Summayah got to school the next day and explained the whole matter to Az.

“Az,” Summayah shakes hand with her. “How was your day? I have to discuss a matter which is really bothering me. 

“I am fine. What is the matter?” She asks concerned.

Summayah walks to class and sits down . “Jamiu's mother came to our house yesterday. She told my parents that she wants me to get married to her son in a month's time and that is immediately he finishes his waec. “

“Isn't that too early to do? Is Jamiu even aware of this?”

Summayab sighs, “To be honest, I don't even know.”

“That is what I am telling you. Are you going to get married to a stranger because the person you are afraid of or can't talk to is a stranger? You can never know what he likes and what he doesn't.” Az says.

“What should I do?” Summayah asks Az.

“Well, I think you should go to him and start talking because I want the best for you. You don't know the meaning of marriage. If you know the meaning you won't be behaving like this.” Az states.

“Ok, I have heard.”

“It is your choice because I have advised you enough. “ 

Summayah asks, “Don't you think people would start to believe that it is true I was the one seducing?”

“Leave the people that are saying rubbish, since you yourself know your true intention

“It is not up to that. I will go.”

Summayah stayed outside for something and didn't go to her class. She was still standing when jamiu came out, surprised to see her there. 

“Summayah why are you here.” He asks.

Summayah surprised and looks up. She shakes her head indicating nothing.

Jamiu continues, “Are you sure? If there is nothing that is why are you in front of my class.”

Summayah talks in a low tone, “I just want to apologize for what I said the last time. “

“Are you sure?”

“Yes. I want you to forgive me.” She mumbles looking down at the floor.

“I have already forgiven you, okay,” he smiles.

Summayah nods, “Ok. I will like to leave now. Bye.”

“Hmm, wait. Have you eaten because I know you have been standing for a long time. “

Summayah turns around, “No, have not.”

“Okay, lets go and eat them.”

Summayah doesn't feel comfortable. “Don't worry I have bought what I want to eat for breakfast.”

“If you don't eat together with me, I won't forgive you for that.”

Summayah chuckles, “Haa. You won't forgive me for that?”

“Yes, I won't.”

“Ok, lets go.”

Jamiu and Summayah went to the cafeteria. Jamiu observed that Summayah was not feeling comfortable with him. He saw the shyness in her, her voice and her hand were shaking, so he decided to take her to a quiet place after he had bought them meat-pie and drinks.

Jamiu moves closer to the person selling. “Please give me two meat pie and 2 drinks.”

“‘This is it,” the man handed Jamiu the pies which he collects and pays. He went back to meet Summayah where she was standing.

Jamiu looks at her, “Summayah take this.”

“Thank you,” she thanked him, accepting the item in his hand.

“I know you are not comfortable being around me and just because of the rumors that are going to the school recently, it made it more difficult and worst for you to be around me.”

Summayah looks at him, “Hmm, that's true.”

“Then let's go to a quiet place if you don't feel comfortable.”

“Okay, let's go.”

They went to the back of the school and sat on the floor under the coconut tree and started discussing matters concerning themselves. 

“So how are you? How is everything?”

“I am fine,” she replies still looking down.

“Do you have a phone? Can you give me your phone number.”

“Yes, I have a phone.” She gets out a piece of paper and scribbles the numbers on it, giving it to him afterward.

“Thank you.” Jamiu folds the paper.

“Do you have any other girlfriend apart from Jennifer?”

“Yes. She is a little bit short. She has a fair complexion and has dimples. Oh, she also uses hijab too.” He describes the girl.

“Then why don't you get married to her then?”

“Because I don't know how to express my feelings for her.”

“Then I can help you,” Summayah offers.

“You can only help me by saying yes.”

“As in what? I don't understand.” Se asks clueless.

“Like I am trying to tell you to say yes.”

“Say yes to what?” She asks.

“Say yes to my proposal to you,” Jamiu says.

The school bell suddenly rings. Summayah ran away and left Jamiu under the tree.

Jamiu happily said, “Yes, my wish has finally come true. At least I have her number right now.”

Summayah still smiling, “Wow, now that went smooth.”

She sighted Az coming. “Az, come let me gist you.”

“How did it go?” Az inquires.

“It was great. When we got there he was telling me about his girlfriend. “

Az surprised says, “What! He has another girlfriend apart from Jennifer. That guy is a womanizer.”

“No, it's not like that. I was the one he was talking about as in,” Summayah whispers in her ear, “Girlfriend.”

“Ok, I got it. What happened next? What reply did you give him?”

“Hmmm. I ran away. I don't know what to say.”

“I can see my best friend is already in love,” Az laughs.

Summayah mutters “Just shut your mouth. I am just scared that's all. I am not in love with him.”

“You are just lying and you're blushing too.” She sticks her tongue out.

“Just wait when I catch you.”

“You can't!” Az begins to run.

Summayah runs after her, knowing Az was a fast runner and couldn't catch her at all. “Az, wait I am not catching you again. You win,” she says panting.

Az stops, you see you cant even win me when running.

“All right. Let's go to the library to read since we have free periods.”
