Sammy POV
Dr .Stevens was also doing his medical practise as well so he needed me to be on hand to assist in the running of his big hotel. That wouldn't have been the reason he asked me to see him in his office.... I already knew that.
"Good morning Sir, you sent for me" I said
"Oh yea I did, please sit down."
He continued doing what he was doing and pretended as if I wasn't there...so I thought.
Do you know that I sat there for 30 minutes...30 solid minutes of my time on earth just staring at the ceiling , walls and everything around his oval office, except his bearded broad face…. Don't ask me why I didn't….Even at that I was annoyed within me . How can this man bring me to his office to sit without telling me anything? I'm I his new body guard? Me, body guard , with my skinny look. ( Hmm! This American sef.)
My instinct set in, I coughed twice in rapid succession… he looked at me and to my constatation , he scuttled for his mask and strapped it over his nose and continued typing on his computer. It was then I managed to look at his face, not really in protest but to let him know that I don't have it… Have what?.. Covid 19 of course !
When I couldn't bear it anymore after 45 minutes of sitting there doing nothing.

. "Sir, you asked me to come and see you. Is anything the matter."
"No, nothing particularly." He said
At this point , I wanted to stand up , walk away , in fact walk away from everything , from him, work,everything. including her daughter but I restrained myself. "Ok, I must see the end of this," I soliloquized.
Five minutes after , he printed what he was typing.
"Here,this is your promotion letter to be the assistant GM of this hotel and my factory too.. This other letter you will take it to my lawyer. It's about the will. I've decided to include you in my will."
Did I really hear him well? Since I didn't respond on time , he repeated what he said and handed me the letters.
"I'm going to ask Sandra to give you the details. Congratulations. You can go now." He added
"Thank you very much Sir, I ,l,.." I stammered
"Sammy, don't worry you can go now" he advised me just to cut off my stuttering.
Can you see, it is good to be patient. Sammy, learned to be patient .You Would have missed it! I screamed at myself as I opened the door and walked away.
I wasn't really doing much other than managerial works but Sandra was all over me , all the time. When I'm not in the factory, She would ask me to come to her office most times and when I rushed in there, she wouldn't have any good reason to give me.
One day she called me on the phone to come over to her office. When I got there , she said "Sammy , I just wanted you to come here so I can tell you that I love you" . "What? Is that what you couldn't tell me on the phone or at home"? I screamed at her. She laughed.
Of course she did that so I wouldn't talk to any female staff other than her. She was such a pest on my neck.You know what.. she nacks too!. Oh yes, all women do, but hers is with distinction!!! .
On my way to work one day , I gave one of our most reliable staff a lift. As the girl alight from my vehicle, Sandra walked to her.
' Helen, where are you coming from. She asked.
"Ma, I…. Helen didn't complete her sentence...
"Helen be silent, you are fired . Please hand over all documents in your possession to the admin officer and come to my office right away. " Sandra said
I was transfixed...certainly embarrassed ! She did all she wanted in her father's hotel.
Sincerely at times, I will be thinking of going back to Nigeria and that opportunity actually knocked…
