Uthman woke up very early and did his normal routine, he went straight to his car since it was taken to the mechanic shop the other day and he just brought it back very late. He didn't forget the promise he made to Summayah about her necklace and ring, he had to find it. He hoped nobody saw it or picked it there, he didn't want to disappoint her in any way.

"She is just beginning to smile, i can't take that away from her." He thought.

Uthman:Iman, come out right now. I need to look for a jewelry.(He shouted)

Iman:(He came out)What are you looking for?

Uthman:Did you perhaps see a ring and necklace in the car.

Iman:No, i didn't.

Uthman:Check the back seat for me and if we didn't find anything, we would go back to that spot.

Iman:Which spot is that?

Uthman:You know the lady we rescued that night?

Iman:Yes.

Uthman:She told me she was holding it when she fainted, it must be somewhere in the car or that place.

Iman:What if it has been stolen in the car or someone has seen it in that area.

Uthman:Just leave "What if" and look for it.

Iman:(He checked the car thoroughly and couldn't find it) I can't find it, the mechanic must have seen it or his workers might have taken it.

Uthman:You shouldn't think like that, you are not sure . Why are you accusing this guys? Qazeem would have told me if he sees any of my belongings in the car, he returned the money he saw the other day

. You shouldn't doubt anyone especially when you don't even have a solid prove to back up your statements, just because we didn't see it doesn't mean he took it.

Iman:I am so sorry, i just thought we shouldn't trust anyone blindly.

Uthman:You shouldn't assume blindly too.Get into the car, we are going to find it before going to the hospital.

This hadeeth was narrated by at-Tirmidhi (2442), Ahmad (1630) and Ibn Hibbaan (722) from al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: I memorized from the Messenger of Allah(blessings and peace of Allah be upon him): “Leave that which makes you doubt for that which does not make you doubt, for truth leads to reassurance and lies lead to uncertainty.”

Classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani (may Allah have mercy on him).
It was also narrated by an-Nasaa’i (5614) without the additional words “for truth leads to reassurance…”

Al-Mannaawi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: “Leave that which makes you doubt” means: refrain from that which you are uncertain as to whether it is good or bad, halaal or haraam “for that which does not make you doubt” that is: turn instead to that about which you are not uncertain, that which you are sure is good and halaal.
“for truth leads to reassurance” means: the heart is at ease with it
“and lies lead to uncertainty” means: they make the heart anxious and uneasy.

At-Teebi said: This phrase explains the preceding words. What it means is: if you find yourself doubting (and uncertain about) something, then leave it, for the heart of the believer is at ease with the truth and is doubtful about lies and falsehood.

Being doubtful about something is an indication that it may be false and wrong, so beware of it; and your feeling at ease with something is an indication that it is true, so take hold of it.

End quote from Fayd al-Qadeer 3/529
Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may be pleased with him.)

Iman:I need to get my books, i will be right back.

Uthman:Be fast, we need to get to the hospital as soon as possible. (He remembered he had to take some clothes and other things to her.)

Iman:(He ran back to the car) Let's go.

Uthman:Hmm,Is there toothpaste and brush that hasn't been used?

Iman:Yes,they are in the storeroom.

Uthman:Get it for me, sponge and soap too.  I will get some clothes for her in my room.

Iman:Clothes? Where do you want to get  lady's wear in your room?

Uthman:You have a short memory.I have a lot of them in my wardrobe, my wife has a lot.

Iman:I am so sorry for asking that question.

Uthman:You shouldn't be sorry, just go and get that while i go to my room. Make it snappy, please.

(Uthman went into his room, he took out her clothes and packed it in a bag before picking up her photo frame from his drawer. He said his salaam before speaking.)

Uthman:Husna,i want to give out your clothes for charity. I know you would have done this same if you are alive, she is just like you. I will be bringing her to our house very soon, she is going to be staying with us. Our daughter will be here to have someone to talk to other than my mother and maryam. I have to go now to have my job completed. (He drops the picture frame in the drawer and gently close the door, he got to his car and saw iman already waiting for him) Let's go.

