Broken pieces - Episode 8

 

Sorry Ebonites, had a tight schedule for this past week. But Broken Pieces is back. This is just the breaking point, the big climax is here.

JORDAN'S HOUSE.

It was a cool evening with drizzle. Johnpaul had brought home some akara buns wrapped with a newspaper. Kaima served him custard. She had brought out a loaf of bread from the refrigerator not knowing that JP had a better option.
"JP, did you get akara? I can percieve it's aroma." She asked as John walked to the dinning area.
After unwrapping the akara inside a plate, his attention was drawn to a writing on the paper, and after that he had perused the heading, he decided to read out to Kaima's hearing.

"This is ridiculously to the ministry of Mercy Seat Assembly, that while Apostle Adelabu was officiating at Johnpaul/Kaima's wedding, his wife was at the same time penning down marriage contract for Mike and Yvonne at the court . Apostle Adelabu have had it logger headed with his wife on the doctrine of marriage and the illegal issuing of marriage certificate by most churches. Mrs Adelabu has maintained that marriage should not be a church affairs, if church should come into it, it will be on a mutual agreement of the two that will be getting married. That day, Apostle Adelabu have finished the wedding service when His wife walked down aisle with Mike and Yvonne

. Gisthub also gathered that the two wedded couples were friends from high school and that they also cohabit one of the luxurious mansion in Jordan estate. The look at the face of the church superintendent on that very day posed feeling of abnormalies as the congregation and guests  stood awed. When Apostle Adelabu left the pulpit to his office, His wife Bar Mrs Adelabu picked the Mike to address the church.

"These couple with me here have not erred in any way, except if any of you, or our daddy will prove them wrong from any passage of the Bible where it was said that the church will have the responsibility of joining two people as husband and wife. Be it as it is, need be to remind us, that this ministry have not been approved by the government to issue any certificate of marriage, therefore we should now tell between I and the church who have erred. For this reason, most marriages that was carried out in such a ministry like ours that have no legal right to register marriage had had their marriage contract not binding in the law court. So before any of you should wag tongues, first of all ponder on this. Please I beg our daddy the General oversea, that this young couple haven done the right thing should have their marriage dedicated to God, for that is the way it should be." 
Ripples of murmur erupted after her speech but  later was a juxtaposition when the Apostle mounted back the pulpit and bless their marriage. Immediately, the raido artist Yvonne Cush dashed out to pose on photograph with their bestie who have been shooting with the illegal marriage certificate unknown to them. When interviewing the witnesses, some expecially the church members frowned at the ridiculous act by the wife of the superintendent, while others backed her actions, saying that the scene was an eye opener that Mercy Seat Assembly and host of other churches that have no legal right to issue marriage certificate have been doing so in disobedience to the rule of law. One of the guest who rather choose to remain anonymous maintained that such act should be labeled fraudulent. Another female guest also called on the government institution that is in charge of such law to wage into these form of fraudulent. Johnpaul looked up at Kaima after reading, ushering a mocking laughter as  he dropped the news paper.
"Wait, how did you get that paper" Kaima asked picking it to be sure of what Johnpaul had read.
"It was used  to foil the akara bons" Johnpaul spilled the milk and start stirring it with the custard in the plate. "After all Yvonne's effort to have a  secret wedding" John continued.
"That is not my concern, didn't you get it where it reads that the church have not been approved to issue a marriage certificate, babe it should be our utmost concern." She said regrettably.
"Meaning what, certificate or not, we are married" Johnpaul seems not to be bothered about the marriage paper.
"So who invited the Gisthub to the wedding?" Kaima wondered.
"You will have to allow me enjoy my meal ok, don't let them see the paper, just keep it save?" Johnpaul said as he was busy stirring the custard.

From the dinning to the bedroom was with some wispers of gossip about Mike and Yvonne. How Yvonne job and parental upbring have influenced her social life, also the mixed felling about Mike not being supportive to her career.

"This particular guy Peter, I have warned him to deal with it, or talk it out with Yvonne." Mike said as he yanked the pillow from the bed 
"And while will he discuss that with her, he should know it's her job ethics." Kaima frowned.
"I wish he understand. Please join in the bracket." Johnpaul jammed he feet rigorously to remove any possible sand particle, 

They buried their head inside the bracket, playing inside and were disturbed shortly by Kaima's phone call. She looks displease by the call. She'd had this feeling that it's an emergency call but Johnpaul would not allow her to ignore the call. 

"But you had a day shift." Johnpaul asked furiously.
"We're having deficiency with midwifery, it's Kaima alone on that." Kaima replied.
"Pick the call first, you never can tell." Johnpaul insisted.
She reluctantly pickd up her phone,  frowned on hearing Dr pat voice.

Voice on phone "Sorry for disturbing you, we might need your urgent assistant."

"Oh no, not this night" Johnpaul frowned.
Kaima looked pitifully at her husband,  the inevitable sensual feelings that the weather brought have been twarted. He darted at her with impatient and faced the other side of the bedroom.
"Dr Pat why?" She cried.
