tell your son about my promiscuous act. Go ahead and tell him right away. Phew, i forgot you can't because you are a living corpse, this is where you will be confined while i marry your precious son. I told you sometime ago that nobody will ever come in between jamiu and i because i will kill them if i have to. 

(Mrs Aminat tried to move her hands but she couldn't. Regrets were the only thing she felt at that moment, she fought an angel for a she-devil, she let go of that princess who couldn't look her in the face and talk back. The girl who respected her so much, she was so foolish to believe Jennifer over her daughter-in-law.)

Jennifer:Mother, you don't need to stress yourself, i will still marry your son and if you try in any way to stop me, i will kill me. I. Jennifer. Promise. You. That. You know, i will do a clean job just like i did for your dumb daughter-in-law, Summayah. The girl is so stupid and slow, i had to use that opportunity to ruin her. She is not my match. 

Although, i didn't plan her pregnancy and i don't know how she did it. All of the misery she received was through me. I planned the pictures and audio, everything was my plan. I wasn't satisfied with everything, i told you about her new family and remember we humiliated her together, we planned on how it will be spread out to the public and it worked. We did all other things together, mum. 
 Phew, thank God she is out of his life. You helped me with everything and i am grateful that you couldn't figure out who the master behind everything was. I was like a masked lady, you shouldn't have seen me together with a man that day, we would have just been fine, no pain would have been inflicted on you. I guess that is what has been ordained for you, i hope you enjoy your stay here while i shed fake tears and enjoy my life with your son and My. Man. 

(She kissed her forehead before turning to leave while Mrs Aminat felt disgusted with herself. She remembered the verse from the Quran:

"And whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it"~~Quran 99:8

She is reaping what she sow!

Jennifer:Bye, mother.
