So thank you all for following this story. It really means a lot. I hope you enjoy this episode. Oh, just an addition there is a bit of a steamy moment.

******

I looked around again, the kitchen was a wreck. The cupboard hanging by a nail, broken plates lingering on the floor, blood splattered close to the door and on some debris. Parish was on the floor close to my feet and Derick had a stoic expression on his face.

Well done pawns
Death's voice echoed in the silence and for a second, I welcomed his presence.

I looked at the bodies, trying to ignore Death and the part of me that wanted to bask in his praises and this horror . To my surprise the bodies began to disintegrate and blow away, leaving only a handful of a grainy substance to prove their existence. Must be how the police didn't find me before.

How could I have forgotten about the bodies? I guess you forget what isn't needed. A smirk played on my lips.

I can see you are enjoying yourselves. Death laughed and I suddenly regretted the way I acted.

How could I do such a thing, to laugh at their dead faces? I fell to my knees.

Such evil. I watched my bloody hands shake in fear. Was this truly me?

Tears were threatening to spill

. Then she spoke. This is your true nature. I couldn't decide whether to laugh or cry.

Insanity was becoming my new sane. I still couldn't cry or laugh, my emotions remaining in hibernation as I just stared at nothing. My world had suddenly stopped, a void had formed, ripping me open. I felt drained and completely empty, but then he was there, holding me in his arms. The world spun once more, the void closed, the emptiness nonexistent. I held on to him and took deep breaths.

Again. Death said cheerfully. I shall grant you a wish when you need it but note, it is only for your personal gain. Therefore no trying to save anyone. This is a selfish wish. Till next time.

What would I need a selfish wish for if I could only save myself?

Death chuckled darkly. Trust me dear Milianda, the time will come.

That was the first time he used my name, and I knew that whatever I was going to use the wish for I couldn't handle now, so for now that wish will linger in the dark.

"Are you feeling better?" Derick cut me from my thoughts, stroking my back as we sat on the dirty tiles. I managed a nod. I expected him to glare at me or ask what Death had been implying, but he said nothing. He must have not heard the conversation with Death. Somehow, deep down I was grateful.

"So care to explain this? Why would they want to kill you? Are you sure you're their real child?" His body stiffened. I immediately regretted asking, refusing to look at his face. Instead I tried to count the debris from the broken door. I felt ashamed. I hadn't even thought before I opened my big mouth.

"I'm sorry," I whispered, still looking towards the broken door, feeling very stupid and selfish. I shifted away from his body awkwardly. It felt depressing because normally Derick would say something like 'it's not your fault' or 'don't apologize' but it never came. Instead, we were greeted by silence. Me and my big mouth. I apologized again but like the first it fell on deaf ears. I couldn't handle the hurt flowing off him. I got up about to leave, maybe check on my parents when I felt his hands engulf mine. Relief washed over my entire being. He had not forsaken me, yet. I sighed but my relief was short-lived.

"Don't ever speak about them to me!" I turned to face demon Derick. His eyes blazed with hate. Half of me was scared, the other was trilled. "I have no parents," he continued. I nodded slowly, hoping he understood my gesture. Finally he let go of my hand, got up, and left the house, leaving me broken again. It was my fault. My head dropped in defeat. I'm so selfish. My palms found my eyes. I sobbed. I was so tired of crying, but for Derick, I had no choice but to make an exception. "I'm sorry," I kept mumbling to myself. Then a strong arm I was so familiar with wrapped itself around my shoulders pushing me into a strong chest.

"I'm sorry" I mumbled some more. He sighed and just held on to me while I kept mumbling my apology.

"Can we not do this now? Let's just go check on your parents, okay?"

I could only nod against his chest.

****

One week had passed since that blood curling incident and Derick and I had gotten much closer. He still refused to tell me what went wrong with his parents and didn't push. I couldn't push again after he had nearly walked out on me. It crushed me.

As for my parents, they were fine and healthy. The whole incident to them was a robbery that Derick had saved us from, which only made them love him more. Awesome perks of knowing Death.

"See you later," Derick pecked me on the lips and spanked my ass in goodbye. He was a very bad influence on me. I smiled as I walked down to my class in bum shorts and one of Derick abstractly-patterned shirts. How I got the shirt? Well I visit him once in a while. Who was I kidding? I visited every bloody day and we always ended up in a heavy make up session.

I walked into English class and all heads turned, but the only admiration I would take any day was Derick's. I simply ignored them and immediately, accidentally walked into someone. I quickly bent down, helping whoever it was to pick up their books.

