Heart Break
Mufeedat's wail made the DJ to stop the music, those dancing had stopped, even those conversing had stopped. Everyone turned their attention to the already squated Mufeedat, close to her was Maryam, laying on the ground unconsciously.
Aleeyu could not utter any word. He was just standing beside them with his mouth agape, his whole body was soaked with sweat like he just had a bath in a pool with his cloths on, his heart beating so fast and hard, one could see his shirt moving as his heart was beating.

Just the thought of his once happy family made him shed tears. How he wish life can be as normal as it was before. He was still thinking, his gaze fixed on maryam, but his mind wasn't with her at all.
Maryam let out a slight cough, all that happened earlier unfolding in her brain. Did I hear him well? Is what he said true or was he just joking? Ya ilahi! I hope he's just joking. My heart is too young to contain a heart break.
"Alhamdulillah! What happened Maryam? I was just right there when I saw you fall, what did he do to you?" The already crying Mufeedat said. Giving Maryam a tight hug who is still on the lying position.
"Tell me what he did to you, this traitor has to be punished, we can't let him go Scot free, he's just as useless and heartless as we heard his father is, they deserve what happened to them". Mufeedat continued, giving Aleeyu an angry look.
Her words made him stagger back, piercing through every corner of his heart. What his father has done has tarnished his image in the face of his mates, he knows they think of him that way, he knows they say it behind his back, but he never thought they will say it to him. Today, he knows he doesn't have a place among his peers, he knows he is an outcast among them and he will treat himself as one. But before he goes, he has to explain things to Maryam.
"He hasn't done anything to me Mufeedat, and please don't say that about his family again. Here, take my phone and call Ayawa, we have to get going, I don't feel like sleeping in the hostel again." Maryam said out, with pain laced in her tone though she forced out a smile.
Mufeedat helped her to get up, after telling Ayawa to come and pick them, she disconnected the call as soon as she conveyed the message because she knows surely, he'll rant as usual.
"Maryam" Aleeyu called, with his husky yet melodious voice. She just turned around and gave him the 'i don't need your explanation' look.
"Just hear me out I can explain" He continued, she didn't even turn back talk more of listening to whatever excuse he has to say. With Mufeedat helping her, they walked out of the hall.
The hall was silent, but as soon as they left, murmurs could be heard from every angle of the hall, some were even pointing hand at Aleeyu. He had no option than to leave the hall too.
