“! Kim! Hurry up or you’ll be late for the meeting,” my mother yelled from downstairs family room. I could hear her rustling around looking for the keys.
I groaned. I wasn’t ready for this. I felt a huge overflow of anxiety as I kept checking myself in the mirror. The reflection was unreal. I played with the curls in my long black hair . “Would he like this? Maybe I should put it up?” I thought.
I quickly changed into the evening dress that my mom and I went countless hours of shopping for. It was a light pink Halter Neck dress. It dropped to just a few inches over my knees and made me look a bit taller. I smiled and rushed downstairs holding the white heels my mother has given me for my twentieth birthday.
“It wasn’t just a meeting, it’s a date. A new future,” I thought. “No more countless waiting. This is something that will help me start anew. I hope he likes me!”
My mother and I rushed to the limo where my father was waiting
“You look beautiful,” He smiled joyfully when I entered the limo.
“Thanks,” I nervously laughed.
“Don’t be too nervous; I’m sure they will like you. He’s a fine young man, top of the school I heard.” My mother said as she got in on the other side

. My father and mother started talking about how great my soon-to-be-husband was like and how it will bring profit to my father’s company. I muted them out.
This was an arranged marriage. In order to increase my father’s profits, he decided to create a bond with another rich company. I objected at first because I was waiting for him. But over the first year, I finally woke up. I mean, after all, I was waiting on a boy who may never return to my life. A boy who was my fathers enemy son. The very boy who had kidnapped me, got me into a car accident and almost lost my life from me going into his past issues. Yet I still loved him and waited.
I also gave into the many gifts given to me by the man my father insisted I should marry – Keith. I’ve seen pictures of him on the magazines and I have to agree – he is quite handsome. But I still missed…
I shook my head furiously. “I have to forget about him!” I yelled. I then noticed that I had said that out loud.
“Forget who honey?” my mother asked.
“Um…” I trailed off. I also have to get rid of blurting things out loud.
“Jake!” I exclaimed. “He apparently has a date today and I’m worried that it might not go well!” I lied. It was partially true. He is going somewhere to meet an old friend but he specified it was a guy – which shocked me because I never knew he had guy friends.
“Oh I see. Well keep it off your mind. You don’t want Keith to think you have other boys in mind,” My mother laughed. Right… other boys.

We arrived at a Chinese restaurant called The Red Dragon. It was filled with many customers of various cultures. But no matter how you look at it, it seemed like all the Asian workers stood out of the crowd. They all wore bright red Chinese outfits with gold embroidery surrounding the entire shirt and bottom. A worker noticed us and motioned us through the crowd. By the time we got inside the restaurant, I was struck with the smell of soy sauce and lemon chicken. My stomach growled. A giant dragon statue was hung on the ceiling by the entrance. It was surrounded by a lot of red and gold embroidery and stood out amongst the red carpet.
The worker led us to a separate room compared to where the general customers were served. The moment the doors opened, my eyes were stunned by a bright light that faded slowly, showing two figures waiting at the table. An elderly man sat on the left, without a hint of a smile on his face. He was dressed in a gray suit, and had short black hair with some gray strands sticking out. I didn’t notice anything else about him because my eyes were drawn to the second person at the table.
Keith sat, gazing at me affectionately with his chestnut brown eyes. His hair was short and spiked up, the same color as his eyes. He wore a black suit which fit him perfectly. He looked very handsome. He stood up, keeping eye contact with me, and then walked briskly towards me.
“It’s so nice to meet you, Kim,” he smiled as he took my hand and kissed it. “You look beautiful.”
I blushed, but couldn’t look away. His eyes pulled me in, looking so vibrant with the light reflecting off of them. “T-thank you, you look v-very nice, too.” I replied. His smile grew even bigger as he kept hold of my hand and lead me to the table his father sat at.
“Take a seat,” Keith pulled out a chair beside his and gestured for me to do as he said. With a smile, I sat next to him.
Our families then ordered some food. Which I was very surprised to how Keith wanted the same food as me as he chose our of the menu.
” Do you want any thing, Kim?” He smiled as he placed his arm around my neck holding me close to his chest. He put the menu in front of us to show me the servings.
“U-um no, you ordered everything that I wanted,” I responded along with a nervous laugh . I felt so red. His body warmth was going onto one side of me and his breath was so close that I felt it go down my neck. I looked up and managed to see his face more in detail. Especially his eyes. I stared at them for a while until he turned to my direction. I froze and looked away blushing.
“It seems our parents are too busy talking about business and the company finances than paying attention to the actual best thing that could happen in their lives,” Keith whispered giving a small chuckle. I looked at my parents and his. He was right. My father had papers lying on the table and pointed to them constantly and was making no eye contact whatsoever with my mother or myself. My mother then made eye contact with me then she smiled. She looked so happy for me.
Keith and I were so absorbed in conversation that we hadn’t noticed the food set on the table. We talked about our favourite sports, our embarassing moments, our sad moments, music and life. I felt so happy.
“Its had been so long since I had been on a date,” I smiled. “I’m having so much fun.”
“Me too,” Keith glanced over at our family who were still talking but also eating. Its as if they were In-laws already.
He got up and took my hand. He then looked back at our parents. ” Mrs. Song, I’m going to take Kim for some sight seeing around this area, this place is getting stuffy and it seems as if father and are very busy in their work.”
“Sure go ahead.”
I looked back at Keith and my mother. He actually managed to get my mother to agree and give no curfew? Wow I’m impressed.
He then whispered in my ear. “It doesn’t have to end just yet, I’m tired of siting here and hear our parents talk about business. How about going on a real date? My style?”
I blushed. Leaving my parents behind and running off with a boy I just met today? Sounds fun.
“Alright!”

