VERY SORRY FOR THE DELAY MY EXAMS WAS THE REASON FOR THE DELAY. HAD TO PAUSE EVERY OTHER THING FOR A WHILE.

I casually strolled from visiting the barber shop down the street into the compound that housed the two bedroom flat I rented, the compound housed two other flats with neighbors I rarely met thanks to our gruesome schedules. The aroma that hit my nose on opening my door was the most welcoming thing I could expect, I did not need a prophet to tell me my baby was around, doing her kitchen magic since she had a key of her own. "My p where are you?" I called onreaching the kitchen and not finding her "babe am back and this your soup is oh my goodness...." I added on opening the boiling pot of eguisi. She was no where, bedrooms checked, toilet, back yard,everywhere. Kind of strange I thought, I put off the burner and relaxed in the parlour couch fiddling with my phone when I heard a loud bang, sharply followed by a scream from Paris, I dashed towards the bedroom, in the direction of the sound, Paris was there lying on the floor beside the bed shaking, "Babe what's wrong please talk to me" i asked a little confused, instinctively checking for her heart beat and then her pulse.....

She cut the drama and burst out laughing, I slowly realized I had just been pranked, she laughed so hard you could see tear drops "April fool" she managed to say between laughs. "Oh my God for Christ sake don't ever do something like that again" I blurted out with relief, "you almost killed me, gosh, if anything ever happens to you I will be dammed and you know it", "awwn that's so sweet" she said as she walked to me, wrapping her hands around my neck "did i scare my baby boy,am sorry if I scared you it was just fun" she added coyly, whatever embarrassment I felt quickly melted away as she tenderly kissed my lips" I have missed you" she added "I missed you more but you know you didn't get me right? I just had to play along so it won't look like your plan failed" "oh you wish I got you, I got you, I totally got you" she argued excitedly "fine you did, just remember there will be another April 1st" "yea yea yea but this one is mine"she replied as we walked to the parlour

"so how is that beautiful mother in-law of mine" I changed the topic "oh she is fine, I had to run and leave her with her troubles" "what trouble can a beauty like her possibly cause?" "she has been asking me of a wedding date, grand child this grand child that ....." "......and that's the trouble! you are not serious please let the woman be and about that date I think I have the perfect date, have been thinking about it with my mum, just need your consent now, 18th September is the date, what do you think?" I asked looking to her reaction, "That's like 5 months from now, oh my!! wait thats on my birthday!! goodness I love that" she gave me a big hug, "I think you should go and check that soup that should be burnt by now" "not true i know you too well I can bet a million dollars that you turned off the heat"she said as she walked to the kitchen I just could not tear my eyes from her

"Baby I did invite Tunde to join us for dinner" I did hear her say from the kitchen, you are not saying anything she added after a while with no reply "what the hell am I supposed to say, you invited him already am I suppose to now say no?" I replied with a bit of anger in my voice, she had to ruin a perfect weekend I thought.

The food was delicious as expected but not enjoyed as my eyes would move from Paris to Tunde and from Tunde to Paris, I could not help but notice how they chatted and laughed as we ate they looked more like the couple and I the guest. Tunde didn't seem gay today,I thought, all that gay attitude just vanished.

Clearing my throat I interrupted their conversation "so Tunde how is your modeling thing going?" " Great, going well". "So umm how exactly did you guys meet?" Paris knew where this was going as she turned to look at me, her eyes saying "Fred can you stop this" i looked back at her and she knew there was no stopping me now, somehow we could effectively converse with our eyes. "Well umm we have been friends a long time i suppose she told you that already" he said smiling slyly like he could also tell where this was heading but not ready to back down, "we did secondary schooling together" turning to Paris "you remember how we would sneak out of school just to get ice cream?" Paris laughed awkwardly, "sure how can I ever forget that?" turning back to me he said delibrately slow "you know those were really good times just two of us in the world with no cares, right Paris" "yeah" she knoded slowly making sure her eyes didn't meet mine, the tension in the room increased by the second, "from there we did go to the same university together" he continued, "wait you mean the same university I met and fell in love with her? How come we never met, we were pretty close so I should have met you" "yes same university, I had been admitted to study medicine" he stressed the medicine like it had extra meaning, and then my admission to a fashion school in South Africa clicked and unlike others who are in medicine for the job security I dared to follow my passion, it was hard decision but thanks to Paris it was easier, she helped me face my parents fury.

"So where do you base now" I asked trying to Chang the whole Paris talk "in the US but am relocating back to Nigeria I want to be closer to family and friends", "oh really? I see, so when exactly did u discover you were gay? and i do hope you know homosexuals are not welcomed here in Nigeria" Paris almost choked with the water she was drinking I didn't mind as I slowly washed my hand ....
