The Twist - Episode 13

 

Jake polished the last of the wine glasses and arranged them in a neat line on the counter.

The time was 11am.

He arrived late as usual and his manager had been on his neck for the past 30 minutes.

Ruby his girlfriend had spent the night with him and he woke up late to discovered she had left without waking him up.

She had been calling him on phone during the scolding to tell him she had reached her destination but he wasn't in the mood to pick the call.

His boss who heard the complaint from the manager the last time had threatened to sack him if he chooses to be a constant late comer.

What will become of him if the manager launch another report to his boss? He will surely get the boot.

He slept badly last night after a solid love making with Ruby. The thought of working for Amaka had kept him awake and totally disturbed . Why would such a successful lady with so much influence pick on him? Maybe she was one of those sugar mummies he often heard of and she looks it.

Big and robust, fair, extremely beautiful with a lot of money to throw around.

Well, he had earned 75,000 naira from her since that first day she came into the restaurant.

If she wants to be screwed, he will do that with all pleasure.

Ruby who had been his girlfriend close to a year now was a sweet kid.

She had been helping him in her own little way but that does not make her his decision maker.

She will do the same if she happens to be in his place.

Anyway, even if she gets to know about this he can always wave some dough in her face.

Money has a big influence on Ruby but she isn't stingy either.

She shared almost everything with him.

He was sure she won't object if she notices they are making money from the ladies.

She will understand.

These ladies are begging to be screwed and they are willing to pay a lot for it.

He will be out of his senses not to grab such an opportunity.

At least he can make enough money to get him on the track, look for a decent job and marry Ruby if possible.

Yea, that is what he will do.

The owner of the restaurant stormed in and Jake jumped on his feet.

"Good morning ma"

"Morning Jake, I hope you are not late today?"

Jake could not find a suitable word to defend himself.

"It seems you are incompetent of handling this job. You were on your knees begging for this job when you came here, I gave you my rules and regulations but its obvious you can't even keep them."

The owner keep on ranting.

Jake stood there with his head bowed.

If they sack him now it will be a very good opportunity for him to work for Amaka.

At least he will use this as an excuse if Ruby complained.

The owner threw more abusive words at Jake and stormed inside the kitchen with her groceries.

Jake sighed and sat behind the counter.

Then almost immediately the roaring sound of a high powered super car arrived outside the restaurant and Jake quickly recognised it as Amaka's Rolls Royce coupé. 

A few minutes later she entered with her friend Stella and smiled at him.

Jake felt a little shy and grinned sheepishly.

"How are you Jake?"

Asked Amaka with a smile as they settled down comfortably on the chair.

"I am fine."

Replied Jake.

He observed Amaka looked more happier when talking to him.

He went to them to pick their orders.

Stella spent a reasonable time staring at the menu.

She later made a mouth watering order of a simple sea food laced with cream And hamburgers.

Amaka requested a bottle of her favourite champagne and Jake raced off to bring their orders.

These ladies can eat! Jake mused.

He watched both of them from the door panel as they conversed in low tones and smiled at intervals.

He served them the wine and moved back to his post.

After a few minutes the chef called him to come and carry the meal.

Stella stared at the heap of tantalizing Cat fish surrounded with cream sauce and rolls of meat-stuffed burger.

She pounced on the meal and began to wolf down the sliced fish and hamburger at the same time.

Amaka ate leisurely.

"Jake I have surprise for you"

said Amaka after a brief pause.

She extended a brown envelope to him.

Jake hesitated, then walked up to them, took the envelope and thank her.

"Open it."

Amaka said.

Jake opened the envelope with shaky hands.

He was nervous.

He peered at the content of the envelope and saw a car key with papers.

He poured the contents out on the table rapidly.

"These are the documents of your new apartment and the papers of your new car. I have rented a 2 bedroom bungalow for you and the car is there."

Explained Amaka.

Jake felt weak.

He suddenly sat near Amaka and held her hands. A car and a house! This is too much for him.

"I am so grateful. I don't know how to thank you, seriously. I'm speechless. Just tell me what I will do and I will do it immediately!"

Jake said and suddenly regretted it. What if she ask him to murder someone?

"Its alright. Just be ready to pack into your new house before weekend"

Amaka said and drank her wine.

Jake thank her and promised to pack in as soon as possible.

A couple of hours later he watched them leave and went to clear the table.

Lying on the table was a note from Stella.

"MEET ME AT RENDEZVOUS LOUNGE TONIGHT. 9pm....Stella"

Jake stared at the note and became confused. What exactly is happening...?
