Roses & Thorns - Episode 3
Spectulations were rising, lips were moving, girls and guys gossiping, James' world was upside down.
"Why would anyone want James dead?"
This question was frequently students of Leadersville High, it floated like a bird in the air, no one actually providing real answers to them.
"I don't know man, I'm still worried about this."
"I still don't believe I was there and couldn't see anything. I feel so stupid."
"Probably they feel you know something."
"That's bullsh*t!" For the first time in weeks, James had said something.....And this one came out loud in anger.
"It's a miracle you survived, the overdose would have killed you." It was Mark, on of James' besties.
"You should be happy,"
"Happy?" James felt infuriated . "I was lucky, so if they strike again, how lucky again would i be?"
Everyone remained silent, Mark, Stephanie and Edna. He was mad, but at what? At who?
There were a lot of questions that needed answers, and fast.
"James," It was Edna's sweet voice. She got up, walked over to him and took his palm, stroking it gently.
"It's alright, you don't have to get angry."
"Yeah man, we're all here for you." Mark added getting up and patting James' at the back.
For the first time in a long time, a really long time, he felt loved again.
"Who's hungry?" It was the jovial Stephanie, who grinned most of the time.
"What I'm starving!" She grasped her flat tummy

. She was the glutton of the clique, yes she wasn't fat or robust.
"Yeah, I guess I'm a little hungry too." Mark said stuffing his hard cover books into his bag.
"Let's go then," Edna said, letting go of James' hand slowly.
"Aren't you coming?" Stephanie asked James whose mind seemed to be elsewhere.
"Yeah uh, I'll be there in ten,"
He knew he wasn't hungry, He had a lot on his mind. Food was probably the last.
Lately,he was worried about his own life; his younger brother who he hadn't seen in days, his egocentric mother and of course, the beautiful Edna.
The fact that some people wanted him dead still ran cold shivers down his spine.
"Why?" He asked himself continually. It was a hard nut he had to crack.
It was the beginning of a new scool year, his final year in high school and this wasn't a good way to start it.
