Regret - Episode 15
Amy stayed in the hospital till her son went back to sleep. She sat there and was thinking. "What would be her next action?"
"What was she to do to get that kind of money?"
She had prayed, she fasted, she begged, there wasn't any solution forthcoming. There was only one remaining option. The evil proposal
. She wanted to wade off the thought because she knew that if she did it, she will spend her whole life regretting it. But No, she thought. There wasn't anything else she could do. She was already pushed to the wall. She told herself that she would do anything, even if it required drastic measures. He was her son. She could sacrifice her life for him. As she was still in deep thought, a nurse came into the room.
"Ma'am, the doctor would like to see you"
"Okay, I'm coming"
She knew what he was calling her for already, to give her the reminder about the ultimatum of her son's final date for the surgery.
She walked to his office to fulfill all righteousness. Everyone that saw her knew that there was something really wrong. She reached the doctor's office and knocked on the door.
"Yes, you can come in" the doctors voice was heard from inside saying in reply to the knock.
"Oh Ms Amy, come in, take your seat" the doctor said immediately she entered his office.
"I guess you already know what I want to tell you, because it's what I remind you about every now and then"
"Yes doctor, I know already" Amy replied.
"It's remaining just two weeks, Amy, you have to come up with something very fast, or your son's life would be at stake, they need to start the surgery early enough or there may be more complications if it's done later, so it's better you do something before this week runs out. I would have loved to help but as you can see, the country's economy is not in good shape" the doctor babbled on.
Amy just watched as the doctor talked, tears started to roll down her eyes

. It reached a point where she couldn't even hear what he was saying anymore. She just stared into thin air. She was lost in her own world. She already had enough problems hanging around her shoulders. It was not the doctor's job to remind her of it everytime.
"Ms Amy? " the doctor called, she was so lost in thought that she didn't hear him.
"Ms Amy?" he called once more clicking his fingers.
"Yes... Yes" she answered as if she just woke up from a trance.
"Yes doctor, what were you saying? " Amy asked.
"I said you can go" the doctor replied.
"Okay... Okay.. You've finished saying what you were saying?" Amy asked.
"Yes Ms , you can go now" the doctor said.
He watched as she stood up to go. He pitied the woman.
"She may just run mad very soon" he thought.
Amy walked back to her son's ward. She entered it and sat down on the chair she was always on, the one nearest to her son. The her mind quickly went to her madam. She realized she hasn't seen Rose in about almost three weeks. She felt sorry, but priorities were already set. She couldn't go to work when her son was almost dying in the hospital. She just hoped that her madam would understand when she goes explaining.
"She must have gotten someone new already, since she needs a helping hand" Amy thought.
She knew it was only right for her to go and give her reasons for not showing up at work, but she would do that later. It wasn't among her top priorities. She had to look for a way to get money for her son's treatment first. She decided to go meet her. The woman who gave her the proposal. She just hoped the proposal was still open. She took her purse from the adjoining table and looked at the card she had given her in case she was interested. She decided to give her a call. Her decision was going against all odds. She knew just exactly what to do. She carefully thought out her plan.
