Ella

I got into the house just as Lucy was coming out.

"Hey, where went you? Where's Kaima?" She asked, looking tired in her work clothes

"I dropped her at the airport two to three hours ago. She has a wedding in Lasgidi."

"Which Kain? And when did that one come up?"

"Met her last night in the kitchen. She didn't want to go but I convinced her shaa . I just decided to pick some groceries and drive around a bit. Asaba to this place looks far today."

"Just say you're lazy. Your PA is not around o so let's get the things you bought."

I hissed as we went back to the car park to get the things I bought.

"Heard your side guy's birthday is in two weeks. It's all over Instagram. I'm so going to be there." Lucy said bringing down the bag of semolina

"Happy going. I'm not going anywhere. I might even be in Lagos then." I replied, carrying down two tubers of yam

"Don't be such a boring girl. We only live once o. And ehen, what were you thinking when u asked Frank to follow you to your movie camp?"

I sartisthtened up and looked at her

"What do you mean? I'm getting married to this guy soon."

"Thank God you know you're still going to get married to him. You're not married yet so there are some things he's not meant to know

She looked at me and shook her head.

"You won't understand Ella. This things don't work like that. Mike likes you, he's an artist like yourself and will help take your career to the next level. He has connections and just being his friend alone will take you places. Don't get me wrong, I love your relationship with Frank and I can't wait to see you both walk down the aisle but don't shut Michael out like that. Instead of rubbing it to his face, why not make him a friend? Don't......."

"You know what? I'm taking this things inside. I'm done having this conversation." I picked the things I had kept on the floor and walked into the house.

Ella was in the sitting room playing street fighter on her play station when her phone rang. She looked at the called ID and smiled before activating the call

"Hello K. I've been expecting your call. How was your trip?"

Kaila sobbed on the other end and Ella quickly sat up

"What is it K? Why are you crying?"

"I was robbed." She cried

"Jesus Christ! How? When?" Ella exclaimed, attracting the attention of Lucy who was in the kitchen

"I was about to enter the uber I called when this guys snuck up behind me and asked me to give them my purse. Good thing my phone was in my pocket. I gave them the purse now I'm stranded, my ATM card, money and other things are in the purse."

"Jesus. Have you called the would be bride?"

"Yes. She has an emergency and will be out of town for two days. I don't know what to do now. Don't even have a place I can crash tonight." Kaima cried

"Calm down girl. Urm, let me call Frank and see what'll happen okay? Don't worry, you've got us okay?"

"Thank you."

Ella ended the call and saw Lucy glaring at her.

"What? Kaima was.........."

"And you think Frank will be the messiah abi. There's still time, Kaima should go to the nearest bank and get some cash. I have a bad feeling about this."

"The bad thing has already happened. Plus, why will she even lodge when Frank has a house in town? Biko let me call him."

Lucy hissed and walked back to the kitchen while Ella dialed Frank's number. What was it anyway? She was just helping a friend.

SIXTY-FIVE MINUTES LATER

"And welcome to my house dear." Frank said as they both got into the house.

She looked around and boy, was she impressed? She wanted to smile but she remembered she had an act to put up. She sniffed and murmured under her breadth

"Oh come on, are you still crying? It's okay. I promise to refund whatever that was in the purse, just cheer up." Frank assured

"But I hate to inconvenience you. I......."

"I have six bedrooms in this house and you're only doing me a Favour to stop that okay? Come let me show you to your room."

He helped her with her box while she followed admiring him from behind and wondering what her next line of action would be.
