I woke up...

The big  beautiful chandelier hanging from the roofing caught my eyes....where had that come from?

I looked around, while still lying down..the big closet next to me wasn't mine..I frowned and  swept my eyes around the whole room..the wall papers looked old-fashioned but beautiful..the mirror next to what seemed like a study...it wasn't a study, it was a dressing table. On it was an opened box,,I could see expensive jewelries hanging out of the box..

I could see wigs of different hair types on the heads on the dolls of the table..

This wasn't my room....or was it..?

It seemed familiar and so strange..I stood up..unable to understand the mystery of it all,,was I still dreaming? The room looked  like those rooms you find in the normal American-historical movies..old-fashioned but lavishly furnished .

That was when I realized I was wearing a cream lingerie,,the neckline was studded with expensive beads and diamonds....I stared at them as I touched each with my fingers.....real diamond?

There was a stool by my bed and on it was a newspaper or what seemed like it..boldly written on it was  June 12 ,1985....

I pinched myself multiple times to be sure I wasn't dreaming..

"Please, wake up, wake up, wake-up" I said to myself as I flipped through the pages of the newspaper, It couldn't have been 1985..I never knew it was going to go down like this..it must be a dream..

How could i come from 2025 to 1985! but I knew where I had earlier been was a dream..this time..it was real.....dear God.....is this it?

A light knock sounded on the door . My chest was rising and falling and I made no response.

Again, the knock came  and I manage to utter.."y..yes..come in.." 

Stupid! I could have asked who was it?

The door opened and a lady came in,,she was wearing an apron on her gown, on her kneck and wrists were different beads,  and in her hand was a silver tray containing jug and a cup and other small containers.

She seemed to be in her early twenties..I didn't even know how old I was in this year and I am thinking about some other's age.

She was quiet as she set the tray on the table and then carefully pour the content of the jug into the mug

. For that instant, i forgot my worries.

She took a spoon and measured small quantity of sugar from one of the containers and added into the mug. She stirred and turned to face me.

"Do you want me to bring it over or I should leave it on the table?"

If not that she faced me , I could have sworn she was talking to someone behind me. She wasn't looking at me...she seemed....scared?

"It's okay, thank you very much" I replied as politely as I could and then she stared at me with a puzzled look as I said "thank you".

Just as she turned to go, out of an impulse I quickly said.

"Good morning.."

She stopped in her track and turned,  puzzled than ever, she curtsied. "Good morning your royal highness"

"What! My what!"  She just used what…whose royal highness. There must be a mistake somewhere…Just as I was battling this in my mind there was a noise outside and I heard pleasantries being exchanged . Out of curiosity I walked towards the window, taking the cup with me..as she drew the curtains apart. My room seemed to be at the top of the building as I looked down at what was happening outside.

The compound seemed quite large...very large… Just like all those big royal compounds you see inside movies. There were guards everywhere at their post, there were  flowers forming a particular pattern from the side where I was looking.  I could hear the morning chirp of birds. I couldn't remember the last time I heard that.

Two  guards were attending to a man whose back was turned and I froze.  he was wearing a bowler hat , arms akimbo. His leather jacket was long reaching his boots.

My heart was beating rapidly as I held the mug tightly..

"Bree....who...who ,,is that man?"

Wait..how did I know her name was Bree?

Bree looked at me as if I was mad..

"You mean the guards?"

"No..the one with the guards"

She frowned again....

"My lady..but..but that is your husband"

"My what!"............

Heheheh! That just happened. let me ask, how will you feel if you slept being single and you wake up finding out you have been married.....?