We stopped by a nearby clothing store. Walking around in formal attire was something we both didn’t want. Keith grabbed for his wallet and pulled out a gold credit card. It was shiny and it looked like it was barely used.
“This card is all my savings of the many places I had worked,” He explained. “I want to spend it on us. After all, I don’t intend to stay in this tuxedo all day.”
“What bout your daddy’s money he provides you? You don’t use that instead of your own money?” I asked. I was impressed. I never thought Keith would be the working type and using his money on us. It seemed like he was the perfect dream guy.
“Just because our parents set us up together doesn’t mean I have to drown you with their money. I find it rude to do that to a girl in my opinion. I want to treat you like a girlfriend, a future wife in my way not theirs.” he chuckled as he tapped the card around his fingers. I blushed. He was so bluntly honest as well. Something, Nathan would never do. I shook my head. I wasn’t suppose to be thinking about him. Its already been three years. There’s no way hes coming back.
There was a flicker in Keith’s eyes as if he saw through me and read my emotions. He then smiled and grabbed me by the arm. He took me to the woman’s section where it showed a variety of cute to fashionable clothing.
“Wow! So adorable!” I grabbed the beige skirt that had to big black buttons at the front. Around the rim had ruffles. Plain and simple just the way I liked it.
“Mmm that would look very cute with this,” He picked up a pink V neck shirt. It was about my size and at the back was cut very low with strings at the top creating a X at the back. “Pink would really match with your.. paleness,” He held in his laughter as if he wasn’t trying to insult how pale I was.
“Since when do you know about fashion? And yes I know I’m pale, I got out a lot but I never get fully tanned.” I grabbed the shirt that he was holding.
“I use to work at a fashion show,”
“What was your job?”
“I rather not say…”
“What a janitor?”
“Nope, Underwear Model,” He said in a sarcastic tone but I wasn’t able to tell if he was telling the full truth about it or just joking around. I tried to hold in my laughter but then Keith posed in a very awkward way making the customers stare. I laughed.
“Your smile is very beautiful when you laugh,” He smiled. His smile was breathtaking as always. No matter how many times he smiled it still stunned me.
“T-Thanks,” I blushed. Why must he always compliment me?

After several trips to the change room I finally got an outfit. The top that Keith had chosen for me along with a new black jacket over it. I bought some light blue jeans and the skirt. Since it was winter, wearing skirts was pretty a bad idea. I was about to put it back on the rack but Keith seemed to object to it and bought it for me anyways.
“You know how spoiled I feel,” I said in a cute complaining tone. He seemed to laugh.
“The man is suppose to spend a lot for the girl on the first date,”
“Well then on the second date I’ll pay for whatever you want,”
“Your an odd girl,”
“Thanks,” I said sarcastically. I then spotted a Claw Machine in a nearby arcade as we walked down the street. Keith caught my glance at the arcade.
“Lets go! I bet I can beat you everything in there,” he bragged.
“You wanna bet?” I laughed as we rushed in holding hands. I felt small pain in my chest. I knew what it was. I had done this before. With Nathan. I pushed it away.

“I can’t believe it… You beat me!” He exclaimed. “No one has ever beat me in DDR, Air Hockey and Rock band!”
I laughed. I felt happy. The tired expression on his face. He took off his plaid purple shirt and was in his long baggy black jeans and white shirt. I dabbed his face and brushed the hair that was in his eyes. He didn’t seem to mind. I noticed how close we were and I felt the urge to just go closer. This is real, its finally over… countless waiting is finally coming to an end… Goodbye Nathan .
I leaned in and kissed him. The kiss was better than I thought it would be. He hugged his warm hands around my waist tugging me in closer to his hot sweaty body. I didn’t mind as much. The kiss felt so passionate and sincere. His lips were soft and the smell of him was so alluring. I felt as if I could almost loose my balance if he let me go right there.
That’s when suddenly I wanted this dream to continue. I didn’t want it to turn into a nightmare, but it did. The same icy cold voice called from behind me. My name. Fear went down my spine. As well as tears that rolled down my cheek. I was scared to turn around. I parted lips from Keith and turned slowly.
Seeing the similar jade green eyes I had once loved and waited for now haunted me with hatred and hurt. He had gotten more taller, more broader and his hair.. was blonde which made his eyes stand out more. Those hurtful eyes. Why did it hurt me so much? Was it because those eyes saw me kissing another man? I had hope not. Tears rolled down my cheeks.
“You…I waited for you for three years… my life was finally coming back together… why did you have to come back…Nathan,”
