Genesis - Episode 3
For weeks,all Ada could do was mop around like someone who doesn't know her left from her right. She felt guilty sometimes,and angry other times. To conclude her confused feelings,she always ended up thinking 'but it is not my fault'. From then till the end of the year,she was a total mess. And Luke did not help at all. Instead,he always called her out to 'chill',and the amazing part was that she would always go . One time,he said to her; 'the reason I love you is because you are always available'. Pretending was not easy toKo.
A few weeks after their first lay in the hay,he had invited her to go out with him,his girlfriend and two other guys. All through the outing,Ada had to act like nothing was going on with her and Luke,which was not the hardest part. Watching him act all loved up with his girlfriend made her want to die! And she cherished the stolen glances he threw her way when Chacha wasn't watching. 'At least he looked at me',she consoled herself.
That night,it took forever before she fell asleep,what with thinking and crying. She prayed to God for Him to end Luke's relationship with Chacha. Even though it made her feel very selfish,and think that God will not surely grant her request,she still prayed anyway. And when she got tired of praying,she just gave up and chose to make do with the petty attention he paid her when he could

. At least,it was better than being totally ignored. And anytime he was not paying attention,she just sat back and watched as day after day continued with her dear Luke still with Chacha. It was one of those times when he was not looking Ada's way that something totally unexpected came her way.

It was her birthday,and almighty Luke had not called or texted. Ada was busy reading Americanah when her phone vibrated. She picked it up and noticed a text had come in,only for her to read it and see that it was from Emmanuel. Emmanuel was someone she had always known from afar. They attended the same church and he seemed to be the quiet guy with the 'less talk,more action' attitude. He had sent 'hey,Ada. Happy birthday. If there is a party let me know. PS: it's Emma!'. Ada smiled and sent a short reply,thanking him and letting him know there was no party. The next day,he texted again and she replied,and that was how their routine came up.
Few weeks later,he asked her out. Ada was genuinely shocked,because he was always so quiet while with people,she almost did not believe he was really talking about dating her. 'So you can ask a girl out',she said with laughter discernible in her tone. 'Well,I can not say I can,since you have not given me a relating response',he replied. Ada looked at him for a long time,and this made him a little bit uncomfortable,he felt like he had to say something. 'I promise,you won't regret it. You'd have fun...' 'Oh,you want to have fun abi',Ada cut him short. 'Umm,that did not come out right. I meant to say that you will not get bored with me. I promise. I don't even know if I should be talking about boredom right now,all I know is I like you and I want to build something meaningful with you'. Ada smiled. She thought to herself, 'what could possibly go wrong. I could use this guy as a distraction whenever Luke doesn't not notice me,and dump him as soon as Luke comes around'. At last,she said to Emmanuel,'Let me think about it'.
By the end of the year,Luke still was distant,she was pissed about that. But Emmanuel was a consistent man,and at the start of the new year,hearing his voice that early morning right after 12:00 am telling her 'happy new year my dear',and as she listened to the song 'A little more' by Chris Brown repeatedly,she had a change of heart and decided to just plunge into the sea. If she drowned,she hoped to be saved. If she floated,fair enough. But if she swam,then,all will be good.