"I'm sorry," I said as I stood upright, coming face to face with a cute glass-wearing girl. She looked really small since she didn't really have visible woman parts. She had wavy chestnut hair, blue eyes, and red lips. She was the kind of cute I would like to dress as a living barbie.

"No, I'm the one who's sorry," she hesitantly said, running to the corner of the class. It was then that I caught a whiff of something. She smelled like death too, except different. I couldn't quite place it. I glanced over at where she sat but she looked away immediately. I sighed and walked to the back to settle down.

I listened to half of the lecture before my eyes began to drift towards the brunette girl. Isn't death satisfied with both of us? Did he kill her too? But I doubted it, he only killed intentionally after a 50 year interval, meaning he had 49 more years to go. I tapped my pen against the desk, oblivious to teacher that now stood in front of me.

"Miss Gramms, am I boring you?" She looked angry, it obviously was not a question, but I wanted to say yes just to get a rise out of her.

"I'm sorry." I stopped the tapping immediately and pasted a smile on my face until she walked away, resuming her lecture and leaving me with my thoughts once again. How come I have never seen that girl? Not like I know all the girls in this school. Did she recently die?

"Babe?"

"Mm-hmm," I was taken unawares by Derick's presence. "What are you doing here? When did you get here?" I was shocked.

"A minute ago. What are you thinking about?" He took my hands and bag and lead me out of class before I could comprehend what had taken place.

"Well, simply put, I met a girl and I think she is like us."

"How do you know?" He look taken aback. "Maybe it's another game," he added.

"Well, how would I know?" I replied.

"We are only supposed to detect our partners," he was talking to himself, head raised toward the ceiling.

"Yeah but she smelt different. Wait, what do we smell like? How come I've never thought of that?" I asked excitedly.

Derick looked lost for a minute, "Not exactly. I can only really see..." he focused for some seconds on my body "...iron. I see metal."

"I guess we are on the same page, I could smell iron. Now I can see it and she definitely did not smell like us." I was thinking too much.

"Babe, although you look cute thinking, we could just ask her after gym class, during lunch."

"I guess," I shrugged, easily keeping up with Derick's pace all the way to gym. "So what did you do in class today?" I asked. He looked upwards, like he was trying to avoid the question. "Seriously?" I shook my head. "You still tried to set the teacher on fire when you don't even have the power too?" I smirked and poked his side, gaining his attention. So much hate for school. I laughed.

Gym was easy, having gained strength, stamina, and certain abilities I was yet to understand. Miss Kloe loved us and our peers either envied us or admired us. If only they knew.

We walked hand in hand to the cafeteria, enjoying our moment of cliché before Death decided to bother us next. Death was probably playing with other pawns. Who knows?

"Hey," I shook Derick as he spoke with the football captain. "That's her." He directed his gaze to were I was pointing, cutting short his discussion with Bryan. I waved to Bryan and pulled Derick away with me.

"Hi," I greeted. She was working on something but I couldn't tell what it was because she closed it immediately and looked at me. "Can we sit here?" She looked left and right then back at us, but we had taken the seats already. She looked so dumbstruck. She opened her mouth and closed it again.
"I'm Milianda and this is Derick," I pointed towards Derick.

She still didn't sat anything so I pushed an eyebrow up, "And you are?" I said in a very nice, sweet, calm tone. I hoped I had one.

"I'm...Rina," she finally said, more like whispered. She looked so shy. Cute.

"Nice to meet you Rina," Derick spoke up and she blushed a deep shade of pink.

"Um, why are you talking to me?" Rina asked. I raised eyebrow but she continued, "You guys are popular, amazing at almost everything, and beautiful. Well, except you," she turned to a smiling Derick, blushing again "You are handsome," she whispered.

I laughed, "But you're so cute too, don't you think so, handsome Derick?"

"Of course. I would totally go for her," he winked her way. Rina looked like she wanted to disappear from embarrassment, she wasn't used to flirting. So innocent.

"Not to startle you, you alright? You seem fidgety." I looked her over cautiously and she smiled for the first time. Her dimples on display.

"You guys are so nice."

"And you're so cute," I cooed in response, but she tensed and looked to the back, where a dark-haired guy stood. He was hot but not my type. He had soft eyes, wasn't as intimidating like my Derick, but people still couldn't get close to him. That was the vibe he carried.

"Is that your crush?" I whispered, she blushed. "He is hot," I added.

"No, no. Um," she was fidgeting again. "I feel like I know him. I'm blabbing nonsense." She put her head down, a little embarrassed. Then it hit me. That was how I'd felt about Derick. I looked at them both and I could see a a clear liquid. It wasn't water, it looked thicker than that. It hung on the air linking them both. I took a deep breathe and smelt it. It was oil.

