"where the hell have you been since Friday?"

chief gavin fired.

"my friend has been ill in the Hospital and its my duty to look after him"

Felix replied.

"didn't i tell you that Martina will be coming back from Germany in few days time? Didn't i told you that she will be coming here as soon as she returns? Don't you know that we ought to throw a welcome party for her? Infact young man, you are not permitted to spend late hours outside this house howmuch more sleeping else where!"

Chief Gavin yelled and then walk away into his room. That's his way of life . After shouting in the sitting room, he heads straight to his bed Room to cool him self with few glasses of whisky. Felix was still holding his chin as if it will fall off if he takes his hand down. His sister walked up to him and took those hands down.

"dad is always annoying" she blurted.

"yea"

he said complacently. His mind was still meditating on his father's last statement. How was he to cope with that type of rule when he knew he now have mercy under his care. Old men and their freaking rules. He just asked God for grace to abide with it.

"how have you been, hope no one looked for your trouble?"

he smiled at his little sister

. No matter how sad or angry he is, he can never fail to acknowledge the presence of his sister.

"i am fine but some one looked for my trouble."

she replied.

"who the heck is that?"

he inquired curiously.

"its no other person than you"

"me?"

he asked to make sure if she was mistaking.

"yes you. You made me miss you"

she replied.

"i thought you now have a boy friend. Why are you missing me?"

he asked in a whisper.

"hmm, that sounds jealously"

she remarked. he walked toward the stair while she followed behind. "jealously?"

"yes"

"hmm, but it wasn't meant to sound like that. But tell me, who wouldn't? Don't you know you are more than a sister to me. you are also my girl friend "

he joked and she laughed aloud. Now, they are at the door of his room. He inserted a key into the hole on the door and twisted it open and then they sauntered in.

"bro Felix, you are funny" she stated when she was done laughing.

"i don't think i am funny. But then tell me, what's up with you and your lover?"

he inquired as he dropped his keys on the table .

"i haven't seen him since after that Thursday night but he calls and sends me packs of a million text messages."

she replied. "wow, that's nice. Are you not missing his face?"

"of course i am. I was hoping we did go out on Saturday's night so i would tag him along but you didn't come home." "i am sorry for that.. i guess you love him so much"

"yes. I don't need to pretend"

she replied with full assurance. Every part of her body speaks and beckons for him.

"that's so good but you ought to be careful so you won't end up being a victim."

he cautioned as he removed his shoe. "okay. But bro, where have you been?" she inquired

"i've been with a friend" he replied sharply.

"who?"

she asked curiously. with that, he paused and started glaring into her eyes.

"Mira, hope i can trust you to keep secrets?"

he asked with anxiety. "your question describes your mind. So bro , you don't trust me?"

she asked disappointedly.

"its not that i don't trust you but rather i am trying to let you know that what am about to say is a secret. And it should be left between you and i so as to maitain confidality"

he specified.

"okay. Trust me. I assure you of the safety of your secret. so what's the secret all about?"

she demanded.

"i hit a very beautiful girl with my car and she broke he right leg"

he answered.

"Jesus! Thank God she isn't dead" she exclaimed "how is she now?" she asked further.

"by the grace of God, she is getting better now" he replied. "thanks be to God. Its a miracle. But how about her family? Are they pestering?" "no" he simply replied. He hadn't the strength to start telling her about her family and misfortunes.however, she said to him jestfully with humorous smiles.

"but bro, i am suspecting you o, this one you added very beautiful to her description. Its unlike you.

at this statement, Felix smiled broadly. That's his sister for him. She has a way of reading his heart in a funny way. As soon as he tried telling her something, his phone began to ring. He checked the caller and it was Hugo the guard he left to watch over Mercy. He accepted the call immediately to be abreast of the time

"Hello Hugo, how's things over there?"

he asked

"boss, every thing is fine, its just that Your lady insisted i should call you to know how you are"

Hugo at the other end of the call replied. His statement got him grinning. He was very happy. At least she thinks of him. That's enough to make him forget about his problem.
