A journey that never ends
Time went by. Days turned into weeks and weeks into months. Paschal could neither forgive himself nor his mother for what had happened. Moana was imprisoned for some years contrary to the desire of the Rowan's (Lauretta's parents). Left to them, they would have Moana lynched for her evil deeds towards their daughter. Paschal wanted her to suffer more inspite her been his biological mother but Moana's folks stood by her through it all . They got her a competent lawyer to defend her in court. They insisted that Paschal must play the role of a son that he was irrespective of what took place. Then, Paschal spoke up and made a statement that got everyone confused. He simply told his folks "I already forgave this woman once for a similar deed. Perhaps that is why she could do it again and to me. This time, she will never get my forgiveness except she brings back my wife and unborn child". He walked away from the gathering which was supposed to be a family deliberation. Everywhere became so quiet to the extent that the vicinity could be mistaken for a morgue where nothing living abide. The family head, Mr Linus managed to ask the question, " when and who did she do this to before now?". Paschal who cared not about what would become of his evil mother just answered without looking back "ask the witch when you see her"

. He walked straight into his car and zoomed off. One after the other like brown leaves fall from a tree, they all dispersed without saying anything more to one another. The big question now is, who did she kill? Everyone in the family who had lost someone in the past started asking the question " could it be......?".
Back to the prison yard where Moana was serving her terms. The prisoners were asked to cut some grasses. A female warder entered and asked that Moana's portion be doubled. She got this ill treatment from this woman anytime she was on duty. She was always a bone of contention. She wondered what in heaven's name she had done to her ancestors to make her that cruel and hostile towards her. The warder who was deliberately afflicting Moana seemed to be having the best of time while she watched Moana sweat like someone carrying the burden of the whole world.
It was evening, the warder needed to call it a day. Moana gave a sign of relief as she realized her affliction for the day was over. She would have some time to herself before the next day. The warder ordered that they all stop work for the day except Moana who was to continue working until it was time for dinner. Moana protested by asking "what have I done to you to deserve all these?". The warder replied by saying " I will make you beg for death if by tomorrow you do not do what I ordered you to do". As the warder was about leaving the scene, the prison comptroller came in and asked if they had been allowed to rest for the day. Moana wanted to speak and the warder gave her a "don't you dare look". The warder replied the comptroller with a smile, " yes sir! They are all through for the day". At that point, Moana realized she was in a deep mess. If only she could travel to the past, she would do anything to visit the day she jealously killed her daughter-in-law and her unborn granddaughter. Tears of agony and regret rolled down her cheeks as she bowed her head in distress.
