I'm really sorry for the late update

RECAP

He hisses. “She weighs a lot”, he grumbled.

“A lot of weights for a tiny tall thing like you”.

He passed through the doors. It’s as if no one noticed the kidnapping.

JEREMY’S POV

I brewed the coffee and served her a cup of it.

“Thanks”, Doyin says and collects the tea cup from me. She sips.

“No milk or sugar?” She asked . I’m just going to leave that question unanswered. Her eyes got a bit wider as she sips more.

“Bliss! My head feels as it was mauled over by a truck. What happened?”

“What do you remember?” I ask her.

“I drank wine, then…” she started. “Ah!” she exclaimed. “That man with hideous beard drugged me”. She panics. I collect the cup of almost finished coffee from her and placed it on the kitchen counter. No more accidents.

I am fuming with anger inside. I’m just trying to control myself. I let out a breathe I never realized I was holding and calmly asked, “What do you need a blind date for?”

“I am single”, she answered as if that explains it all.

“Who brought me home? I don’t feel anything than a headache. Did he do anything to me?” she asked.

“He wasn’t able to”, I tell her.

She lets out a breathe relieved before asking me, “How?”

I start explaining to her, “We should thank God, that the blind date agency has some rules that served as security measures

. You are not allowed to take you date home, until the third date. They monitored him and stopped him at the gate. He’s prison right now explaining”.

“How were you able to find me?” she asked.

“The agency dialed the last number you called, mine”, I answer her.

“Thank God”, she blurted out. “He could be a pervert, in fact he is. Or worst a ritualist”, she added.

I look at her. “Do you know what could have happened if they didn’t take those precautions?” It seems as if she didn’t care what happens to her.

“Something bad, I know”, she replied.

“Something bad”, I repeated. It seems she does not know what I went through with the thoughts of ‘what ifs’. “No more blind dates!” I ordered her.

“I am not a fool, but who are you to order me around?”

“I am………………..” I don’t want this to come out the wrong way. Rather than talking, I drew her close to me and hugged her tight.

“Don’t you ever do something like that!” I tell her. “Don’t you ever”, I say again with a softer voice. I don’t know what her reaction will be if I tell her I love her.

DOYIN’S POV

I’m shocked. This is Jeremy hugging me. I mean Jeremy. The hug makes be feel loved, makes me feel like I matter to him.

He releases me. I look down a bit shy.

The 30 seconds silence was deafening. It seemed like a hour silence.

“I”- We both say at the same time.

“You first”, we say together again.

A pause.

I talk. “I won’t go for blind dates anymore. Curse my luck with men. I never meet the good sort. You were saying?”

He looks at me like someone gathering courage for a debate, he starts talking, “I know it’s kinda too early to say this. I planned to take it slowly, but senorita I think I’ve got let it out before it’s too late”. Then he dropped the big bomb, “I love you”.

Now I’m more shocked. “I……I”, I stuttered. I sincerely don’t know what to say. I fantasize a lot, but I never ever imagined this. He loves me?

Seeing my expression he says, “You don’t have to say anything yet. It feels good to say it”.

And it feels to good to heart it, I thought. Despite it being just a month, I do love him. Wait! I love him?

He continues talking, “I would love us to go out together, like exclusively”.

“Girlfriend- boyfriend?” I asked. A woman has to play hard to get, even if she is officially off the shelf.

“I think we are too old for that. Something more serious, but no pressure. I’m just saying”.

I am really doing a happy dance inside me. Still, I have to take precautions. “I will think about it and pray about it”. I am too old to be making mistakes with men.

He gives me a beautiful smile, and then kisses my fore head. My eyes widen.

“I’ve got to go. I have work to do”.

“Work?” I inquired. I thought he works in Italy.

He gives me that smile again. If he keeps up with that I might just say the big L word.

“I am building branches of my restaurants in the Nigeria. Since, I have a reason to stay here, I’ve got to make a living and prove my love to you”.

“Oh!” I say. I didn’t know this. Although, I know other things like he’s caring. I remember when he cleaned my wound the day I injured myself while dicing carrots. I also know he’s a good listener. I also……… He interrupts my thoughts with a chuckle.

“I have a feeling that ‘oh’ is your favourite word”.

“Oh!” I say again. I mentally hit myself.

“Bye love”, he bades me fare well.

~Cheesy. Isn’t it? I still think it beats Dinaji confession to Kaiya.

Hope I have not lost you guys? Do check out A bride for the dumji prince, if you haven’t. Not really interesting, but I will leave it to you.

Chika’s POV

“Chika, you’ve got to be patient with daddy. Be patient and prayerful. Pray God touches his heart”, my elder sister, Chidinma advises me.

I bared my soul to her. “Daddy’s heart is like that of Pharoah. He has refused to let me go”.

“Be patient”, she preaches to me again.

“I have heard you, but if I get pregnant out of wedlock now……..”

She interrupts me, “Pregnant ke? Are you pregnant?”

“I am not”, I assured her. “How would I be? Samuel is even more religious than myself”.

“He’s a good man. I just don’t see any reason why he can’t turn catholic”, My sister says.

I start defending my fiancée. “Not you too.

. You know he was born into a Pentecostal family. Should he change all his beliefs for me?”

I continued at her silence. “I would never do that to him. He wouldn’t do that to me also. He has loved me for who I am and I love him just the way he is. Pentecostal and all.”

My sister sigh. “You and daddy are two strong willed people”. Her phone rings. “It’s daddy” she said and picks it up at the second ring.

“Hello! Papa. Yes, really! We are coming!”.

“What?” I ask not getting anything from the one sided phone conversation. Her expression tells me something big as happened.

“Mummy is awake!”
