I was home in time for dinner. I cleaned up, changed then joined everyone at the table. As usual mum did not disappoint with her dishes. After the meal dad retired early. My sister was glued on the television. It not being a school night she was allowed to watch telly until 10:00 pm. I helped my mum with the dishes then excused myself.

I got inside my bed covers and let my mind wander. Taking that afternoon walk had brought back painful memories i had never cared to talk about . When my parents heard what happened with Caleb they had tried to reach to me so as to help with the pain. I was hurting too much to let anyone in. I had stayed indoors most of the time. My friendship with Lorraine suffered a great deal. As a good freind would do, she would come to check up on me only for me to say i did not want to see anyone. I felt cheated out of love. I was young and my heart so naive that i did not see it coming. When Caleb had confirm all the rumours all i could do was ask why. Why do this to us? I had searched his eyes and all i saw was pain and regret. Nothing could be done now. The paths i had followed in love were now my greatest torments, harbouring memories i wished to forget. He had made me.

I heard a soft knock at the door.

"Can i come in."

It was mum.

"Yes."

I made as if to sit up then changed my mind when i realise my mum was making her way into the covers. We both lay down looking at the ceiling.

"You went to Caleb's place."

"How did you know?" I asked feeling a bit ashamed.

"At dinner you were a bit reserved

. Besides you always do that when you come home."

I looked at her. The motherly concern on her face touched my soul.

"Mum i moved on, Caleb has too with a beautiful set of twins. I wish him all the best."

"But...."

"But it hurts _ the memory hurst so bad. The betrayal was more than i could handle. Sometimes i wonder how it would have worked out. I feel like he made me."

"Made you?" I could not miss the suprise underlining her tone.

"Yes mum, he played his game well and i was left stranded in the painful aftermath like a fool mum _ i was made."

Mum just looked at me. She had nothing to say. She stretched her arm and pulled me into a side hug then kissed my hair. Silence fell between us.

"I know this doesn't make sense with all you have been through but God is in control. If you ask him He will come through for you in due time." She was right it didn't make sense. I had struggled to stay pure with Caleb. Didn't i deserve a little happiness or maybe a second chance with Kim?

I admired mum's faith. She always trusted on the provision of the Almighty. I had grown up in such faith but when Caleb happened everything shattered. I cut my trips to church.  I could not remember the last time i prayed. I was content grieving believing there was no healing. When i finally met Kim i was not the same person who had been with Caleb but that did not prevent me from falling in love as hard. When Caleb left i felt like a widow. I grieved, grieved and grieved but when Kim left, he left me hollow inside. Nothing was left inside of me. I felt broken beyond repair  All i could do now is was remember and grimace over the pain. He made me too and bitter sweet was the taste.

"You should get some rest." Mum said rising up from the bed then kissing my forehead.

"Goodnight mama."

"Goodnight." I replied.

My sister Alicia enterd with much energy after mum had left. She jumped into the bed and coiled beside me. There was silence in the room for a while.

"You know i remember, right?"

"Remember what?" I asked. I did not comprehend what she was talking about.

"Caleb, the letters he used to give me to bring to you. When he stopped and how everything fell apart afterwards."

Silence followed. I could tell she had been eaves dropping when.  She had been so young back then in kindergarten. I did not expect her to remember.  I must have underestimated her intelligence.  How could i expect her to forget yet she was smart enough not to snitch on me.

"You cried alot. I have never seen you in soo much pain _ not even when cousin Patrick died. I don't want to see you that disraught again."

"I could not hold back my tears. Alicia used the back of her hands to wipe my eyes.

"Don't cry big sis dont cry _ beautiful people don't cry."

I laughed at the back of my head. She used the same phrase i had used on her while she was little.

"Mum and dad were worried about you when it happened. I overheard them saying you changed alot."

I just looked at her and smiled.

Read " Grand. " by the same author ( DORSILA ANYANGO )

. What followed was a shocker.

"My sunday school teacher says that if we turn to God he is able to heal the land so that everything that comes from it is good. Big sis i know you still hurt but if you turn to God He will heal you and lead to the righr person."

Her eyes shone as she said all this. I knew it was not only her talking but had met someone. Someone i had neglected a long time ago. Someone i really didn't know how to go back to.

"I hear you Alicia. Amen."

I tucked her into my cover since she refused to sleep in her own bed. She then requested that i should sing for her which i did. After a while she felt asleep and i followed suit.
