Forever, Mitchell - Episode 10

Let's talk... Doesn't always mean a happy ending.

I wasn't able to quit, my contract states that I have to pay for damages if I do so.

So I'm still stuck in this hell hole of a job.

I've all but given up on my part time job.

Madam K has lifted my probation and I've gone back to my kitchen and cleaning duties..

About time.

This new schedule means I don't get to see the family again and that's fine by me.

I have learnt my lesson, twice burned and all that.

It's been a week since the incident and I got away semi unscathed, I have a cast on my wrist and a bandaid on my brow. 

I'm grateful that's all I got. 

"Are you still mad?" Bryant asks, coming into view from where I'm cleaning the railings. 

I grab the bucket and go down another stair, he follows me. 

"I gave you at least one week to be mad at us, we are sorry we didn't do anything, we are scared of Xavier just as much as you were" he says, helping me to lift the bucket when I go  do so. 

"I'm not mad at you Bryant, I'm just not going to be friends with you anymore" 

"Why?" 

"Because I get hurt when I relate with either of you people" 

"Clarissa pranking you was not our fault" 

"No, it wasn't, it was my fault, I became friends with you all, I forgot my place as a paid help" 

"Don't say it like that" He says but I don't reply him. 

"Tyler's sorry he didn't come to your rescue the other night" 

He says.

"Its OK bry, I don't care" He rolls his eyes at that 

"You should know that he has past criminal records and acting on the rage he was feeling would have escalated things " 

This gained my attention so I turned. 

"Criminal records?" 

"Yeah, he was involved in a gang war when he was my age and he almost went to prison for killing two people, Xavier had to pull some strings to get him out" 

"What?" 

"He's on a probation of sorts, he has people watching his every move in this house, madam K is one of them, she was present the other night, if he had made a move Xavier would have killed him or send him to military school" He says, picking the rag that falls from my hand. 

"Are you telling me the truth?" I really want to believe what he is saying is true. 

"Yes, madam K is Xavier's eyes and everything in this house, you should never trust her, I want her gone just as much as everyone, the only person who can send her away will be Xavier's wife" He says and I shudder to think of the person who is going to marry that man. 

The person who is going to share his bed. 

"But anyways, you should believe me, if only you could see what Tyler did to Kennedy on your behalf the other day, I swear the guy will never eat from his mouth again." He says, seating his ass on the stairs so I can't pass, he needn't have bothered, I stopped anyway to ask. 

"Tyler beat up Kennedy?" 

"Beat is a subtle word, try decimate, Tyler has anger issues" He says with a smile and a flutter starts in my stomach , the anger and hurt i feel towards the second son of Knox begins to deteriorate. 

"So, you still mad at me?" 

"Never was mad at you Bry" I say and he smiles, ruffling my hair before getting up from the stair. 

"Good, see you later grams, I apologize for Xavier's behavior too" He says before leaving. 

I finish with the railing before moving to the stairs, I have to sweep up all the dead grass and I'm done to clock out for today. 

I grab a broom when he shows up. 

"Hey" He says and I nod. 

"Hey" I reply. 

He just stands there awkwardly before pointing at the broom. 

"You need any help?" 

"No, I'm good, thanks" I say, half-heartedly sweeping up the grass. 

"I f*cked up, I should have done something when the moron started hitting on you, I'm sorry" He says and I nod. 

"How mad are you at me? What do I need to do to get back into your good graces?" 

I don't reply, just continue sweeping. 

"Mitchell?" 

"It's okay Tyler" I say, moving away and he grabs my arm to hold me. 

He takes a step forward and looks deep into my eyes. 

"I hurt you." 

"You did" I say simply, no need to sugar coat the truth. 

"Help me make it up to you, please" He says and my stupid untried heart melts, it melts for this person standing in front of me. 

"It's going to be a lot of work" 

"Hit me" He says and that forces a smile to break from my lips. 

He smiles back and I wonder if I could bottle it up and sell to the world. 

I would be a gazillionaire.
