Black Beret - Episode 1

 

It was a sunny Sunday morning as the sun rises from the eastern part of Warri city at the early hours of the diurnal course. Such days are rare and ponderous especially for the fact that it comes once or twice a year... 

Mr. and Mrs. Smith were sighted from afar walking sluggishly discussing about something very important to them, but to Parcy they weren't doing him any favour as he was supposed to start the service with the opening song. 
They finally approached their Benz 190 car, where Parcy and his younger Sister Ada were. 

 Unhesitatingly they hooped in, with same discussion that seems not to end. It was actually based on the fact that Mrs . Smith had a terrible dream about this day and pleaded with her husband not to take the family to church, but Mr. Smith never wanted to hear such as he believed every successful and God-fearing family must always worship the Lord in his sanctuary.... 

Parcy ignored their argument and pleaded with his Dad to hasten up while driving, knowing fully well that they got just 15 minutes to get to the service hall. The Dad promised to do that because he knew Parcy hates entering church late, since he is part of the choristers and everyone must surely sees him whenever he walks towards the choir stand as a late comer. 

GREATER GRACE BIBLE CHURCH 

Mr. Smith and his family arrived the church premises on time, and this really gladdens the heart of Parcy. 
He hurriedly rushed into the church to take his seat on the front row, at the choir stand. 

In a jiffy, the pastor came in and the service was put to a start.
After the choir master finished taking the praise songs, he handed over to Parcy who was in the spirit has he led the worship songs... 

While singing, majority of the church members were manifesting and others speaking in strange languages (speaking in tongues)

. It was so spiritual that the people never wanted the worship section to come to an end, but Parcy got no other choice than to obey the signal from the head pastor;

"Praise the Lord!" Was the first statement the pastor exclaimed, immediately the praise and worship section was over.

"Hallelujah" The congregation responded.

"Our Heavenly Father has blessed us with great singers that when they give exaltations, anointing begins to flow. We give praises and thanks to God for all that he has been doing" The pastor energetically affirmed.

"At this junction, we will start today's service with the opening prayers so I beseech everyone to stand on their feet so we can open the service by calling the Almighty Father into our midst, because he said in his words that where two or three are gathered he is in their midst" he divulged

Instantaneously, the congregation stood up and the pastor carried on with the prayer. Towards the end of the prayer, some set of young men with black attires stormed the church. 

Their presence made everyone in the building embraced the tiles of the church floor as they all laid down, after seeing the different heavy guns on the possession of the young men. 

The boys were five in number and before they could say anything the entire church was already on submission, because no one knew what their mission was;

"Everyone in here should comport his/herself because we got no mercy, neither are we leaving this building without accomplishing our mission." The head of the gang announced.

At this point, the remaining armed men were moving from row to row as if they were looking for someone. Whereas the head of the gang walked straight towards the pastor who was standing speechlessly on the alter;

"Mr. Pastor, I was expecting you to ask me what I wanted but since you didn't do so I'll tell you myself." He said, as soon as he got to where the pastor was. 

"We came here just to receive our daily bread, but with the look of things no offering has been made so we want you to settle us otherwise you won't like the outcome." The guy proceeded, as he tend to rough handle the pastor by pulling him by his shirt that was tucked-in.

"Please, the church is on a project presently and doesn't have money." The pastor confessed 

"You can't be serious, if you fail to give us at least five hundred thousand Naira (#500,000) we won't spare any soul here." The gangs head declared

"You can't take the lives of God's creations because you aren't the one who gave them the breadth of life... I encourage you to repent my son." The pastor advised

These statements of his wasn't in any way presentable to the head of the gang as he kicked the pastor who fell down on the alter, and smacked his head with his safety boot he was wearing... 

No one could assert a word ever since the heartless blokes entered the church, but Parcy who was so brave and has been watching everything happening stood up; 

"Enough of that my friend, remember the Bible said in the book of 1st chronicles 16:22 that you should touch not his anointed ones and do his prophet no harm" He echoed from the left angle of the church building, which pulled the attention of everyone. 

The armed men were all angered immediately, especially after seeing the small boy that challenged them.

The head of the gang corked his gun without further ado, pointing towards Parcy while the rest of the gang did same as they get themselves ready to fire.....
