Sandra POV…

The real deal now….

The pre-inauguration ground was full of dignitaries. I was just standing when he walked towards me.

What ! Could this be him. My plans kicked in

 I stepped up to him

  "Hello,my name is Sandra, a wife to the governor to be whose pre-inauguration we are witnessing today"

"Hello madam, I'm glad to see you. In fact we've been expecting you for so long . Welcome to Nigeria and our state". Dave greeted and walked away briskly without recognising me. Of course he won't remember seeing me in our hotel in the US, because I had turned my back at  him all the time we were talking , pretending to be doing something at the same time.

I  was very close to him this time to recognise the permanent deep mark on his lower lip, a mark I saw first at that room when his mask fell off his face

As he  was going, my gaze was on him and the memory of that fateful evening played back as a reflective mirror. His stout stature didn't really change much except with a few strands of white beards here and there." 

It's Dave for sure so let's see what Sandra wants from him 

 "Got you bi**h!"... I exclaimed beneath my breath ! 

Dave POV...

2 days after…

 In another political meeting, she  walked up to me

. Of course the wife to our incoming governor. I was excited to meet her again but....  

 "Hello Gully!"  She whispered to me

I was Startled and turned to look around to see if anyone had heard her 

 "What did you say" ? I inquired feigning ignorance. Of course I knew who Gully was and the only person that  could call me that must know my past very well."

  "I said hello Gully ,you heard me , right?" she said with a slow emphasis.

  "What greeting is that" I pretended

 " Very convenient to play innocent, cut the crap man and your pretentious look , you know what I'm talking about. You want us to play safe here or act some drama to entertain this occasion. I'm in Hollywood for your information. "

I Started to shiver, held her by the arm and walked her a distance so no one could eavesdrop.

  " Easy Mister, that's not how to hold a lady. You walk too fast. Cool men!" She cautioned him

  "Cool what, who are you and what do you want" I asked frantically.

  "Gully, I'm your shadow, got that" she boomed me

  "Stop it , don't call me that name again. It was in the past...20 years ago. Time has changed, stop it." I said

  "Really? Past my foot, ain't not gonna clean up the past just like that ,no way men!" She retorted in American tone with clenched teeth 

 At that  point, I knew I was in muddy waters full of starving crocodiles. But I was not going to let her have her way, never!

  "Hey woman, you think you can come  to Nigeria and play that American drama  right? You've met a Lion " I reacted

  "Oh yea !!! Let me warn you baby, lions don't get near the land of the spirit. Be wise and play along Mr Gully!" She warned me. 

What does this woman want? who is she? I wished she didn't come to Nigeria from wherever she dropped from. Is she really the governor's wife? How come she knew my dark past. I started pondering

I began to sweat inside  and it showed on my forehead. I had to remove my  jacket and hold it.

  "Hey! hey ! What are you doing, men, peeing in your panties already? Be a man, men!"

She said sarcastically. At that point, the governor came  on to her and she left me and walked up to him. 

Before she left, she whispered, 

  "Gully go and think, let us meet again next week Thursday at Houston bar by 5 pm!..."

How does she know Huston bar if she is really a stranger that arrived a week ago? This has been a popular bar for ages though, but how can a stranger know this place. .

That day, I Came home late from the political meeting with the stalwarts.

  "Darling' Your food is on the table" , my wife said. I ignored and layed on my sofa thinking about what happened at the inauguration. She came close and tapped on my shoulder.

  "Darling, I say your food is right on the table. Go and …"

I snapped at her .." Will you get out of here? What food is that , you can shove it into your throat alone and leave me in Peace woman" 

Yes I needed peace. Peace from the troubles of that American woman! But peace eluded me.

My wife was shocked. I, too, couldn't believe that came from me. I reacted the way I never did . I wanted to apologise to her right away, hold her, kiss her and make love to her, sending her to a beautiful world of ec*tasy but I was restrained by the weight of what I was facing with Sandra. Her words had struck me like a thunderbolt. I needed some sleep, but couldn't. Well , let me drink myself to stupor. That's what I did and ended up sleeping inside my bar.

  "Good morning daddy" I was startled and woke up from the bar like a chased rat. 

  "Good morning my children, go to school bye"

 In shame I  ran quickly up the stairs to my room as I was responding to my children's greeting.

What is all this for Dave? Will this have a happy ending?

  "Yes! I got it" I shouted kicking my bed side in ec*tasy

  "Darling, got what. Can I share in the excitement if you were appointed the Commissioner as you requested? Please tell me" 

My wife was begging me to break the news as she was dressing up for work.

  "Never mind dear, I will get you into the know of it", I calmed her down, ...pipipi..tititi….I started hissing a  melodious tune to the consternation of my wife and even me.

When my wife left for work, I went to my private study to work out a detailed plan on how to outsmart  Sandra. I knew Sandra had me on the balls and I must wriggle out of it by all means . I cannot face the shame that is awaiting me as Mr Guillotine, who actually maimed the goverñors" I rather die than to face the shame. I said to myself.

Hmm, something that is stronger than the Lion has met the Lion for combat .
