Kane.

Guilt eats me up inside and I know it's because of the part I played in almost sending a man to his death

I slowly stroke Anadia's head and I wonder what I would have done if that bullet hand actually hurt her..

I shake the thoughts from my head, it isn't something I should be thinking about at 3 in the morning.

My phone buzzes with a message and it's Cash asking how things are.

I specifically asked them not to leave the house or come to the hospital, no need to alert whatever motherfucker is doing to where anadia is.

The less people who know the better.

I punch a quick text to him on the state of things before deciding to go get some coffee.

My eyes slide to Maurice and Linda sharing his hospital bed and I know even though his eyes are closed he's very much alert.

I place a kiss on Anadia's head before exiting.

A nod at the guards at the door before striding down the hallway.

I try not to think about anything else as I get in an elevator just as someone exits, the person looks familiar but I can't recall from where. 

He throws a smile at me as the doors closes and I frown as the elevator begins its decent. 

I try to recall who the person but no name is forthcoming, I frown as the door opens and I exit. 

It hits me then, that that man is the husband of Anadia's friend, Juliet. 

F*ck. 

I hit the call button for the elevator as I think, something is very wrong, while visiting hours are over and there is no way he got through reception... There's also no way he's supposed to know where Ani is.

Anadia.

"Who are you? "

That question being asked from outside the door brings my head up and I frown, looking around, where's Kane? 

Grunts ensues and the sound of someone falling makes me sit up, something that sound eerily like the sound of a silenced gun makes the hair on my body raise. 

Silence follows immediately. 

"Anadia, I need you to go into the bathroom and hide, go with Linda" Maurice whispers and I realize that something is wrong 

"what's happening?" Linda's sleepy voice asks but before Maurice can answer the door opens. 

"Brett?" I ask, "Why are you here?" I ask again. 

He smiles before turning to look the door and my blood runs cold when the butt of a gun peeks from under his shirt. 

He turns back to me and smiles again. 

"Brett...?" 

"You are a hard woman to pin down Anadia.." He says, like I've stressed him alot. 

He looks disheveled, out of it. 

I finally realize. 

"It's you..." I whisper. 

"Ding.. Ding.. Ding..." He says, giving a low laugh. 

"Why?" I ask, confusion coloring my voice, I vaguely notice Maurice getting off the bed and it isn't just me who notices too. 

"it will be wise for you to stay still man, I've got a gun and I promise not to miss this time" 

"Oh my God Brett, you are the stalker!" I shout, anger coloring my voice. 

He turns to me. 

"Stalker?! Stalker! Me! We are in love Anadia, me and you.. Isn't that why you befriended Juliet.. I know you don't really like my wife but that can be handled" 

Disbelief runs through me. 

"You can't be serious..." I say.. 

"Oh I am, just as soon as we get rid of that demon spawn inside of you" He says, a gun suddenly appearing in his hand. 

The situation finally gets to me and ice cold fear saturates my body. 

"Don't do this Brett..." I say,... Where is Kane...! 

"Put down the gun!" Maurice says and Brett swings it towards him. 

Oh God no.

"Brett.. This way.. Look at me" I say, thinking fast, making sure his eyes comes to me. 

A noise at the door interrupts me just as Kane screams my name. 

"Tell that bastard to get away before I change my mind and kill all of you.." Brett says, his eyes on the door. 

"I'm okay Kane! Go away" 

"Anadia!" 

"Tell him to go away!"Brett screams, looking agitated.. Linda whimpers. 

"Kane... Please leave" 

"Anadia!" 

"Fuck!"  Brett screams and suddenly a shot goes off, he looks crazed, Linda screams and I see Maurice on the ground,blood leaking from his side. 

"Look! Look! Look what you've made me do.. I. Was.. I. Wasn't going too... Oh fuck it!" He screams. 

"Brett.. Please.. I thought,...

. You love me don't you... You Are Scaring me" I. Say, trying not to sound scared while at the same time being scared shitless. 

"Anadia... Maurice.. Maurice.. He's bleeding bad..." Linda sobs and Brett looks confused. 

"I.. I. Just wanted you to come with me, I'm tired of waiting, we are meant to be, you and me.." He says and I nod, praying against all odds that the sudden pain in my abdomen isn't what I think. It is. 

"Get up.. Get up.. We are leaving.." 

How he expects to leave is beyond me, noises ensues from outside the room and I know backup is there. 

Another bout of pain crosses my body and the sheets beneath me grows wet. 

I think I'm about to have a baby.
