Anjola - Episode 14

 

Anjola entered into the house tentatively,she was about knocking at her mom's bedroom door when the door opened wide in her face,Anjola moistened her dry lips as she adjusted the straps of her bag, 

"Good evening m.."

"Don't you think there's something you've got to tell me Anjola?" Mrs Wonu inquired, standing with her hands folded beneath her bosom.

"I have resigned like you requested." said an unsure Anjola 

Mrs Wonu nodded her head, "Good. Anyways i want you to break up your relationship with Demi, and before you say anything i want you to know i already know who his parents are, they're not good people and i can't allow my daughter to have any relationship with them."

Anjola dropped her bag on the floor, "But that's crazy mom, i already resigned like you wanted me to,why must i break up with someone i love so much,for Christ sakes Mom, what else do you want from me?"

"Don't you dare use that tone on me, you will do as i say young woman, do you know how much we've suffered because of those people? Anjola i know its hard but please do this for me, just this last request, choose any other man, just not Demi." Mrs Wonu pleaded

"why aren't you putting my feelings into consideration, even if what you say is true, you also know first hand that Demi is not like his parents, he's a good man . Mom please..."

"I know you're stubborn just like your father, i warned him but he wouldn't listen, and see what happened to him at the end, i won't make such mistakes the second time, you must break up with that boy and that is final." Mrs Wonu said, as she went back into her room closing the door behind her. 

Anjola headed to the kitchen and made a quick sandwich, she was hungry, she sat at the dinning removing her blazer and bit into the sandwich staring into space, she remembered that mom had looked taken aback when she had seen Demi's mom earlier in her office, to her they looked like long sworn enemies,but why? she really wished she had someone to talk to, she brought out her phone from her blazer and dialed her aunt's number. 

"Hello Anjola, how are you?" Bimpe inquired

Anjola smiled, her aunt's voice sounded better today, "I should be asking that auntie mi, but then you sound better."

Bimpe frowned at her end, "Is something wrong Anjola? you don't sound happy, is it that boy? did he hurt you? i swear i'd break his bones if he did."

Typical Aunt to sense she wasn't in high spirits, "It's not Demi Auntie mi, it's mom she has been acting strange,she made me resign from my job, and she wants me to break up with Demi!!!" Anjola cried

"Anjola mi don't cry, i knew it would come to this, she had always hated those people, but she shouldn't make you give up your love because of that

Anjola sniffed, "No don't, she doesn't know you're in lagos remember? i don't want her to get mad at you again because of me."

"I know baby girl, if you ever need a shoulder to lean on, i am here." Bimpe whispered 

Anjola nodded, "I know..thanks Auntie mi, for everything..."

"Anything for you baby girl, take care of yourself." Bimpe assured 

"Alright i will."

The line disconnected 

Anjola sighed, she toyed with her phone for a while, wondering if she could break up with someone that loved her as much as she loved him, she'd just hurt the both of them If she did. She dropped the half eaten sandwich in a ziplock bag and picked up her belongings heading for her room. She showered and climbed into bed, how had her once perfect life turned out this way? Anjola wondered..

Her phone rang, unknown caller. 

"Am i on to Anjola Cole?" a deep masculine voice inquired

"sorry, who is this?" Anjola asked warily

"Wole Olaotan speaking, CEO Aanu Holdings."

Anjola sat up in a flash, Demi's Dad? what could he be calling her for?

"Oh,good evening sir, i am Anjola Cole."

Wole chuckled, "of course i know who you are, all the same, i hear my son has got a soft spot for you, i must say I'm curious and want to know the young lady that has got such hold on my son. i would be visiting the ijon branch of Aanu Holdings on saturday, would you have breakfast with me at De Royale cafe on saturday?"

Anjola blushed, had Demi talked about her to his father? "De Royale cafe i know there sir, it's not far from where i stay, would love to have breakfast with you sir."

"Good, be there by nine, Good day miss Cole." Wole concluded

"You too sir, bye." Anjola released a breath, whew Demi's father sounded so intimidating, how would she cope seeing him on saturday? She would prepare secretly, telling mumcy that he had asked to see her was a no-no, she googled the name Wole Olaotan.

This was going to be a long night but she didn't mind at all.
