I sat down in my room looking out through the window, the green surrounding is one view I always enjoy watching from my room.

The cool breeze that follows it seems to know what I need now, big time consolation. A hot liquid dropped on my hands and that was when I realized that I have been crying. Oh No this is not happening, I cleaned my eyes immediately to convince myself that I am strong

I sighed and walked to the mirror looking at the scary image of me; my hair has not been brushed or have I changed clothes since I came back . Hot streams of fresh tears started coming out of my eyes which I cleaned furiously.

The banging on my door made me turn sharply

“Who is that trying to bring down my door” I asked angrily

There is no need of asking, I already know who they are

I heard Mom and Kingzee doing their normal whispering at my door

“Mom allow me to break this door down” I heard Kingzee whisper to mom

“Shusshh, calm down let’s talk to her first, she might be willing to talk this time” Mom whispered back

Their early morning banter at my door is beginning to piss me off but I don’t blame them they are just concerned about me

“Mom, Kingzee, am perfectly fine” and that was my last word to them but I knew as usual that they will stay there as usual hoping I opens the door

“Baby girl come out and talk to us, this is the second week since you came back.

You have locked yourself up there, no eating or drinking just tell Mom what is it and she will solve it for you”

Another cool breeze accompanied my mom’s word made me realize that I need to talk to someone, have really missed those soothing and assuring words

“Okay mah, am coming”

“My baby” Mom shrills
“Just come down okay, breakfast is waiting”

“Wow, the majesty talks” I heard Kingzee muffle before running downstairs, Mom followed him

I turned to my only companion and stared at myself again; Jamila you can do it, just go downstairs and eat with your family. It’s all bygone now, I walked to the window and the environment seems to be smiling back at me

“I have to take my bath, I look like sh-t”

One step to the bathroom and I noticed where I threw my phone in anger

. I picked it up and turned it on, sound of messages coming in with the number of missed calls almost made me to start crying again

“Are they from my supervisor, what exactly will she say” I pushed the thoughts from my mind dropped the phone and entered the bathroom to take my bath.

The water falling on my skin gave me soothing relief, I played and sang under it and for the first time in two weeks I found a reason to smile

“Have I told you that singing is my hubby, I like singing a lot especially when am hurt but now am singing to be happy”

I danced away under the shower and I know we all have had that kind of experience once in a while

My soft ringing tune made me remember I have my family waiting for me, I stepped out lightly from the bathroom, dried my body gently and picked up my Palma cocoa butter lotion which is almost empty and applied it smoothly on my skin. It gave me the soothing relief that I needed.

I took time in brushing my hair and packed it into bun. I changed into a bum short with a pink tank top.

Looking at the mirror, my face looks so pale; I picked up lipstick and applied on my lips to reduce the paleness of my face. Satisfied with my look I stepped out of the room

At the stairs I remembered that I forgot my phone, I went back into my room and collected it. I promised myself to read the messages and reply the calls later

Down the stairs I met eight bright pairs of eyes looking at me, I wanted to run back into my room “How can Mom invite all my siblings without telling me”

“Baby Jam, you don’t have to hide from us. Come join us” our eldest son Marvin said and ushered me to the dining table

I looked at their concerned but happy faces and realized that family is everything

“Come sit beside me”

“No she should come here”

Mom and my elder brother argues where I should sit down

I scuff

“Do these people think that I am still a child?”

Brad our second son noticed my dilemma and came to my rescue

“You all should stop this okay, we are making her uncomfortable. Baby Jam just sit anywhere u feel like okay”

Here he goes again, baby jam everywhere. I am no longer a baby I felt like screaming it into their damn ears

I went and sat down beside Kingzeee who kept quiet since. I know he will be the only emotional person to console me

The breakfast was sweet; I felt peace creeping in again.

Read " Lydia's heart " by the same author ( Celestina Oranye )

. I laughed out loud at my family’s small reunion except that the married ones did not come with their families

Did I tell you that my family is very funny especially when eating, that’s when Mom’s dinning rule is never remembered. Even Mom herself laughs more than everybody else

Marvin is the comedian of the house, he is always happy; I bet his wife never get bored at home. Brad is the quiet one and he can read somebody ehh, sometimes I wonder where he got that character from maybe it’s from our Dad.

Kingzee, well he and Mom are the emotional peepz in the house. They always feel your pain first and can do anything to make you feel better. Never tell them about someone who hurt you if you don’t want a bloody fight. I remember then in my primary school days after break time someone poured water on my school uniform during their fight for water, I tried to reprimand the boy but he feels very high unfortunately for the little boy Kingzee came to give me something in my class and saw what happened he beat the living daylight out of him. Since then nobody in my class plays with me. #lol#

Then last last, me, the humble me; am just there ready to laugh at Marvin’s jokes. I just enjoy all their affection towards me

“So tell me, when are you bringing our inlaw”

I almost choke with the food in my mouth

“You mean me” I asked lamely when I noticed everybody was quiet looking at me

“Yes you” Brad asked wide eyed

“We have been waiting for you to say something about why you have locked yourself inside your room but you said nothing so we decided to ask our own question”

I scuff

“Well none yet about my being inside the room; you all remember about my project writing right”

They all nod expectantly

“Well Mrs. Castle caught me with the husband”
