In The Mess - Episode 1
Jane's POV...
Back at school and I can't face anyone, except Hauwa and books, even some of my lecturers stare at me like a slut,what kind of rumour did Tony actually spread?I wasn't even at fault, I mean......okay, partially I was at fault.Here's the story, my dad Mr Ekpo is a retired army personnel, he's not young and I know he hates his only daughter which is me, my mum left us,and he hasn't succeeded in disowning me yet, DNA speaks. He's filthy rich, and though I hate him too, I need his money.The only problem in that aspect is that he gave up on my education in my level 200, my mum calls me "a big mistake" I couldn't go to her for help either ,she has two grown up sons now that stand like thugs in front of her house whenever I go there
"...Jane I'm talking to you!" Hauwa snap at me, I roll my eyeballs.
"I'm with you Hauwa."
Did you do Prof . Kayii's term paper? She ask, I know she's looking for who to go with to the school cyber,the place would be over crowded .
"I don't want to go to that cyber cafe, students would be all over there,and you know they would mock me!
Really? Hauwa studied me, shook her head and left.
I know she pities me,she's the only room mate I've got, the other two are equally yoked with uselessness, Vivian is a bitch, her side kick, Clara is a fool,and worst was the two were biochem students, in my department, and they are totally brainless,those girls " Iwod mfang" (weightless brain).
Back to the rumour at present, Mr Ekpo, my dad heard a stupid rumour that I'm pregnant, don't even know from what source he heard that from, he called me and gave me a long sermon, not to be like my mum and bla bla bla....the best part was him giving me sixty thousand in cash to abort the baby, he told me, I could meet him in case I got pregnant by mistake.
Well, I took the opportunity, no guy that pesters me goes Scot free, I made sure I introduced him to my dad as the man responsible for the fake pregnancy, it worked, the guy disagrees my dad sends him away and throws a bundle or two at me to get rid of the baby. So l used the same trick and got away with it for 3 good levels

My last level now,first semester and there's strike, that's when Tony strikes, he's Vivian's boyfriend, I know that but Vivian literally takes what's mine, I didn't feel remorse of using the guy, I needed to get sorting fees, I'm brilliant though but in Nigerian universities like mine, some lecturers are stiff neck,either you pay in cash or in kind, no matter your brain.
Dad I'm pregnant!I said bowing my head in what I called embarrassment, my dad stared at me with evil in his eyes, who cares anyways
You've been duping me with this pregnancy stuff, do you think I'm a joke?he asks and I scoff in within
No dad, he's responsible!I said pointing at Tony who stared at me with shock, my dad turned to notice him for the first time, he's a huge man, my dad, tall and muscular and very hairy....
Are you? he bellows at Tony and he trembles, wait, trembled, I thought he was a bad nigga as he called himself.
Y-y-yess-sir! He stammers and I gasp, I knew I was doomed at the very moment ,that was the worst lie ever, it changed everything
Responsible man,you two aregetting married next month, I'll see to that my dad had said. Gosh, I disowned my dad at that moment.
