"So, i hear you're the one that has been warming my son's bed." Aanu, Demi's Mom inquired of Anjola coming fully into the office, she dropped her bag with a thud on the board table facing a terrified Anjola.

"Good day ma'am, Dem..i mean Mr Demi is not on seat, i could call him for you.."

"spare me the dramatics young lady, do i look like i am here to play? Do well to know your place, i don't need your permission going into my son's office, i know he's not on seat, and that's why I'm here to see you and you will answer my question." Aanu said, banging the table with her palm

"I'm sorry ma, its not what you think, we started dating a week ago, i promise you we're doing nothing that would jeopardize him as a person." Anjola pleaded

Demi's Mom flung a newspaper before Anjola, "You're doing nothing wrong? Did I just hear you say that? Who are you? I've got my son's life mapped out,how can a worm such as yourself try to wiggle your way into his life?"

Anjola stared at the headline:Wedding Bells?? she recognized the picture, they'd been at the mall over the weekend, and Demi had proposed. she had been dumbfounded...

"Ma i agree with you, same thing i told Demi, he should concentrate on the progress of the company first, I didn't think it was wise to let our relationship come between the upcoming projects we have before us, he needs to concentrate more

. And that's why i told him to slow down."

Demi's mom stared at Anjola's left finger "You did? Well that's good to know, the last thing i need right now is bringing out my claws, i love my son, but i believe things should be done at the right time..." she scanned Anjola from head to toe, her gaze resting on her shoes..

"Is that a Louboutin?" She inquired

Anjola smiled "Yes ma, it is." she brought a jug of juice to the table, ushering her to a seat.

Demi's mom watched her from the rim of her cup, "I see...who are your parents? Do you live in this town?" she asked making herself comfortable.

Anjola sat beside her, "I stay with my Mom, my father passed on some years back, we've been here for awhile now."

Mrs Aanu dropped her glass looking at Anjola, "I'm sorry for your loss, you're such a beautiful lady, and my Demi tells me you're very talented too, an asset, i must say. You shouldn't be staying in this town, there are many opportunities out there for ladies with Beauty and Brain such as yourself.."

Anjola smiled, "I know ma, but for some reason Mom doesn't want me to leave this town, she insists that this town is good enough for us."

"But that's unfair? Don't tell me you've been in this town all your life?"

Anjola stared at her hands, "well... sometimes like twice or thrice a year, we usually visit the Ikoyi Vault."

"Ikoyi Vault?" Aanu asked

"Yes ma, that's where my father was buried ma."

Mrs Aanu kept staring, "sorry what's your name again?"

Anjola smiled, "it's Anjola ma..Anjola co... " Anjola was cut mid sentence as the door to her office swung open, Mrs Wonu entered,

"Anjola since you've decided to prove stubborn I'm here to do the right thing for you, where is your boss? I'm resigning right this..." she stopped, noticing Aanu, Demi's mom.

Demi's mom stood up in a rush, looking from Anjola to mrs Wonu, "You gotta be kidding me, wait o, Anjola is this your mom?" she inquired

Anjola nodded "Yes ma, that's my mom." Anjola said already packing her bag and boxes to evacuate her office, she didn't want Mom to make a scene.

"No wonder..i felt that instant bond and likeness, she's boda Oju's daughter right?" Aanu asked glaring at mrs Wonu.

Anjola looked from one to the other, finally settling on Aanu, "You knew my Dad?" she asked

"Baby girl, i more than knew him, he was like a brother to me.. We were really close until your mother came into the picture and threw the family asunder." Aanu said spitefully.

Before Anjola could ask any other questions, a shocked mrs Wonu pulled Aanu at the wrist, she turned back to face Anjola, "Young lady i'm not joking, resign today, and meet me at home." Mrs wonu concluded dragging Aanu behind her out the door.

"Ow ow ow, you are hurting me!!" Aanu whimpered

Mrs Wonu kept dragging her until they got to a secluded cafe outside the company,

Aanu rubbed her arm, and before she knew it, she received two hot slaps from mrs Wonu.

Aanu held on to her cheeks already boiling like a volcano that was about to erupt,

"How dare you." she screamed on the top of her lungs, "Do you know who i am? I'm only being quite because of the respect i've got for boda oju, don't push me." Aanu warned.

Mrs Wonu shook her head, "Don't you dare spread such lies to my daughter again,i never caused any discord that wasn't already in his family."

Aanu laughed wickedly, "Believe whatever you may, but you're the cause of everything, if you hadn't been in his life, he wouldn't have come to such drastic end, you killed him Wonu...you!!"

Wonu raised her hand ready to strike the second time,

"Don't you dare, touch me!! You think running away from home will absolve your sins?? no it won't, karma is coming, you better be ready." Aanu spat angrily

"Was that why your husband stole my husband's company? putting it all in your name?? And what about the thirty two million US dollars my husband took to his office the morning he died? Help me ask your husband, because you're talking about karma let me enlighten you my dear, it's greedy people such as yourselves that karma deals with."

"Oh, you're really messing with the wrong person this time, everything my husband has today was worked for, by sweat and hardworking, you didn't value what you had and that was why you lost the company, carry out your threats but it's not going to work on us.... My advice for you is to take care of yourself and that daughter of yours while you still can, Don't be surprised if she finds out about herself sooner than later." Aanu said laughing bitterly

"Leave my daughter out of this Aanu, i am warning you." a panicked Mrs Wonu countered

"Nah..i don't think so, after all you started the threats first, ohh..poor Aunty mi.. Anyways it's such a pity that you don't want us to be a part of your family, but this time around, fate has taken it out of our hands, my Demi is engaged to your daughter so, deal with it." Aanu said, walking away

"What do you mean." Mrs Wonu asked

Aanu smiled, "oh you didn't know??? Ask your daughter, i am sure she'd be glad to tell you about it. She's engaged to Demi my son, the son of the man you're accusing to be a thief."

Mrs Wonu felt faint, "Demi is your son?"

"Oh you must have met him!! good,he's My Son..My Son!! Let's wait and see what you'd forget they get married." Aanu concluded smiling victoriously as she left a bewildered Wonu.

Mrs wonu spat on the floor also going her own way, "Over my dead body." she said "wait till i see that girl." she muttered under her breath.
