She Wants Revenge - Episode 1

 

The Moon sat up in the sky graciously brightening the earth below. The weather was annoying cold but it didn't affect Eva as she walked through the bushy path constantly looking behind her for fear of being followed. Finally she got to her destination and she fell on her knees carefully placing the small bundle she carried on the ground.

"I'm very sorry my child" she sobbed tears slipping down her face "but I've to do this" she croaked "i can't face the shame of having you out of wedlock, my parents already disowned me" she touched the child's cheek . Instantly the child began to cry startled she kissed the child on the head, knocked on the door and ran away.

Immediately the door opened and a man came out "who's is there" his wife asked from inside the room.

"no one Katie, but whosoever knocked left a child at our doorstep" he replied in a whispered shock

 "We can't keep the child Stephen" she complained slowly pacing around the small room with the already sleeping child in her arms.

"Katherine!" he called in alarm "we can't possibly leave the child in a dump" he stammered "you're a mother!" he cried in alarm.

"Stephen have you taught of how we're going to care for this girl . We can hardly feed, paying the house the house rent is tough and Jason unpaid school fee is a whole different matter entirely" she turned her back to him and gently kept the child on the bed.

"Katie" he called sweetly

"Steve, please don't try get all sweet on me" she snapped "how are we going to care for her if we keep her and the neighbors" she pointed out the window "what are they going to say?"

"Is that what you're worried about? The neighbors?" she kept quiet and didn't look at him and he Smiled "Katie?" he walked close to her and slipped his hands around her waist placing his head on her shoulder "what if I said I'll fulfill your wish of living in the city  if we keep that cute little baby girl" he nodded in the sleeping child's direction.

"Really?" She turned to face him, his arm till around her waist

"i can see it in your eyes Katherine you Want to this child as much I do" he whispered in her ear.

She sighed "I'm just worried what of if her really mom comes back?'

"we'll be gone by then love, so far away and untraceable

"You don't have to be, I'm taking this girl as a sign but for the time being until we leave you won't bring her out to prevent our nosy neighbors from talking"

"And Jason our son, what are we going to tell him about her?"

"when we get to the bridge we'll cross it" he said smiling at her." so we can keep her right? "he asked his eye brow raised.

"do I have a choice. I've already falling in love with her "

"OK, so what name should we give to her?"

"I've always wanted to give my daughter Guinevere" she replied her voice hoarse

"she is ours now and I love that name" he kissed her cheek.

"welcome to our family Guinevere Vera Bradley" she muttered silently.

The sun was gradually waking up when Eva slowly crept into the house 

"thank God you're finally backback" a woman she hadn't noticed in room said her relief showing in her voice. 

Eva placed her hands on her chest and sighed in relief "t's just you Lulu, you scared me" she said sitting on a nearby wooden stool. 

"where have you been Eva for the past three days I've been so worried that you do something so unreasonable to the child and yourself"she inspected her body"  and where is your daughter "she inquired when she did see the child. 

"I gave her away, she is better off with them than with me" she answered nonchalantly 

"what?" Lulu gasped in surprise 

Eva stood up from the stool and began to move around the room packing her clothes into a polythene bag. 

"what are you doing?" Lulu asked 

"I'm leaving I need to get my life back on track"

"But you don't need to leave we get figure it out we'll get your daughter back. I help you fix your life" she watched helplessly as Eva stood in front of her, her bag in her hand "i can't change your mind?" she asked when she saw the look of determination on her face. 

"no" she replied holding Lulu's hand "thanks for everything I'll never forget you" she hugged her and quietly left the way she came. 

"may God see you through my child" Lulu whispered her voice choked with tears.