(They entered the car and drove off to search for Summayah's treasure, on getting there, Uthman searched everywhere while Iman was standing all fraustrated about the whole thing.)

Iman:Brother uthman, you can just tell her to forget the ring or whatever, she should understand that you have done enough for her.

Uthman:Just shut your mouth, Iman. You complain a lot and i hate it. Just help me or sit in the car and wait for me. I promised her and it would be better for you to help me,so that we can leave here very soon. Just bring out your phone, press the flashlight button and check in the grasses__there are possibilities that it might have fallen in there.

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “The signs of a hypocrite are three: when he speaks he lies, when he promises he breaks it, and when entrusted he betrays his trust.” [Sahih Bukhari]

Therefore, one must be careful not to make promises casually or to make promises that one has no intention to keep.

Iman:(He grumbled, he had no other choice but to join his brother in the search. He checked the wet grasses, Lo and behold__he found her necklace lying beneath, he shouted.)I found it.

Uthman:(He moved closer to him)Alhamdulilah, let's check again. The ring will be there too.

Iman:You are right.

(Uthman looked further, by Allah's mercy and his determination_he found it lying there.)

Uthman:I found it,Alhamdulilah.

Iman:Phew, Alhamdulilah. I wonder what would have happened if we didnt see it today.

Uthman:I told you that we would see it,that is the result of been positive and trusting Allah. He makes everything easy for us,all you need is to trust Him.

Iman:You are right bro. Lets move it, you are late already.

Uthman:(He hands it over to iman)Okay, keep it save in your pockets. I dont want to hear stories.

Iman:Okay.

***
(Summayah was up already, waiting for Maryam or Uthman to come see her but she hasnt seen anyone. A nurse came in just in time, she checked her body temperature and other necessary things to be checked.Summayah was a little bit nervous thinking it might be Jennifer that sent someone to kill her.)

Nurse:You are getting a lot better, do you need anything?

Summayah:N...No...I want to use the toilet.

Nurse:Okay,let's go.

Summayah:(She streched her hand for support and she took her straight  to the and did her business. She placed her gently on the bed.)Thank you.

Nurse:You need anything?

Summayah:Uhmm, is brother uthman around? I haven't seen him today.

Nurse:I am sure he would be here any moment from now.

Summayah:Okay.

Nurse:Take care, i will come back to check up on you.

(The nurse moved out of the ward to see other patients. She beckoned to her seat, she called the attention of the other nurse sitting beside her.)

Nurse:Fatimah (She looked at all direction to see if anyone was coming, when she was sure nobody was close, she sat down.)

Nurse Fatimah:Yes (Concentrated with the book she is reading.)

Nurse Khair:Just face me na.

Nurse Fatimah:Haba Khair, is not a must i face you before i can hear you.You want to start your amebo right?

Nurse Khair:Shush,Just shut up and listen. You know the girl in ward 105.

Nurse Fatimah:Hmm, Summayah?

Nurse Khair:Yes,Yes.

Nurse Fatimah:What happened to her.

Nurse Khair:She is pregnant.

Nurse Fatimah:So? How is that your own business or is that your work as a nurse here?

Nurse Khair:Dont you think Doctor Uthman is responsible. You know all those gentle looking face, they are very dangerous sometimes. He might be the one that forced himself  on her and beat her. When she was brought in, she was traumatized and to top it all, he was the one that rushed her into the hospital. She was even asking me if i have seen him today.

Nurse Fatimah:Subhanallah Khair, Why do you like to spread rumour. We all know she was saved by the doctor, even if it is what you predicted, it is still non of your business. I do not see how it really affects you here.

Nurse Khair:So you believe what you heard?

Nurse Fatimah:Yes, because it is the truth. So you expect me to believe what you just cooked up in your mind?

(The both of them didnt know Uthman and Iman was behind them listening to their conversation.)

Uthman:Khair, how dare you. (He shouted).
How could you say all this without evidence. You have slandered a sister and even if it is true,Isn't that backbiting?

