Adeola attention was called for by her men.

She had learnt that enemies were coming to seek sanctuary.

She hardly believed this and had to see it for herself.

The campgrounds was completely filled with people.

Could this be a trap set by Adetoye? She didn't know for sure.

"What do you want?"

She asked the strangers.

"Sanctuary. To fight by your side."

One woman responded.

Adeola could still not fall into the trap.

This could be pretence for all she knew.

Her brother was very devious and could go to any length to secure himself as the Victor of the battle Royale.

Her brother's soldiers were not the only ones there.

Nobles and bluebloods were also here seeking refuge.

Adeola was quick to see the ley lines.

They were running from something or someone.

"Tell me the truth and I will consider giving you refuge."

It was more than enough for the refugee's.

They spilled why they were here.

Gbonka approached Adeola and she could tell he wanted to advise her.

"I think we should join forces with them . My princess, remember, divided we fall."

What he said made sense but what came out from Adeola's mouth was,

"If you seek my protection

. You have to earn it."

Gbonka hit his head in anguish.

Adeola examined their facial expressions.

Her one true threat was her slippery brother and this was her chance to know the truth.

"Your wish is our command."

That was what she wanted, Unfailing loyalty.

She had gotten her answer now she had to prove she was the big dog.

"Enough. I was only testing your loyalty. You are all allowed to stay but let me warn you if anyone dares betray me. Well, you won't live to see daybreak."

They all bowed even the royals.

The fear of Aremu had humbled them.

With the realization that Aremu had joined forces with magic.

Illusioms were no small feat to achieve even for a talented witch, Adeola knew it had to be Ajoke's father.

With Ayetoro back together they had to make out a plan to battle the great threat and from the looks of things, it was already at thier doorsteps.

***

Ajoke stifled a yawn.

She had been roused by the burning sun.

She turned to Remi.

He was healed.

The burns were gone and the shield was done, the fiery dome had disappeared. She slipped back into her dress and went out of Remi's tent before he woke.

She had sacrifices her magic and the only thing she held dear, her virginity and it had been enough to save Remi, the gods be praised.

The stretching of bones and the exaggerated yawn informed her that Remi had woken up.

She rushed back in the tent to see him flexing his body, still wearing nothing.

Her cheeks flushed as Remi rushed to cover his dignity.

She was grateful for her dark skin, she felt uneasy.

"Sorry."

She apologized.

"It's alright."

he said.

"what happened?"

Ajoke was relieved he did not remember the night before or much.

"You were almost killed by my father."

She revealed, taking a deep sigh as emotions flooded her.

She could not forgive her father for what he had done.

"Your father, he's alive."

He wasn't aware yet and she knew he would ask more question on what happened perhaps even finding out what she had to sacrifice.

She had made up her mind not to tell him.

"What matters now is that you were saved."

Ajoke said, changing the subject.

"And I'm sure you had something to do with that."

Rem said putting a finger to her chin.

Ajoke smiled still feeling uncomfortable about the last night.

"I'll get your brother."

Speaking of the devil, Daruma rushed in, overwhelmed with joy to see his brother Hale and hearty.

"You did it. He's alright.

. I can't believe this."

Daruma said in a rush.

Ajoke's heart skipped a beat when he almost mentioned her involvement in his healing.

She hoped for her sake that Remi shook it off as nothing.

"I have to go."

Remi said, almost dressed.

He carried his sword and walked out of the tent leaving Daruma and Ajoke inside.

"He just got revived and all he can think off is war."

Daruma shrugged.

He then turned serious and faced Ajoke.

"You haven't told him, have you?"

"I haven't and I might never tell him."

Ajoke revealed.

"But he deserves to know."

Daruma added.

He was right but Ajoke had made up her mind and she had a sturdy resolve.

She would tell him at her own time, she promised.

She then changed the conversation to a lighter note.

"Tell me about you and Adeola."

Daruma let out a shy smile,

"Nothing, we just talk and nothing much."

Ajoke had never seen Daruma like this.

He looked like he was a child that was just given his favorite snack on abundance. She could tell he was stricken.

"And we're cousins you know."

Daruma added.

"You know what they say, what the heart wants."

They must burst into a muffled laugh and Ajoke wished it could always be like this without the war, the murder and quest for power.

Only time could tell.

***

The vision that Gbade revealed angered him.

Ifadoju had ruined one of his plans.

The old man deserved to pay. He took out his anger on the beast of burden carrying him.

The road to the campground that the last of Ayetoro seemed sanctuary was a rough ride.

The rocks and steeped road made matters worse only adding fuel to the already burning rage in Gbade.

He got down from the beast, leaving an illusion of himself riding.

Closing his eyes, he muttered a spell he knew my herat and was teleported to the house of the old dog.

He knew how the house worked and people with evil intention could not be let in but even his powers could defy the god's that gave it to him.

The door shattered as Gbade willed to be and Hbade threaded inside the building. The old man was sitting on a wooden chair, least concerned by his presence.

"The mage."

The old man voiced rasping. Gbade sneered at the old man,

"You ruined my plan."

"No, Eledumare had plans for that young child."

The seer retorted, stroking his small beard and still not intimidated.

"The god's who couldn't protect my wife."

"No, as a guardian to humanity, you were not meant to be married."

"And so they took revenge. Is that the way of the gods?"

Ifadoju paused and refused to answer.

"Maybe chi was right."

"The god's don't deserve to our worship."

Ifadoju stood up to face the mage and spoke, his voice laced with threat,

"And what happened to Chi? He was buried even from history. Do you want that too?"

"The prophesy said something different, didn't it? He will return but I'm not here for that."

"I'm her for you."

Gbade said, walking menacingly to the man. Gbade's eyes watched the flames that licked Ifadoju's house in admiration.

The god's couldn't even protect him.

He could hear the walls of the old seer followed by his silence. He was dead, a threat silenced. He had to leave before he was found out.

***

The camp was thrown in great pandemonium when a legion of soldiers with the banner of a viper held high appeared in view.

Their greatest fear was only a mile from them.

Adeola calmed them down and instructed women and children to stay hidden while the men including her went to battle Aremu.

Remi looked at his father's great coming with both fear and hatred.

If he had the opportunity to slay his father, would he do it? The enemy was fast approaching and it wouldn't be long before they were surronded.

They had to prove their worth.

Remi amongst his legion brothers mounted on horses and charged forward. Metres apart, Adeola, the leader of Ayetoro gave the first warning.

Aremu's soldiers burst into a fit of mockery.

"A woman is Ayetoro's leader."

They sneered.

The words angered Adeola but she kept her cool and stared into the dark eyes of the enemy ranks.

Aremu have a hollow laugh that crept right into her skin.

Even in her grace and newfound powers, she still feared Aremu, considering what he had done to other kingdom's like Aguze, they should all be afraid.

"I say you turn and run like animals I might have a change of heart and give you a quick death."

Their fate was sealed.

The only answer was a barrier and a glorious one.

Aremu raised up his hands commanding his army as they all raised up javelins, ready to throw and hungry for blood.

"CHAARRGE!!!"
