Materialistic but not Heartless

It was 3 days since the TV reporter struck a tune that resonated deeply within Bambi and yet she was unable to shake it off. This past Evenings, she had made it a habit to follow up on the news, hoping to quell her nervousness but not even the usually reliable BROADtv ran any related stories to the suicide incidence. This frustrated her deeply.
Could the foreboding she was experiencing only be a natural feeling of guilt? Was it really just a coincidence that few days after 'eloping' with her husband some random young man would jump from the mile bridge in an attempt to take his life?
That bridge was David's favourite area in the entire metropolis . He loved to jug to and fro the entire length of it any morning he wasn't working.
Worse, she had tried to ring him discreetly by hiding her caller ID multiple times since the incidence but his phone line had been switched off. Left with no better alternative she had put a call through to Gloria to help her ask around or pay David a visit.That was 2days ago. Now,she impatiently awaited her best friends reply.
She may have committed an unthinkable offence against David buts that didn't mean she loved him any less.
She may be Materialistic but not heartless.

Gloria got off the bus the same moment she remembered something. Bambi had asked her to pay a casual visit to David.
Initially she wouldn't do it because she couldn't bring herself to look into the face of a man betrayed so badly by her best friend

. She felt guilt also.
Today, work had brought her to be only few blocks away from where the man lived so she couldn't help but say Hi. After all He might just be in need of some motivation.
The freshly painted apartment seemed rather cold and unwelcoming when she stepped in through the door. She had accompanied Bambi here frequently so she knew He kept a spare key under the Gen House. Her first instincts were to turn around and leave when her knock on his door wasnt answered. But then, what if the Man was sulking inside, wallowing in self pity and grief? What if he was not answering her on purpose? She let herself in.
"Anybody home" she called again while letting her eyes roam round the neatly arranged parlour. Her sight immediately cut hold of a picture placed on top the center table. She walked over and picked it up. It was a picture of a smiling Bambi, her angelic essence revealed in a friendly warmth. Underneath the picture was a letter.
Gloria picked it up to read without any hesitation. Few lines in and the contents of the Letter left her screaming loudly in unbelief.
Author note; I wonder why Bambi is feeling so troubled.
