The curtain of the window was flung open, revealing the elegant darkened bedroom of Maryam; who was still clinched tightly to her blanket feeling the early morning breeze that was finding its way to the room through the already opened window, Ya Allah! She said immediately she gave a glance at the bedside clock, it was 6:50am already, she has missed the subhi prayer again. "Mama na ( as she always addressed her because she bears her mother's name), better get up, perform your ablution and the subhi prayers, it's already getting late, the sun is rising already, don't wait for your dad to come and meet you in bed by this time" Her mom said, jolting her out of the reverie, her thoughts has made her forgot of her mom's existence in the room.

Her subtle cheeks could melt a man's heart immediately seen, if they etched; revealing her perfect pointed dimples. She opened her wardrobe and brought out an expensive green gown that was gifted to her by her dad the last time he travelled to Qatar. She put on a light make up and made to leave her room for the sitting room. She greeted their domestic staff as she ascended down the stairs, and headed straight to the dining room then sat on her usual dining chair after greeting her mom and dad. "You look beautiful like always my little princess" her dad said caressing her soft cheeks. "Dad, am not as little as you address me you know" she gabbled. Her dad let out a slight chuckle as he wondered when his daughter will realise she's still his little princess and will always be. "Let's say our prayers and have the breakfast" mom said breaking the silence.
The latest apple plasma TV was pasted on the wall of Alhaji Aliyu's living room, attached to it was; a DSTV premium decoder, an Xbox and Ps4 video game which alhaji Aliyu play from time to time with his daughter just to catch some fun. Maryam was seated on one of the cushions in the big sitting room operating her iPhone 8+, obviously chatting with it, Her dad was also on one of the other cushions reading a newspaper while her mom was busy preparing lunch in the kitchen with the maids. Maryam was chatting with her best friend and also her classmate mufeedat, about their prom night; which was scheduled in two weeks time. The girls attended el-amin international school Abuja; a boarding school which didn't give them the privilege to always be at home, they were just through with their last exams a week ago. " haven't I warned you never to allow your mom be in the kitchen while you stay away without given a helping hand" Her dad screamed at her when he noticed her mind was completely dedicated to her phone as at that time. "I'm sorry abba, I over heard umma telling the cook that we're taking noodles for lunch today, and so I thought they wouldn't need my help since it's easy to prepare" she replied; her head hung low as she avoided meeting his gaze. He just have her the 'that's not a reason' look, she immediately kept her phone and left for the kitchen for she knew never to joke with her dad when he's serious.
