"We are bound."

"And what does that mean?" I asked to my better judgment.

His eyes narrowed as he spoke each word slowly.

"You Die. I Die. If that would be all" he said sarcastically leaving me to my thoughts of what he meant.

I really didn't know how a day could go from terrible to unbelievable, although every single cell in my body believed him.

"I don't get it, I thought I had died already." I spoke to myself down the hall on my way to my next class, gym.

"Run two laps," Miss Kloe clapped with command and everyone sprung into action. It was too easy, I didn't even break a sweat and trust me, the field was almost as big as a normal track . I ran but it felt more like a stroll. Maybe it was a perk of returning from the dead, but what had he meant by being 'bound'.

"Good, very good Milianda, such stamina," she praised. Such praise was very rare. "Go on, go catch your breathe till we begin lawn tennis."

"Yes ma'am."

I made my way to a bench and took a sip of water from my bottle as my eyes landed on Derick. He was sitting one bench away and looking at me

. I decided to wave but he simply ignored the gesture and looked towards the incoming students. Wow, he is such a gentle man. I shrugged at the feeling of being ignored and just waited for Miss Kloe to call out a name and another for him or her to play against.

"Milianda and Michelle!"
I nearly growled out loud. I had totally forgotten about her existence. I couldn't even look at her or breathe in the same air. The betrayal was too much for me to handle but I couldn't care less, the deed was done.

"Hi," her voice hit me like nails on chalk board. I ignored her and made my way to the right side of the net. The gym teacher finally blew the whistle. I took the first serve. It was beautiful, better than the finest serves I'd ever made. I knew I was good but it shocked me. Michelle couldn't even touch it. When she served I smashed at the corners of the court, listening to sounds of 'whoops' and 'take that' and 'woah'. Even Miss Kloe looked amazed.

"Wow, why don't you pick someone else. I will like to watch you play again," she waved my way. Hmm. A certain person I would love to annoy crossed my mind. "Derick."

He came into the court looking annoyed and bored. If eyes could kill, I would have been dead again. I nearly laughed. He served first, I gaped a little before moving to hit the ball. If I thought I was good, I was wrong as he had way more experience. We played, getting on each other's nerves. None of us had made a hit until finally the ball bounced inside his court. I had won but I knew he allowed me to as he walked out of the court gracefully with muscles flexing. How did I get bound to him exactly and why him?

The bell rang after two more plays by other pairs and all I could hear as I left were the murmurs that followed behind me. "Derick is so fine, Derick is this, Derick is that." I doubted they noticed that he didn't give two shits about them. I rolled my eyes.

"Milianda," I dreaded this moment but my feet still moved to spy the dark-haired, blue-eyed boy, Tom. Before I could continue on to lunch, he caught up with me and held me by the arm.

"What do you want?" I asked calmly pulling free.

"I'm sorry Milianda."
I tilted my head to the side, taking in his imperfections and comparing him to Derick.

"Sorry, I wasn't listening 'cause I noticed the red lipstick on your neck." As soon as he tried to clean the invisible lipstick I turned to leave, too hungry for his crap.

The lunch room was as rowdy as ever, people paired on tables but today, on my birthday, I had no one to pair with. I found my way to an empty table away from random chatter and began consuming my lunch, that is, until I heard a bang on my table.

"The hell!" I looked up into the eyes of my backstabbing ex best friend.

"Hi Michelle, what can I do for you?" I gave her the time she wanted and went back to my lunch, ignoring her glare.

"You know, you don't have to bitchy about everything.

. Everyone makes mistakes," she hissed. What a clown.

"Oh, well you are right. I'm sorry," her face lit up but I wasn't through. "I too just realized what an unfortunate mistake I made by being friends with you." I got up to leave.

"B**ch where you going?" she snapped.

"Away from you." I didn't even bat an eye and it pissed her off. She pushed at my tray, sending the contents down my gown.

"Really?" I heaved, turning to leave. I was going home.

Five minutes had gone by and there I was in the car crying my eyes out, but very happy I didn't break down in school. I drove out of the parking lot, and was driving downtown towards my home when I saw the truck of this morning coming directly towards me with full speed. I acted quickly, or so I thought as I tried to swerve into another street. The truck hit the car. My head struck the steering wheel hard.

"Not again," I said in a daze, all of the incidents had been forgotten, the pain, the drama, the tears. In that moment I knew was going to die again, except this time I would remain dead as the car fell to the side and glided down the track.

I saw myself relive my death.
