"I came as soon as i could." Demi said looking around the new flat, his mother was lounging on a chair looking quite bothered, this house had been his birthday gift to her two years ago.

"What's up Mom?" Demi prompted

Aanu sighed looking her son in the face, "son, how about we go stay in the states for a while? Aunt Ibidun misses you, let's call it some sort of vacation. I've  got it planned out!! What do you think?" Aanu said, trying to sound cheerful

Demi was well familiar with this method his mom was using, she did it every time she was trying to keep him away from harm, but he was confused seeing the company had not being on attack by anyone for a while now,

"Mom? why would you want us to do that? there's so much to do at work, i can't just up and leave now can i?"

Aanu sighed, "I just wish we could, i miss my family." Aanu said, pulling at the ruffles on the throw pillow

Demi came over taking her hands in his, "Is there something you're not telling me? we're your family too remember, tell me what has been troubling you, i hear you've been here for awhile too. . Mom what is happening, did you have a fight with Dad?"

Aanu snorted, "So you've been having me tailed, no one knew I'd been staying here, I've been quite discreet."

"I've got my ways mom, i bought this house for you remember? and dad called me earlier saying he couldn't get across to you, whats happening mom? you're getting him worried." Demi said

Aanu stood, pacing the living room, she sighed deeply and poured out her heart to Demi, telling him the sordid details of how his father had stolen from Anjola's parents and how she was suspecting that wole had killed his friend.

"Does Anjola's mom know all this?" Demi inquired, loosening his tie, he was starting to feel choked.

Aanu nodded

Demi sighed deeply, "I wonder if she already told Anjola, if she did then our relationship is as good as dead, afterall dad caused all that happened to her father."

Aanu came over to her son, "She's a good girl, i am sure she'd understand."

Demi laughed bitterly, "would you? under such circumstances." Demi asked

"She's strong son, she's not like me..i relied on your father for twenty eight years, Anjola doesn't seem to me like that sort of woman, she'd do well on her own." Aanu assured

"I know mom, what do we do now?" Demi inquired

"I'm divorcing your father.

. " Aanu said rubbing her bare arms

Demi stood up towering over his mother, "mom..you can't do that, you mean the world to father, you know how important you are to him right, you'd collapse his world."

"His world is pretty much collapsing from where i stand, he should be grateful divorce is what im giving him, im actually doing him this favor, if he truly loves me like he proclaims then he'd do the right thing..

Demi snorted, "You're doing him a favor by divorcing him? mom you might as well be stabbing him in the back, what happened to your wedding vows? how can he do the right thing when his loving wife is not there to stand by him?"

"Don't you talk to me that way Demilade, you don't know half of what your father is capable of doing, i was always a good wife to your father he couldn't ever find fault in me, i kept my wedding vows Demilade, but then i would never turn a blind eye to his wrongdoings!! Anjola's father was like a brother to me, i loved him like one, imagine my shock finding out my husband stole from him the morning he died. My conscience can't let me rest until your father does the right thing." Aanu said crying out

"Mom i understand, but we've only got ourselves now, we should stand together as a family let's help him do the right thing." Demi pleaded

Aanu smiled weakly, "He started this, don't get involved in your father's mess Demilade,it could ruin your chances with Anjola..believe me i know firsthand what your father can do." Aanu implored

"I can't do that mom, he is the only father i've got, i will stand by him whatever it takes, and if i loose Anjola because of that, then too bad..." Demi concluded, trying hard to ignore the stab of hurt in his chest.

Aanu came over to hug her soon giving him a bear hug and crying silent tears, "Oh Demi, i wish things didn't turn out this way..forgive your mother for birthing you to such evil hearted man, i'd have done better but fate played a smart one on me." Aanu wailed

"No matter what, i still love and respect  the both of you as my parents, don't cry mom." Demi consoled, masking his own hurt.

If you showed people your weakness, that weakness could one day mock you, Dad had told him one day. Demi smiled bitterly, Dad couldn't have been more right, mom was his one weakness and see where that had led him.

His weakness was about to draft him divorce papers Demi thought, staring at the legal papers lying on a nearby stool.

What now? Demi wondered
