HAPPY EVER AFTER

It's been two months since I got discharged from the hospital. Greg never asked me any question about what happened and he has been avoiding me ever since. Not like we don't talk or eat together, we still do all those things but I feel he's avoiding me because he doesn't want to know how I feel about what happened. More like he was running away from his past again. 

“Ask him about it, maybe he'll feel more comfortable about you bringing it up than him asking you” Peach had advised me the other day when I went to her house to visit her. 

“So, how am I suppose to ask him?,do you expect me to just walk up to him and ask him,do you love me?” I already said that before I realized the damage I had caused. 

“You think Greg loves you?” She asked looking surprised. 

“I'm not sure, but I think it was a dream . I heard you guys talking and you asked if he liked me but he said he loved me. Maybe it's just an hallucination” I explained

“Maybe it's possible medically, since you were in coma, it could have happened” I looked surprised 

“So, you are using nothing like that happened?, like, you didn't ask him such a question” I pushed the bowl of Vegetable in front of me aside as I awaited her reply. 

“I don't know too, but if you want to know if he loves you, I think Greg is the right person to ask that question, so just talk to him” She looked back to what she was cooking. 

“What should I ask him exactly?” I asked picking the ball again to continue slicing the vegetables. 

“I don't know, I've never been in a relationship not to talk of marriage its your man we are talking about here. Handle him yourself” She shrugged 

“Don't you have any plans of settling down?” I asked 

“Nope, I don't see marriage as a priority

“What If prince charming comes riding a white horse to steal your heart away?” I teased her

“Keep living in your fantasy, The last prince got hooked by Meghan Markle last weekend and moreover, prince charming doesn't exist and even if they do they don't ride horses no more. They ride cars” She sat in front if me analyzing the whole prince charming thing. 

“But on a serious note, what…” she didn't allow me complete the sentence before interrupting me. 

“What soup did you say we were making?”

“You love changing the topic!” I exclaimed in frustrating. 

“Go fix your shit with your husband and stop passing your aggression to my life, I'm just 22. I'm still living. Go home and handle him, it's your love story, let it end with an happy ever after.”

More reason why I'm sitting on the dining room chair waiting for Greg to get back home so we could talk.  After Frederick was put to jail, Natasha had come back to apologize for her mistakes. I knew she wasn't sincere about it but I just let it slide. As long as she was out of my life, I'm fine with anything. 

“How was work?” I greeted immediately he entered. 

“Not bad” he replied while making his way to his room. 

“I want to talk to you about something, if you don't mind. Maybe after you shower” I suggested but he walked up to me, dropped his bag on the table and sat down on one of the dinning chairs facing me. 

“Say it now, I might sleep off after I shower” he explained the reason behind the attitude. 

“I don't know how to start, okay?, did I do something wrong?, I feel you've been avoiding me and you don't want to talk about what happened. Maybe you feel I'll feel bad if we talked about it, but it's been two months and I will really appreciate it if we talk” I explained 

“Where should we start from?,six months back or two months back?” He questioned 

“Prom night, our prom night. Let's start from there” I suggested

“That's a little bit awkward, you know right?” He asked and I nodded before he continued

“Let me start like this, after I found out about you being the fairy then from Pearl…” 

I knew it!, I knew that little witch knew something about this. I muttered under my breath. 

“I felt sad about everything; me running away from everything, shutting everyone out including my parent and friend. Maybe if I tried to not run away back then, you won't be stuck in this marriage with me and you'll be with your husband and live your happily ever after life” I placed my hand on his that was on the table, squeezing it to give him a little assurance. 

“I'm living my happily ever after life with you Greg, you're the best man in my life right now after my dad, I don't care if other guys are out there. But my heart is here with you, you maybe mad, annoying and silly, but honestly speaking, you're cute with it.” We both shared a good laugh at that. 

He stood to and leaned over the table to kiss my forehead deeply and I swear I could feel multiple butterflies down there in my stomach. 

“I love you, Pearl. Thank you so much for everything, I know it's not easy with you to forgive me…” I hushed him by placing my finger on his mouth. 

“God's willing, everything will be easy. Forgiving you and you healing will be easy. I want you to see yourself through my eyes and not your thought and I'll see myself through your eyes.

I looked over to Greg to try to get the reason for the sudden meeting without any warning. My question was announced when I saw Barrister Daniel walk into the house. 

“I'm sorry to come in uninvited, but I remember telling you guys that the next time I'll be here to see your pathetic faces will be in six months time. Let's start the real business of the day!”

Should I say I'm proud to announce that we are finally coming to the end of imperfection?. I don't think so. I love this book too much to let it go but I don't have a choice. I had promised myself to stop with 20 chapters but I think I'm going back on my words now. One more chapter to go!.
