Regret - Episode 17

 

Amy knocked on the gate. The gateman opened the gate for her to enter. 
"Ah madam Amy, e don tey wey I see you oo" Musa the gateman said immediately on Amy's entrance.
"Yes oo, e get plenty things wey dey on top my head, na why you no dey see me" Amy replied. 
"I hope say everything dey alright " the gate man said again. 
"No be anything wey you suppose worry about, I dey alright" Amy said feigning a smile. 
" Abeg Madam Rose dey inside?"
"Yes, she dey"
"Oya now, make I come dey go" Amy said as she walked to the house. 
When she reached the door to the main entrance she rang the doorbell. 
"Yes, who is that? " she heard Rose asking from inside the house. 
"Madam Rose, it's me Amy " Amy replied 
"Oh, Amy" she said as she walked to the door to open it. 
"Amy, how have you been?" Rose asked immediately she opened the door.
"Madam, I'm fine" Amy answered. 
"If you're fine, then what happened?, I haven't seen you here in about  two weeks now"
"Madam, I fell sick oo, I just recovered yesterday" Amy said, hiding her eyes. She felt that if her madam saw her eyes, she would see through her lies.
"We thank God oo, I thought something very bad happened to you

. Thank God you came alas, I don't have strength to start scouting for new maids. I hope you're fully recovered now"
"Yes madam, I'm strong now" Amy replied. 
"I hope so, because there are plenty things to do around the house" Rose said.
"Madam, I'm ready for any chore"
"Since today is Wednesday and it's not your work day,You would come back tomorrow,work starts tomorrow".
"Yes ma, thank you ma" Amy said. 
"You're welcome"
"Madam, I would love to be on my way" Amy said. 
"It's alright, there is no problem"
"Bye madam", Amy said as she walked out of the house.
Rose looked at her as she walked out, she really pitied the poor woman. Despite the sympathy, she thought there was some strangeness in the way she behaved. She noticed it the moment she walked in. She scuffled her feet a lot. She seemed nervous. Coupled with all that she was trying to hide her eyes all the time. It looked like there was something she was hiding but wouldn't tell. Rose concluded she would ask her about it the next day. Maybe there was still something amiss but she wouldn't say it. Maybe she needed more time to rest. "If that's what she need, I won't hesitate to give it to her", Rose thought. 
Meanwhile Amy walked out of the house, she told the gateman goodbye before she walked out of the gate. Immediately she reached outside, she heaved a sigh of relief. The living room had been so stuffy, maybe she was the only one that felt it. She knew she was a very bad liar. She just hoped she would be able to keep up with the lies before Rose noticed anything. She wondered if Rose noticed her uneasiness while they were talking. She walked out of the area fast to take a bus back to the hospital. Her son must be asleep by this time, she thought. 

The next day, Amy went to meet her. She had sent the location where they would meet as promised. When Amy arrived, she was shocked, she saw her there already waiting.
"Amy, you've arrived" she said as Amy took the seat opposite her. 
"Yes, I'm here and I'm not ready for small talk so I would really want you to go straight to the point, just give me the instructions so that I can be on my way". Amy said, an angry expression on her face. 
"Hey, Amy chill a little, I know we're here for business but we don't have to be so cold to each other" she said. 
"So what am I to do?" Amy said waving off her treaty. 
"As I have told you before, you just have to poison Sara, that's all I want. I want her dead. 
Rose looked at her and wondered how someone would be this wicked. How someone would hatch such hate in the person's heart. She looked at herself and laughed, she had no right to judge. She was partaking in the evil act, it made her no different from this evil woman. 
"So, see the poison here, you would put it into her food. It would force her to sleep then she would die in her sleep. That's all". She said. 
Amy looked at her in disgust as she collected the poison. She didn't know what it was but it was colourless and odourless in a colourless bottle. She took it and inserted it into her bag.