Nurse Khair:Ehmm...ehmm...Sir...Sir...

Uthman:You dont have anything to say right? You don't know what Allah and His Messenger,Prohet Muhammad (S.A.W) said concerning slandering and backbiting.

Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting). And fear Allah. Verily, Allah is the One Who forgives and accepts repentance, Most Merciful” [49:12]

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Do you know what gheebah (backbiting) is?” They said, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He said, “Saying something about your brother that he dislikes.” It was said, “What if what I say about my brother is true?” He said, “If what you say is true then you have backbitten about him, and if it is not true, then you have slandered him.”
[Muslim]

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by two graves and said, “They are being punished, but they are not being punished for anything that was difficult to avoid. One of them used to walk about spreading malicious gossip (nameemah), and the other used not to take precautions to avoid getting urine on himself when he urinated.” Then he called for a green branch, which he split in two and planted a piece on each grave, and said, “May their torment be reduced so long as these do not dry out.” [al-Bukhaari, Muslim]

Iman:Brother Uthman.

Uthman:(He ignored him and continued talking)You know this girl you are busy talking about is just recovering. Do you know what she has been going through? Do you know how much she has been struggling to smile? Instead of you to be with her so that she could get better, you are doing this. How do you expect her to feel if she hears about everything you have just said. You are a Nurse not a Murderer, stop adding to someone's problem by tanishing their image. It is said that if you don't have something good to say then keep shut.

Nurse Khair:I am...so...sorr..y...sir.

Uthman:Why were you scared when you saw me? You didn't fear the One who has created you when you were blabbing.

Nurse Khair:I am so sorry sir, please forgive me for my mistakes.

Uthman:(Turning to Fatimah)You should have told her to shut up, but you choose to listen to her rubbish.

Nurse Fatimah:I am so sorry but i was trying to stop her from talking further.

Uthman:No problem.Khair, just follow me right now, you have to ask Summayah to forgive you just as you did to me right now.

Nurse Khair:Sir...Sir...I...

Uthman:No more talks, follow me right now.(He picked up the items he brought for Summayah, iman and khair followed him immediately.)

**
(Summayah heard the door knob turned and she knew it was going to be Uthman. She sat upright, Nurse khair entered to make sure she was well dressed before beckoning on uthman. Summayah had a big smile on her face when she saw Uthman.)

Uthman:Salam Alaikum.

Summayah:Walaykum salam.

Uthman:How are you?

Summayah:Alhamdulilah, better than yesterday.

Uthman:Alhamdulilah.

Summayah:(Looking at the nurse, she saw how uncomfortable she was in)What happened sister?

Uthman:Actually, she is here to ask for your forgiveness. isn't it?

Summayah:She was here a while ago and she was nice to me. I don't understand what is going on.

Nurse Khair:(She burst out in tears)I talked very badly about you and your unborn child. Can you find it in your heart to forgive me?

Summayah:(She smiled at her and the nurse was so shoked to see her smile) I know it was a mistake, we all do that because we aren't perfect. When you realise your mistakes, it shows you are a good person. I forgive you because Allah forgives us when we sin so many times, the major thing is repentance. If you are having doubts about anything, you can just ask me.In sha Allah, i will reply you in the best way i can.

Nurse Khair:(She hugged her tightly)Jazakillah khair, i was so scared that you would say something bad or even cry when he asked me to follow him.

Summayah:I am used to all this, i am least affected. By the way, the father of my child is still unknown but you can assist me by praying to Allah, He is the one that eases pain, i know He is going to answer my prayers. One day, the whole truth that is hidden will be out for the world to see.(She fought with the tears but she had to surrender because she was too weak to let them stay in there, they dropped out of her eyes like a running tap, the nurse patted her back and in no time, she stopped crying.)Sister, let's forget this and smile.

Nurse Khair:(She released her from the embrace and laughed)May Allah (S.W.T) bless you and your unborn child, you are very strong and i admire your courage.I am so sorry once again.(She turned to uthman)Forgive me ,please.

