About a mile away from the scene of the operation, their car spoilt and couldn’t move again. They all alighted from the car and made their way through the nearest bush. Flash out of ignorance left his wallet inside the car; it had falling down when bringing out his revolver.

Cyril already confused on what to do. He called on the police; the police arrived ten minutes after his invitation . When they arrived Inspector Yusuf interrogated him and called an ambulance to come and pick Jennifer’s lifeless body. One of the policemen was asked to drive Cyril in his car. On their way Cyril saw the Volvo and alerted the policeman in his car. They alighted from the car and searched the car. Luckily enough they found a daily sun newspaper and a black wallet belonging to flash. The policemen opened the wallet and found three thousand naira, a sachet of Indian hemp, and then Flash’s identity card of Nepoli University. He read it out “Okechuku Aniagu, third year student in Biochemistry Department”. Cyril was happy that the assassins must be found when one of their identities was with him giving serious hope of getting to the killers of his jewel. He gave it second thought why they should leave an identity card in their car; he suspected that it could be a set up for the boy in question, if so it was really a smart one and an implicating one for the owner of the Identity card. He just sighed and entered the car as they zoomed off.

Jennifer’s death was very sad news for Chike and his parents

For Cyril it seemed the whole world had collapsed, he cried uncontrollably the day Jennifer was buried. He would always ask himself “why did Jennifer receive the bullet which was meant for him; he began to suspect that all that behavior which Jennifer had been exhibiting was all because of the incident that took place. He was then convinced that someone planned to kill him but Jennifer never wanted to tell him”. He mourned Jennifer for only two days and sets out to find what killed her. He promised Jennifer that he must fight till he got to the root of her death.

Chike invited Onyeka in brick city eating café where he complained bitterly that he had failed him. Onyeka was even satisfied inwardly and apologized for everything. He told Chike that death is what every person would definitely meet. He continued by saying that the boys shot the gun at Cyril but Jennifer blocked the bullet from getting him. He tipped Chike that it could be the two were really in love.

. He started laughing Chike was very irritated by what he said and gripped him on the neck almost killing him but he was rescued by the people in the café. Chike left the café towards his car and drove home to have some rest.

Cyril, with one policeman assigned to him by the DPO, went to Neboli University to know if they could see the owner of the identity card found in the Volvo car. On reaching the university premises they were welcomed very well by prof. Ayegbunam Okezie, the vice chancellor of Neboli University. He entered the office a year back but was a staff in the campus when Cyril was still a student. He was happy seeing Cyril. They discussed some matters for some minutes before Cyril brought out the I.D card and gave it to him; he at a sight of the ID card accepted knowing the bearer of the card

 He narrated to Cyril of Flash notorious act on campus which he the VC believed he is terror in the campus. He directed them to where they would see him with his gang. Fortunately for Cyril they met flash and his gang in the beer parlor at their arrival. The policeman brought out an identity card and asked him to follow them to the station for his attention was needed in the station to clarify some doubts. He at first refused but Cyril who already knew the tricks told him that he would not even last an hour in the station his friend seeing the seriousness in him asked flash to follow them for nothing was wrong.
