Regret - Episode 6

"Mummy, I'm okay already. I would like to start going back to school, I miss my friends". Sara told her mother as they were in the living room watching a soap opera.

"Are you sure?, You're not feeling any more pains anywhere?".

"Yes mum".

"Okay, this afternoon we would go and check with the  doctor if it is okay for you to start going to school,and if he approves, you would resume tomorrow".

"Yesss, I would get to see my friends " Sara said happily".

"Mummy, do you know that I have a new friend?"

"Ehn,tell me about it"

. "Her name is Ruby, she's the same age as I am. She has a driver that comes to pick her up from school, she said her mother works in a hospital and is too busy to come pick her. She is nice. She just joined us this term". Sara said with a smile on her face.

"So you like your new friend ?"Yes mum, I like her and people say we look alike, but I don't see any resemblance".

"Hehe, Sara you're funny" Rose said in amusement.

"So I called you guys here because I have a job for you" she said.

"We'll do anything as far as our payment is assured".

. She attends Bright stars Academy. They dismiss by 1:00 pm. So I want you to be there by 12:30 so you can wait for her and seize the opportunity before her mother comes to pick her up."

"Okay madam, but we need a deposit before we start the job."

."Okay, this is two hundred and fifty thousand naira, when you complete the job, you'll receive the rest.

She had hired three thugs to kidnap Sara since she realized that a response from Amy wasn't forthcoming. She needed an alternative fast. She figured that it was probably Mike's child with Rose that was tying him down to the marriage. If she would be able to kill her then maybe Mike would consider her. She already has two sons for him, what more does he need. She needed to handle matters fast. She couldn't bear being the hidden woman. She couldn't stand being the woman behind the curtains anymore. She had to take drastic measures. Because for sure she didn't believe Mike when he said he would do something. So instead of waiting for him she would do it herself.

She heard her phone ring upstairs. Rose was downstairs in the kitchen making lunch. She quickly rinsed and dried her hands as she rushed upstairs to pick the call.

"Oh It's even Lola" Rose said as she picked up the call.

"Hello"

"Ah Rose, how are you?" Lola asked

I'm fine oo.. What about you, I've not heard from you since that day you and Tonye came to visit".

"Yes oo, I've been busy with work.   Don't blame me, work has just been very hectic. But I'll come by one of these days".

"Ah, my friend don't stress yourself too much oo.

"Come and tell my boss oo" Lola said laughing. "I just called to check up on you, to see how you were doing, you know now, since I haven't visited. Let me be going. I'll stop by one of these days".

"Okay my friend, till then. Rose said as she put down the phone.

"Hmmm, thank God for these friends God gave me oo. Always checking up on me" Rose was saying as she walked back to the kitchen to continue what she was cooking.

"Madam, I called you to my office to tell you that your son has only three weeks to live. So you have to look for where you would get the money so that your son can be operated upon as soon as possible".

Amy was speechless. She looked at the doctor as if he was spewing nonsense. She couldn't lose her son. No she would not let it happen. She had to come up with something fast. But what could she do. She remembered her husband's younger brother. He was a very rich business man who dealt on cars. She decided that she would go and beg him for money. Even if her in-laws had abandoned her when her husband died after taking all her husband's property from her, she still believed they didn't have the heart to allow her son to die. After all he was their son too.

"Yes ,our wife, this one you decided to visit today I hope there is no problem " Mr Akabogu, her husband's brother said.
