Best Friend - Episode 9

 Kunle whistled as he strolled into the accident ward where Fred would be.

"Hello is that my beautiful Inuk," Kunle  said smiling as he met one of the nurses in the ward.

"Oga you have come with your wahala, better don't come and trouble me this afternoon" Inuk remiled smiling.

Inuk, was always playful with Kunle, there were always at each others neck when they met. You could call them friends, with benefit of course . Kunle would not be just friends with a lady.

"How is your pretty boyfriend? I actually came to say hi to him" Kunle asked.

She smiled coyly, referring to Fred as her boyfriend always sent a delightful spark through her veins. It was open secret that Inuk would give everything just to have Fred that somehow has managed to ignore her for the last two years.

"Well he should be almost done with the ward rounds, why don't you just wait for him in his office".

" Okay, I will do that" Kunle said as he turned to leave.

"By the way, Kunle are you sure he is okay?"

"Yes why do you ask?"

"He has not been himself of late, today is the third time this week his getting a query, either for wrong prescription or something else"

"Wow, its that bad.

" yes o it is, you know he even had a really nasty quarrel with Pharm Banag, for calling his prescription to order and that's so unlike my Fred, he seems so unfocused and distracted....

"Okay I get it", he replied cutting her " don't worry he is fine, its just a little breakup ...." he stopped as he saw Fred approaching. "Inuk I will see you before I leave".He strolled over to meet Fred

The idea that Paris was with another man seemed to be hunting me, i was loosing it, making silly mistakes, drinking more, doing a whole lot more wrong and it was negatively affecting my life, even my job. A call from mum the night before made things feel better, sometimes i wonder how she always called exactly when things were going wrong like she could feel it. I was ready to stop been stupid now and get my act right,mum made sure to let that sink in, I realized I hadn't seen things the way she explained it, I was overreacting over nothing. I was getting my woman back but right now, i badly needed the rest, it has been another rough week.

" Somebody looks like he has not slept for over a year" Kunle said on reaching me.

"Hey man"  I  replied sounding even more exhausted than I  looked.

"I believe you are done for the day, let's get you out of here and relax those nerves" Kunle said as he placed his arm on my shoulders.

"Give me a minute let me take care of something".

Kunle walked back to inuk, with a concerned look.

"Inuk you I know I said Fred had a nasty break up right? I really want to help him deal with it and I think you could help me out with that"...........

I walked back to meet Kunle and Inuk chatting, these two blended so well I once even advised Kunle to try kicking up a stable relationship with her, they were so much of like minds. Besides I really did she will then get off my back.

" Let's go" I said to Kunle as I walked past the two of them.

"You couldn't even wait, what's with you sef?" Kunle said as soon as he caught up with me by the door.

"I don't have the energy to wait for some lovers chitty chat to end"

"I know that's what you will say" Kunle replied, "how about we go for a drink?" He continued deciding not talk much about my jibe.

"Nah am not interested, besides I need to sleep".

" Yes I know, I mean we should go to your house take a bottle of wine and talk, Inuk told me somethings."

"Oh so am the topic of your gossip now"

"Quit been a Sissy and let's go jor".

 Drinking wine with Kunle was the last I remembered.

My head ached, it seemed like sharp pains rhythmically banging the right part of my brain.
 I could hear Paris shouting as she cried, her voice was so loud which made my head ache even more. My vision was blurred and I could barely see her but am sure she did throw something at me as she ran out still crying. I was confused, maybe this was some dream but the burning sensation in my head was to real to doubt. 
My heart skipped as I turned my head, this had got to be a dream, a very bad dream. I refused to believe my eyes as I  turned to see Inuk beside me with her hand holding my beedsheet to her chest.It was then I realized I had no clothes on. How could she be here, in my room?? on my bed??
