"Tinu, she is very mad o if she thinks she can destroy me like that!” the breeze carried my mother’s angry rant to my parlour.

I sighed as I slumped on my bed. Anything could happen now and I hoped they were in my favour; my mind was filled with all the bad things that could happen to me because of this stunt.

"Uju, calm down! Ahan, you really need to just calm down so you can think. See ehn let us all go out, just us the parents and Dubem, I am sure that you would solve this in a calmer state", I heard Mrs Shittu tell my mom.

My phone buzzed . It was Dara.

Dara: Babe, I am coming to your room, get ready to open the door and also close it super-fast.

I hurried to the door and waited for her signal, a few minutes later, someone on my door.

"Open up, it is me", I heard Dara's voice and immediately did so. Pulling her in and shutting the door before my mother would magically show up there.

"Ahan calm down na, don't injure me o", she grumbled as she massaged her bruised arm and sat on my bed.

"Reduce your voice aunty, what do we do now?" I asked her as I sat down beside her.

She stopped rubbing her arms to look at me very well.

"Are you HIV positive or it is just banter?" she asked seriously.

"Desperate times call for desperate measures na. Plus, what if I meant it sef?" I asked with a smirk.

"Babe! You know say you dey craze ba?” she asked with a loud laugh.

I chuckled and shushed her.

“Clearly you want your mother to kill you o.

. I can just imagine how fast you ran up here and locked yourself in", she was laughing really hard and I was not sharing in her humour again.

My life is on the line here na.

"Dara, this marraige is one-kind o; can you imagine that my fiancé, Afam is Tobe's older brother?" I whispered to her. She sat there staring at me in shock, this was one of those rare moments where she was speechless, but she recovered fast.

"Bitch shut up!" she screamed.

"You shut up! Reduce your voice before you land me in more trouble jare", I scolded her.

"Okay, sorry, but fam, I cannot believe this. Wait first, was Tobe here today?" I could tell that she was bursting with excitement, she was genuinely worried about me and my marraige dilemma, but she also loved gist and this was definitely hot gist.

"Yes he was o, and maybe I am imagining it, but he seemed so angry, and can you imagine that Afam actually knows that Tobe and I had a thing", I told her.

"Wawuu! And he wants to go through with the wedding?!" she asked, finally whispering.

"Seriously ehn, those ones are mad if they think that I would be a girlfriend to one and wife to the other", I hissed and she chuckled.

"Na wa o! I am sure your parents do not know this and I am sure their parents don't know either", she was saying when her phone buzzed.

"It is a text from Ezinne, our parents are leaving now", she said.

We heard the gate open and a car drives out and a few seconds later someone knocked on my door.

"They are gone", Ezinne says and Dara begins to open the door but I stop her. For all I know this could be a well-laid trap and my mother would be waiting on the other side to rip me apart when I open the door.

"Mummy is out of the house ba?" I asked.

"Yes she is, they all are and they took Dubem with them too. Only Dozie and I are here, oya open the door because we have limited time", she said.

The girl can sha get impatient o. Dara opened the door and truly, there stood an irritated-looking Ezinne and a confused Dozie.

"Dara, what's up? Ezinne why have I been rudely dragged from my room and Meso why does mommy want to kill you. Plus when did the Chibueze's leave?" he asked.

"Oga, your questions plenty sha, but to answer mine, I dragged you from your room because someone has to alert us if mummy and daddy or worse the Chibueze's show up unexpectedly and that someone is you", Ezinne said while she smirked and typed away on her phone.

"Na wa o! You will not even ask whether I want to do it, your own is to be issuing orders", he grumbled.

"Dozie, are you living under a rock abi those headphones are not letting hear word again? The Chibueze's left because their iyawo said that she is HIV positive and that is exactly why your mummy wants to kill her", Dara explained.

He looked at me, his eyes widened in shock.

"Ah, Meso! I hope you have a sensible backup plan o. How could you pull such a stunt? What were you thinking? See ehn, if mummy does not kill you, daddy would disown you. Or worse things could happen sef", he said, looking at all three of us.

"What could possibly be worse than those two?" Ezinne asked.

Good question boo.

"Well, I am talking about the Arsenal. If they call in Grandma, aunty Kainene and aunty Somebi, your own have finish o, you are gonna have to just leave the country or kukuma disappear, because those women are so vicious, I doubt they would be allowing you get away with such an act", he stated in a matter of fact way.

Jesus! He was right, he was pointing out facts I have never even considered, I looked from Dara to Ezinne and Dozie and I let out a scream.

I was so dead.
