It had been three months since she'd had to bury her mom in that makeshift grave it had taken her weeks to dig inside their shanty. She'd made sure it was deep enough not to allow the stench get out once the body started to rot. The mare memory of it kept her awake most nights. She'd run out of the little her mom had given her two weeks ago and now she was starving. She'd woken up before dawn to join the teaming masses of slum dwellers going into town to find work . She knew she had to do something or there were a lot of people around who'd love nothing more than to take advantage of a helpless young girl with no family or ties. She'd seen it happen enough times to know she didn't want it happening to her.

Earlier that morning, downtown Nairobi...

"Get it done fast before I lose my patience!" Amin was woken up by the shouts of his father. He'd been on enough runs to know the jewelry stores were just a front for the real family business and that his father had a temper that had low tolerance, he never suffered fools.

He woke up and stretched, he was hungry.

. Ever since his mother was killed by soldiers in their home town over a year ago, his father had never left him behind. Admittedly, Kenya was a far cry from Syria. It was greener too. He went to the bathroom, took a long warm shower and threw on a t-shirt and jeans. The yelling had long subsided. But, he knew better than to think that ment his father had been pacified.

His father stormed into the room and slammed the door, "Sorry to wake you. Let's go get breakfast," he told him in a softer voice. The legendary General Idrisi had a soft spot for his son he never let anyone else see. Amin nodded and grabbed his jacket. He'd slept before dinner so was looking forward to a heavy breakfast.