"Have you spoken to him before?"

She shook her head. I just transfered here on Monday" she looked at me "and for no good reason" she added.

Derick leaned forward placing folded arms on the table looking at her intensively. He
must have seen their bond.

"Until I saw him" she shrugged more at Dericks intense stare.
She looks so lost and I am so nice.

"Did you have an accident before this feeling" I just had to ask and her big blue eyes widened.

"How did you know" she replied panicked. "I thought it was a dream" how did I know it wasn't a dream. She started sobbing.

"Calm down" I pleaded, I felt sorry for her.

"Hey what's going on here" Mr dark haired pipped in angrily.

I rolled my eyes "nothing hero" I scoffed and he stalked closer like he wanted to threaten me. I laughed and Derick smirked. "Were you planning on threatening me" I smirked.

"B**ch, you can't-" he just called me a B**ch. Derick didn't bat an eye but he did look like he pitied the boy, if that was what the smirk on his face signified.

"I dare you to call me that again" I gritted my teeth, pushed at my blood lust. My eyes glaring into his soul. He stumbled back and dropped his head afraid to look me in the eye anymore. "Now sit" my voice monotonic. He hurriedly sat beside the still crying Rina while Derick radiated pride.

"Have I told you how much I love you" Derick said gazing into my eyes before turning to meet the still quivering boy "Never talk to my babe like that agian" Derick threatened deadly calm and the dark haired boy shrunk into Rina.

"Rina, are you alright now" I said my voice gentle. She lifted her face from her palm before noticing the guy at her side. She yelped suprised.

"Umm hi?"

"Hi" he smiled calm in her presence.

"Name?" I directed the question to the boy, he suddenly looked on edge but answered

"James" was he serious, he didn't look like a James, not like I know what they look like. I looked him over again. Definitely not a James.

"Now that we have settled the part that you guys have died" James looked shock at my statement.

"I thought it was dream" he spoke up. Weird, when I died I was so certain.

"It wasn't" Rina whispered no one in particular. She was still recovering from her shock. "So how are we connected?" I nearly missed the statement when it left her lips. "I had the need to see him"

"Me too" James smiled like it was some sort of love connection.

I rolled my eyes at their cliché moment as I hit Derick on the arm "they think it's love" he smirked. I turned to them "this hunk here" pointing at Derick "hated me for no good reason" I shook my head recalling the first day I saw him at school. "Anyway it's more of like you are bound"

They both looked confused.

Then Derick spoke "if one of you dies the other dies too"
The bell rang. "Go to go" Derick stood and raised me up by the arm as I jumped smoothly out of the seat(bench). He pulled me into his arm and placed a kiss on my neck.

"So take care of each other" I sighed still in my state of Derick high. "We have to go Derick" and reluctantly he let go both going different ways to our last class.

*****
The moon looked dull because of the tinted window. Yeah Derick had a tinted window in his house. I still found it weird.

I had told my parents I was sleeping over at a friends house to study not like I added it would be Dericks house.

"Food is ready"

"What food?"

"Macaroni and cheese" Derick replied. I turned to meet Derick in nothing but jeans hanging a little too low showing of his ripped boby with 8 packs and a 'v' line leading down to you know what, suddenly I was hungry for something that wasn't food related.

"Yum, I think I want something else "I licked my lips. His eyes had a sparked in mischief.

I walked up to him and began tracing my hands on his chest, abs down to the 'v' line but he stopped me, entangled his hand in my head and slammed his lips against mine pulling me into his body. His lips moved with mine as well as his tongue with the same intensity I produced. I jumped unto his arms wrapping my hands around his neck and legs on his waist making his hands grip my ass.

"Mmmm" I moaned into his mouth but just when things were getting hot and heavy a clatter came from the kitchen and we stopped abruptly.

"What was that" I whispered while Derick placed me back on the floor slowly, picked up his shirt from the bed.

"How would I know" he responded putting on his shirt.

Read " Eve " by the same author ( Amy Maduka )

. Another clatter.

"Death why now, when I was having a moment. Don't you know the meaning of privacy" I mumbled. Derick chuckled. Normally Death would have zapped me for not respecting him, so I guessed this wasn't Him.

"Let's check it out" Derick signalled me to follow. He got into the kitchen first "What is that?"

"What, what" I said excited rather than scared. I hopped to his back and peeped from the space in his arms. He was too tall to try above his shoulders.

"Shit" nope that wasn't human. It was like a cloaked fog, black with white clear eyes floating on air. Then it screeched with razor sharp teeth in a hollow mouth moving towards us.

"F**k it. Run Mil"

Derick didn't have to say it twice. We were one with the wind.
