She liked a page on her Facebook account that always updates subscribers about upcoming Auditions. Her main problem was that most of the venues for the auditions were Lagos state. She used to attend some but none has called her for any role. She was frustrated but never discouraged to keep trying.

She will play Psquare bring it out anytime she needed someone to motivate her. After attending another audition in Lagos, the proposed Director of the movie asked her to wait . She waited for almost three hours after everybody has left the hall used for the audition when the Director came to her.

‘’Sexy lady, sorry for keeping you for a long time’’ the Director flattered her.

‘’Thank you’’ she responded

‘’Meet me at Ultimate Inn for us to talk better’’ he continued

She was livid. ‘’What are you taking me for, one of those ladies using body for roles, a slut?’’. She hissed and walked away. She was very sure nobody will call her for any role.

It was three months after the useless gesture from the Director that someone called her on her way to market on phone. The caller asked if he was talking to Sandra, she thought it was one of her old customers, she was about to reply the caller that she had quit the job

. He introduced himself as Frank Uwew, a movie producer. She parked her call to receive the call.

‘’this is Sandra’’ she replied

‘’can we talk now or later’’ the caller asked

‘’you can go ahead with the call’’ she replied

The caller told her he was impressed by her performance when she came for an audition in Lagos. ‘’I am giving you a role but it is a small budget movie, send your email address to me for the script ’’.

She can’t believe it when she dropped the call. She was given role as one of the minor characters. She was happy to have opportunity to appear on a set. She was anxious and nervous. When she got to location of the movie, the producer introduced everybody on set. She discovered the Director has been changed. Shooting was postponed till the next day.  Female Actor taking the lead role is not available because she lost her father. Both the Director and the Producer were disturbed.

After waiting till next day, the Director called her aside that she will take the lead role because she is more professional than others. She was scared, the movie is a very challenging work “A cry from Sahara’’. It talks about girl marriage in the northern part of the country. She will act as an activist campaigning against the practice in the community. She impressed everybody on set with her performance. Most of the movie producers that came to support one of their own collected her number and all promised to invite her for movies. Before she got to Ibadan, her phone was buzzing and she has been invited for a role in a soap opera.

She used all her social media platforms to promote ‘’A cry from Sahara” when it hit cinema in December. She was also at the cinema to watch it.

It was Joke that called her to break the news that she has been shortlisted in the best Actress category of African Magic Viewer Choice Award. She didn’t know the movie will enter for entry. When she watched the advert she knew her chance of winning it was very slim, notable Nollywood female Actors were also nominated in her category. Bimbo Akintola ‘’63 days’’, Rita Dominic ‘’76’’, Toyin Aimakun ‘’Okafor’s Law’’ and Veteran Joke Silva ‘’Women of Owu’’ adaptation of Femi Osofisan’s book. She started telling everybody to vote for her. She didn’t care if the person has watched the movie or not. She told all her school mates, neighbours and everyone she met on set.

She was nervous as the day for the award draws near. She was happy that her effort is being noticed but her ultimate desire is to win the award.

. Eko Civic center was filled to brim on the day, the red carpet was anchored by Nollywood Actress Funke Akindele Bello ‘’Jenniffer’’. Sandra wore an Armani gown given to her by Joke’s husband, Julius, who also accompanied her to the event. She posed for photograph with legendary film makers across the continent but her mind was not at the red carpet but on the award.

When Tejuface declared the event opened, her nervousness increased. She went to toilet when the event compere said after BBnaija ex-housemate, Debby Rise performed her latest single NO Cunny Cunny, it will be award presentation for the big three – Best Actor – Best Actress – Best Movie.

‘’And the nominees are…’’ she came back from the  rest room.  Each nominee was shown on a projector. It was Akin Lewis, who will present the award to the winner that said ‘’… and the winner is Sandra Adekunle A cry from Sahara’’. She didn’t know if she will run or jump to the podium. She was followed by Joke. Tears flows from her eyes, emotion filled the air. She was short of words but Joke told her to say something. ‘’Thanks to Almighty God, those that voted for me, I  dedicated this award   to all talented guys on the street looking for a platform to showcase their talents, keep working harder’’.

She became an instant face in almost all movies, her schedule became very tight. She started selecting scripts to accept and interview to grant.