Uthman:I have forgiven you.

Nurse Khair:I will come back to check on you.(With that she left.)

(Uthman sat down,Iman who has been observing all along, sat down beside him.)

Uthman:Summayah, i brought this clothes for you to wear.(He placed it on her bedside.)I  also got some food for you to eat.

Summayah:Thank you...Who is he(She pointed towards iman)

Uthman:Iman, he is my brother.

Summayah:Ohh, that's good. What about Ahmed that i saw at the hotel that day.

Uthman:He is my brother too but you know this street guys. He is very close to me and i see him as one.Whenever i needed an hotel to sleep for the night or something, i just call him.

Summayah:I understand.Brother uthman, i am so tired of staying in the hospital. I hate the smell of drugs, especially injections.

Uthman:Dont worry, you will be discharged tomorrow and get to see all my family members. I am sure they would be very happy to see you.I will get a wheelchair for you, so that you can go out today and feel the cool breeze.I also found your ring and necklace(He hands it over to her.)

Summayah:Yayyy, today is a good day for me.I hope it was not stressful for you?

Uthman:It wasn't

Summayah:Thank you, this is the only thing i have left.I can now eat peacefully.

Uthman:Keep it safe,Naughty girl, i have to go. See you in the afternoon.

Summayah:Bye, Jazak Allahu khayran for everything.

Uthman: Wa ʾantum fa-jazākumu-llāhu khayran.

(Summayah was so grateful to Allah for making her haply once more, even if the past still haunts her, she is not going to let it affect her future. She hoped and prayed to see the bright side of life from now onwards.)

Praise be to Allah.

Firstly:
The Muslim has to guard his tongue and avoid things that have been forbidden. Among these forbidden things which people often take lightly are gheebah (backbiting), buhtan (slander) and nameemah (malicious gossip).

Gheebah or backbiting means speaking about a Muslim in his absence and saying things that he would not like to have spread around or mentioned. Buhtan or slander means saying things about a Muslim that are not true, or in other words telling lies about him. Nameemah or malicious gossip means telling one person what another said in order to cause trouble between them.

There is a great deal of evidence to show that these actions are haram (impermissible). It will suffice for us to mention just a few of them in order to demonstrate that they are haram.

For a person to say of another, “He cannot control his tongue (or he has a loose tongue)” is undoubtedly one of those things that a person would dislike to have said about him. If it is true, then it is gheebah (backbiting), and if it is not true then it is buhtan (slander).

Everyone who does any kind of backbiting, slander or malicious gossip has to repent and pray for forgiveness, and that is between him and Allaah. If he knows that any of his words reached the person about whom he was speaking, then he should go to him and ask him to forgive him. But if he does not know, then he should not tell him; rather he should pray for forgiveness for him and make du’a(supplication) for him, and speak well of him in his absence just as he spoke against him. Similarly, if he knows that telling him will provoke more enmity, then it is sufficient to make du’a for him, speak well of him and pray for forgiveness for him.

It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever has wronged his brother with regard to his honour or anything else, let him seek his forgiveness today, before there will be no dinar and no dirham, and if he has any good deeds to his credit they will be taken from him in a manner commensurate with the wrong he did, and if he has no good deeds, then some of his counterpart’s bad deeds will be taken and added to his burden.” [al-Bukhaari].

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah said:
Whoever wrongs a person by slandering him, backbiting about him or insulting him, then repents, Allah will accept his repentance, but if the one who was wronged finds out about that, he has the right to settle the score. But if he slandered him or backbit about him and the person did not hear of that, then there are two views according to the scholars, both of which were narrated from Ahmad, the more correct of which is that he should not tell him that he spoke against him in his absence. It was said that he should rather speak well of him in his absence just as he spoke badly of him in his absence, as al-Hasan al-Basri said: the expiation for gheebah is to pray for forgiveness for the person about whom you backbit. Majmoo’ al-Fataawa.

And Allah knows best
