Star Crossed
Nick walked towards Dee giving her a smile that seemed genuinely sweet with just the right touch of shyness that unexpected warmth rushed through her.
"Hey there???" Nick whispered teeth softly biting into his lower lip.
Nick looked down, taking Dee's hand into his as he sat beside her.
"Why are you sad???" Dee asked squeezing his hand. She was finally talking and had saved his life. Were these not enough reasons to celebrate????
Nick was silent. All he did was look at Dee's hand.
"I saved you from the pangs of death, a simple thank you would do." Dee retorted, pulling her hand away.
Dee looked the other way rolling her eyes, she had saved his life for crying out loud but here he was looking like he came from a funeral.
If it were someone else, he would have held a press conference by now but here he is wearing the sad face of the year. Those thoughts trailed in Dee's mind making her rather so mad.
"Dee, what if you got hurt???" Nick sobbed, a single tear sliding down his warm brown eyes.
Dee didn't reply.
"I don't know what I would have done if you died or got seriously injured???" Nick continued another single tear dropped followed by another one, another one and another one.
"Why did you risk taking the bullet for me????" Nick questioned.
Dee was now furious and couldn't control the salty drops falling from her chin , drenching her shirt.
"Dee, why did you do that????Answer me please????" Nick pleaded crying on her hand.
Wasn't it obvious to him that it was the act of love.
"Because I love you Nick. I love you so much." She confessed yelling turning her face towards him. "The thought of you dying made me run as fast as I could. You are my world and it would mean nothing without you. I would rather die than see you hurt." Dee sobbed, cupping his face.
"I love you Nick."
Nick took her into a hug and squeezed her a fraction tighter. Her body melted into Nick's as every muscle lost its tension.
"I love you too Dee," Nick whispered, stroking her hair. These words only made Dee's tears slide uncontrollable.
"Ssshhhh!!!!Its okay my beloved. Your love is here. I was so scared of losing you that I almost went crazy. But I promise I will keep you safe from now on." Nick assured pulling her back.
He wiped the tears off her eyes and they shared their first passionate kiss.
"Can you say once more that you love me???" Dee requested her fingers on her lips.
"I love you!!!I love you!!!I love you!!!" Nick shouted in delight.
"And I love you too."
Dee face was now lit up, his smile was the ray of sunshine and she was the sunburn.
The room was suddenly silent as they got lost into each other's eyes. Dee felt safe in his eyes and he felt like home in hers. They slowly pulled into each other, their foreheads pressed together.
"Thank you Dee for saving my life," Nick whispered caressing her cheeks. His touch was like soothing notes making her feel like ballerina in every dance.
"Anything for you Nick," Dee stammered, the air around her being warm and moist.
"Dee, will you be my girlfriend????" Nick proposed and Dee pulled him by the collar closer ensuring no inch between them and kissed him wildly and passionately.
They both pulled back gasping for air as they laughed sheepishly.
"Dee, let's run away."
