Painful Marriage - Episode 2
JOURNEY TO THE CITY
Before 5:30am on a cold friday morning, Mark had a quick bath, and helped himself with the left over cold bitter leaf soup which was used as dinner the previous night. Few minutes after his meal, he walked down the sloppy area leading to the village only park, were he boarded a bus going to Port Harcourt.
Thoughts of life in the city without any of his family members came into his mind as he journeyed to the land of oil and wealth and fell into a deep slumber amidst his thoughts.
Mike was awoken by the shouts of road hawkers, shouting at the top of their voices and advertising their wares. a little girl of about 9 years old, leaned on the bus and shouting "plantain chips here!!".....Mike shaked his head in pity and wondered why a little girl of that age would be seen in such a busy and dangerous place.With his hands supporting his head, he dozed off.
Few hours later, they arrived the long anticipated city of Port Harcourt, "Oga, here na your parlor"? Startled Mike awake, facing the angry looking conductor . He alighted the bus and brought down his luggage.
