Damaged - Episode 1
Dark clouds covered the sky, birds flying in their numbers as thunder began to rumble, her children had been shivering since 2pm, her face filled with confusion and sadness she had tried everything but their fever didn't not stop but instead it became worse, tears flow down her eyes has she thought of her husband, her husband who has been dead for four years now, he only left them in a house with tattered roofs which they also owe rent for fifteen months, the only thing he left them is an old bicycle, The cholera outbreak in their neighborhood took her husband from her. The thought of also losing her children scared her, she has been the one taking care of them after the death of her husband, she had spent all of her income from the fruit she was selling on her children's education, "what will I do now" she murmured to herself thinking about how much she owed the pharmacy but she had no choice but to try the pharmacy again, she quickly called her neighbor to help look after the children while she left for the pharmacy at the other side of the town.
She left on her husband old bicycle riding as fast as possible through the bumpy road when the rain started, she was the only one on the deserted road determined to make to the pharmacy with the thoughts of her children sending shivers down her spine, finally she got to the pharmacy, she quickly parked her bike and went in.
"Good evening" she greeted
"Please help me" she said looking tensed
"Hello, How may I be of help" a young man answered
She quickly explained everything to him shaking nervously,The young man offered her a seat telling her to calm down .
"Just give me a minute, I will give you a drug for the fever but you still have to take them to the hospital for check up " he said
He brought out the medicine it had 1000naira stickered to it, she told the man all she has on her is 100naira
"Madam I can't sell for you, you still dey owe me 3350naira" he said while shaking his head in disagreement
"Please sir, I no want make anything happen to them my pikin, I promise to pay" tears flowing down her eyes
" OK OK madam, I go help you, you go have to help me too"
"Anything you want I go do sir" she said with her thoughts on her children
He replied nervously " madam em em, I go like if you fit quench my thirst, make two of u connect and I go clear all your bills " using his fingers as description
She flared up and cursed the man, but he said nothing he just took the drug inside and was about to chase her out, she quickly thought about this with the rain still pouring down heavily and she had nowhere else to run to, so she agreed so they did it at the back of the pharmacy
She rode the bicycle home as fast as her legs could move, when she got home she found out one of her kid was dead, her neighborhood collected the drug from her and give it to the other kid as the noise of her cry filled the whole neighborhood.
