"I'll file them, just go have lunch" I told Jide who only raised an eyebrow

"I can handle it, Jadesola. Don't worry" he took the files I had managed to sort for over three hours and arranged them into the file cabinet.

"So you won't have lunch?" I shook my head before going back to the laptop, to reply Michael's email's.

"Well I'm going to get something to chop, do you want anything?" I shook my head, trying to concentrate but if I was being honest, hunger wouldn't let me concentrate.

"Ice cream and jam doughnut it is" he said with finality and I looked at him.

"Thank you" I whispered gratefully and he smirked.

My knees quivered and pure oestrogen rushed to my brain. He was quite handsome, he was sporting a light beard and that dark blue suit only enhanced his muscles.

"Or do you want to come along?" He tilted his head to the left with a smile and I shook my head.

"Nah, ice cream and jam doughnut is fine" he nodded before glancing at me one more time, his right hand shoved into his pocket as he opened the door with his left hand and walking out.

'You know what they say about men who are left handed!' I thought to myself before my eyes widened at what I was thinking.

"Shut up, Jadesola! You're a married woman and your husband is on the other side of the door" I muttered to myself.

'Yeah..probably f*cking Esther' I thought again before exhaling.

"Shut up, Jade" I muttered before going back to the email's.

An hour later, I had finished sending Micheal the mails that needed his attention, I replied all email's and my stomach was growling like never before.

On cue, Jide opened the door with two Mr . Biggs bags in his hands and I sighed.

"I thought I was going to die!" I groaned as he placed the bags on the table and chuckled

"Traffic was bad" he plopped unto the couch and grabbed a bag from the table.

"Thanks"

"Anything for a girl as beautiful as you" I gave him a weird look, hoping he didn't notice that I was blushing.

"I'm trying too hard?" He chuckled and I smiled.

"Something like that" he hummed and pulled a doughnut out of the bag and I did the same.

"Since you're done for today...maybe we could talk?" I raised an eyebrow

"I'm not trying to flirt! I swear!" He held his hands up in surrender

"I'm not blind, you're taken...sadly" he pointed at the ring that sat on my finger.

"Okay then, what would you like to talk about?" I bit into the doughnut and moaned as the jam spilled into my mouth.

I opened my eyes and turned to Jide who was staring at me intently.

"That was intense" he muttered and I rolled my eyes before taking a bite again.

"Just tell me about you" he said and took a bite from his doughnut

"Okay, Um...I'm Jadesola Olumide, I'm twenty f-"

"Chill..

. Olumide?" He had a puzzled look in his eyes before his eyes widened

"Oh so it is you!"

"Me that did what?" I frowned at him. The account department girls had probably started gossiping again.

"I thought it was that girl I saw in his offi-"my lips rounded in realization as he stopped mid sentence.

"Well..now you know I'm the 'Wife' "

"Wow" he muttered

"Continue" he urged me and I swallowed the food in my mouth before speaking

"Okay so I'm twenty four, I studied cosmetology and um...that's pretty much it" I shrugged and he looked at me for a while.

"You're beautiful, Jade. I know it's weird because its the first time I'm meeting you but I'm not one to hide how I feel." I narrowed my eyebrows at him

"You have a lot of potential but you're scared....you're too scared. Leave your comfort zone and be happy. You're just twenty four and you're too scared to live?" He leaned back in the chair

"Live for the moment" he said and took a bite of his doughnut, winking at me. I smiled a little before going back to my lunch, thinking about what he said.

Till we closed from work, not one of us said a word.

Not even a goodnight.

I walked to the garage and sat in the back of the pitch black range rover with tinted windows. Michael sat beside me, smelling awfully of Esther's perfume but I couldn't care less.

. I could only think about what Jide said, he was right. I was too young for this.

Too young to be married to a heartless twenty nine year old man who treats me like a slave.

Too young to dream of having six children just because I'm lonely.

Too young to work like I'm an old secretary.

Too young to worry about the anger of my husband.

"-least you can get some work done" his cold voice reached my ears and I looked up at him as the car moved.

"How old am I?" I questioned him and he looked down at me. I believe the saying that the most beautiful faces have the ugliest hearts.

"What's with the stupid question?" He was just as emotionless as every other day and I hated it. I wanted him to yell, hiss! I wanted anything but this empty shell of a man.

I used to think we could be friends, even if we didn't love each other.
I was stupid, I know but I was desperate.

"Why did you marry me?" His beautiful eyes burned my skin

"I want a divorce" I told him and I could almost see remorse in those eyes.

"I can't give you that, Jade"

"Stop calling me that! My name is Jadesola!" I screamed at him and the waterworks began, my eyes didn't move and neither did his.

"I want my own room" I told him and his eyes followed the trail of years that dropped before he looked up at me.

"I told you, Jade. You can do whatever you want. Pick any room out of the five empty rooms, date whoever you want, f*ck whoever you want, sleep wherever you want...it's not my business. The only thing I cannot give you is a divorce" he looked away, adjusting his tie and then looked back at me.

The car came to a bumpy stop and the staring match didn't stop till I looked away three minutes later. I opened the door and I stepped out of the car, wiping my tears as I walked into the large house.

I climbed the stairs, making up my mind to pick the room on the far end of the hallways, farthest away from him.
I walked to the room in question and pushed the door open.
Dust welcomed me but everything else was in place. I threw my bag to the beanbag in the corner and started dusting the room, I laid the bed and sighed.

"How the hell did I end up here?" I muttered, sitting on the bed. I unbuttoned my shirt, leaving me in a black singlet and my skirt.

I walked to Michael's room and took my clothes out of the closet we shared. It was quite the walk, I had to go back and forth to get my clothes, shoes, bags, wigs, accessories and toiletries.

"Go make dinner, Jade" he muttered, walking around the room in his ugly white pyjamas as I was carrying my last batch of wigs.

"Go cook it by yourself and I've told you, my name is Jadesola! Ah!" I groaned and walked out of his room, slamming the door shut as  I walked down the hallway.
