Phoenix Reborn - Episode 20

 

"Idrisi, you have been called here today to discuss the important issues concerning your daughter," the leader begins. He was a scary man but Omar wasn't threatened because he saw him as an o*n little misogynist who always hide behind the deeds of brave warriors.
"What about her. She left, you agreed to her resignation despite my short comings," he replies feigning non interest.
"That's precisely why we are here . We've thought it over and decided to bring her back."
Omar blanches, this was the last thing he'd expected coming here. It would derail all his plan. Plus, with the rebels within the organization, chances were high Olivia would know they were behind everything. That was a recipe for sure disaster.
"I'm sorry but it's not possible."
"Why?"
"Because she's too domesticated now. Plus, I want nothing to do with her."
"Is that it or are you just selfish and want to keep that great asset all to yourself. She's brilliant and has the capital to fund all our projects and causes."
"That money is hers. I will have no part in using a traitor's resources."
"We have it on reliable source that you are in touch with her and have even gone ahead with project DemonFlesh. She's your star pupil too is she not?"

. If they knew about his side project why had they never confronted him before.
"We never questioned you before because despite our reserve, it was promising," one of the leaders tells him as if reading his mind, "and now, seems it was worth it. Besides, with her son in the picture, we could kill her once she outlives her usefulness and place her son on the chair meant for her."
"The son you asked me to kill."
" We didn't know the child would be on the plane. Our information was that he died shortly after birth."
"Excuses!" he shouts slamming the table, "You think she'll care when she learns everything and decides to go on a killing spree. Yes, she could be the key to us winning this war but she could also be the one that destroys us all."
 "Then what do you suggest?"
"Keep her out," he says fury in his eyes.
"And project DemonFlesh?"
"Will proceed as planned. If you want me to train more, I will. If you want me to get money from my daughter, I will. But under no circumstances should she be brought back into the fold. I could approach my grandson with the offer once he's old enough to stand on his own two feet, but until then, my daughter's family is left out."
"And your granddaughter?"
"She's as promising as her mother and equally protective of the boy. But, I'm close to her. So convincing her once Olivia is out of the picture should be easy. That is of course if their mother dies of NATURAL causes and they have no reason to believe foul play."
"But that could take years."
"So what, this organization has stood for decades before my daughter's birth and it will stand for centuries more without her or her resources. This course is greater than a single individual. That's why I've always supported it. Besides, if we must have her, she could proceed as the acting head of DemonFlesh. But she should stay out of the extremist fraction.
"Our brothers in the middle east have asked us to join them to create a single unit. What do you think Idrisi?"
"ISIS?"
"Yes."
"We should not accept. Their ways are too extreme. They would be the death of us," he state with caution.
"Not if we take over leadership. Their own leaders could remain figure heads but we would be the ones controlling things."
"They've agreed to this?"
"They see the promise in DemonFlesh and want to be a part of it. The world's armies have made work rather difficult. This way, we could all infiltrate the general population and hit them hard. They would never even see it coming."
"Interesting," Omar thinks aloud.
"Promising," someone else says.
"Fine, I'll discuss it with her and get back to you. She took a step back from this life despite DemonFlesh, maybe I could help her have a rethink," he says and smiles to himself. This was a promising opportunity that he could not allow pass him.

A week later,
"Is she back?"
"Yes."
"So you've gotten the sample."
"Not yet sir. But we will soon have it."
"I have to know. My family is over the edge of bankruptcy and she could be the key to redeeming us. My st*d son has ruined us and my parents won't even look at me. They feel it is my fault. Everything happening now is as a result of my ignoring an age old curse in my family. Now we are all paying the price.

"Sir, do you think she'll be willing to help you out once she knows the truth? I mean, I've heard stories."
"Don't be silly. I'm still her father and anything anyone says about her is not true. They are simply haters. Now shut up and go back to work."
"Yes sir."
In Kenya,
Olivia has gone back to her normal life and things have finally settled down. She however still cannot shake the feeling that something huge is about to change. Alex had remained in Spain to be with his family while she'd returned to her homeland with the kids. They both needed to be in school and she needed to go back to work. She hadn't built her empire by leaving it in the hands of strangers. Had she done that, she would have lost everything as fast as she made it considering the rate of corruption and theft plaguing the continent.
Leila had told her about her suspicions and though the fear was valid, she was still a bit sceptical. She however didn't completely dismiss the idea because where there is smoke, there is fire blazing too.
With the kind of life she led, coincidences were none existent and assuming something was the difference between whether or not you live to see the next day. She was however confident she would get all her answers soon.
